Bartles

by Alison Heikkila

A cute scrapbook page featuring the families four-legged loved one Bartles in greens and browns made with torn scrapbook paper, colored ribbon and an inked background using Memenot Inks by Alsion Heikkila.

As the dog days of summer move into the first days of fall (unofficially) I wanted to share this scrapbook page I made of my dog Bartles. Isn’t he adorable???

Skill: Beginner – Intermediate
Time: 40 minutes + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Start by cropping your photos. Choose background papers by pulling out a color from the photos. I went with an green to match Bartles’ collar. Then choose two additional coordinating cardstock colors. I went with 2 shades of brown. Tear 1 sheet to a width of about 5.” Tear the second color to the width of about 3 1/2.”

Step 2

Die cut the name of your furry friend, or a cute sentiment, in one of the layer colors. spritz the letters with Frost Shimmer Spritz. Leave to dry.

Step 3

Tape down a background stencil starting in the corner. Only tape across the top of the stencil so that you can lift it like it’s hinged to see how the ink has been applied. Make sure that the stencil is one that lines up easily with itself so that you can continue the pattern across the page. Using a sponge dauber, apply your ink. I used Rich Cocoa Memento.

Step 4

Spray the background with Sheer Shimmer Sparkle and let dry. NOTE: None of the pieces have been glued down yet.

Step 5

Using twill ribbon, use a paint brush to apply Pear Tart Fireworks! I loved the paw prints on this ribbon, and adding the Fireworks made for great color and shine, without covering them up.

Step 6

Adhere everything down. Stamp a heart on the right side of the page. Using the straw from the Frost spritzer, apply some Sheer Shimmer to the heart.
