Easy Ornaments with Creative Medium

Quick and Easy Ornaments

by Neva Cole

Hand decorated glass christmas tree ornaments made with Creative Medium by Neva Cole.

One of my favorite traditions since childhood is crafting a new ornament for the Christmas Tree. I have carried on in this tradition for this season and made a few ornaments to give as gifts as well. It is so easy and quick with flat glass ornaments, stencils, and Creative Medium. All three ornaments took less than 20 minutes to create!

Skill: Beginner
Time: 20 minutes + dry time

Step 1

Secure stencil in place with painter’s tape and apply Creative Medium in a metallic color with a Palette Knife. Gold is used here. Remove the stencil from the ornament. Gently clean any smudges with a cotton swab. Clean your stencil immediately for easy removal of Creative Medium. Set aside to dry.

Step 2

A variation on the theme is to use Creative Medium in Clear and sprinkle with Embossing Powder in Candy Red. Gently heat with a heat gun to cure Creative Medium and melt the embossing powder.

Step 3

Adhesive stencils can also be used with Creative Medium; Silver is used here.

Step 4

To finish off, stuff the ornament with shimmer tinsel or decorative snow. Use a permanent marker to pop the metallic lettering. You could use a Pico Embellisher to add extra color or decoration, but it is too slippery to use with the stencils.
