Snowfall Shaker Card + Two Bonus Projects
Waste not, want not is a fabulous mantra in the craft room but it can lead to keeping all sorts of bits and pieces that could be used but seldom are. I’m sure you’ve been there, I know I have, so with today’s project I took a moment to plan for the scraps generated and got three projects out of one!
Time: 20 minutes + drying time
Die cut a 3½-inch circle from a 6-inch piece of navy cardstock and two 6-inch pieces of coordinating self-adhesive foam. Position the circle ½ inch from the top edge of the card, and centered horizontally. Do not toss out any of the pieces from the die cuts.
Secure the cardstock to your craft mat and place the die cut pieces into place. (For more security, tape them temporaraily back together on the backside. Top with stencil and spread iridescent purple Creative Medium through the stencil with a palette knife. Allow to dry completely.
Layer the two pieces of foam, one on top of the other, and top with a piece of clear acetate. Glue on two narrow strips of navy cardstock over the acetate to act as muntins for our window. Add some beads, sequins, and other bling to the cavity of the shaker window and seal with another piece of navy cardstock. Adhere the stenciled card front once dry.
Stamp a sentiment onto a strip of metallic silver cardstock with ivory black StazOn ink and notch the tail. Attach the sentiment flag to the front of the card with foam adhesive. Wrap a bit of purple eyelash yarn around the lower portion of a 6 ½-inch piece of silver cardstock and center the shaker on the cardstock base.
Attach a single layer of self-adhesive foam to each of the stenciled “leftover” pieces of navy cardstock for stability.
String two eye pins with coordinating beads and add a metallic tassel to one. Attach the tasseled piece to the frame die cut with a loop of thin wire to make an ornament.
Stamp a to/from sentiment to a piece of vellum and layer it, the center of the die cut, and the second beaded element and combine with a piece of the eyelash yarn to make a gift tag.
And there you have it, a shaker card, an ornament and a gift tag from one die cut!
