Re-purposing an Old Book
Re-purposing an old book into this decoration is very easy. You can find a lot of different sized books in dollar stores that you can use for the idea that I am sharing today. Just use your imagination and style. In today’s sample I used only Memento Inks for color.
Remove the cover of your book and fold the pages in half all the same direction, left or right. Cut one or two pages from this book to create your decorations. In my sample I only used one page.
Fold the front and back of your book together. Tie a piece of wide ribbon around of the folded book and create a belt around the cylinder. Use a fabric adhesive for this ribbon. You can rearrange the pages to have better form or spacing.
Take the page of the book that you removed in step one and cut 1/4” strips. Cut a piece of the same ribbon that you used to create the belt, and cut it in half lengthwise. You can add all the embellishments that you want, so check your stash for all the perfect pieces!
Take the strips of papers and distress with your hands. After this, ink with Memento Tangelo Ink.
Assemble all the pieces from the step 3 and 4 and secure them with a staple. Paste over the belt using the fabric or any hard adhesive.
To create the butterflies we are using a layered stamp set. Stamp the solid image with the lightest color, then stamp the detailed image over it with a darker color. Fussy cut each butterfly.
I found a die cut butterfly to add behind my center piece. Adhere all the butterflies around the book. I found Glue Dots best for this step. Easy and beautiful, don’t you think?
