Orchid is the new black

Pantone has revealed the 2014 color of the year: a lovely purple/pink shade called Radiant Orchid.

Pantone calls the color “an invitation to innovation…Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.” Of course, as crafters, we already know the value of creativity and originality; it’s nice to see the rest of society catching up.

Pantone’s press release offers details on the emotions Radiant Orchid evokes and the strengths it brings to home decor, fashion, and more.  For crafters, Radiant Orchid is a great color too, versatile enough for masculine or feminine motifs and a good fit for many holidays and occasions.

  1. I’ve never worked with the color orchid that much; now I’ll have to take out my Purple Brilliance and give it some whirls! thanks for sharing.

  2. I guess I’ve had my head buried in the sand because I’ve been missing out on the orchidness 🙂 I’ll have to be more observant and this is just a fabulous color. I also love the new silvery ink, too! Wooohooooo!
