Ever wonder what to do with those special concert ticket stubs without dedicating an entire page in a scrapbook? Or how to capture an entire month filled with outings, adventures, and family events? Imagine artist Kyriakos has designed a clever 12-month photo journal to help solve the problem of collecting keepsakes without the clutter.
Choose a special moment of each month of 2017, preferably with a photo and save them in a 12-page handmade journal. The pages are empty envelopes that easily set together, creating pockets that allow one to store a ticket, a note and/or a photo of an occasion, a party or a moment in the month, while the opposite side can be used to write down a date, feelings or anything else that make that day special and need to remember. Use stamps, markers and stickers to alter it further during the year.
Stamp 12 envelopes on the front top to mark a header for a date or title. Keep the flap on the left side.
Take a clear envelope and keep it open. Place some glue on the back of the flap of a stamped one and insert it in the first envelope up to the flaps’ crease, press to set. Fold the envelope to the first one and continue with the rest as above. When finished with all envelopes, place some glue on the book spine and secure with the bookbinders until it dries.
Glue the book at the center of the light blue cardstock.
Cut 2 pieces of the 12×12 paper, 1 inch larger than the book boards. Glue them on the book boards as covers.
Distress the covers with the Celadon VersaColor and Pinecone VersaColor inkpads.
Press the Pinecone VersaColor inkpad on the working surface and lightly mix with the heavy structure paste with the palette knife. Cover the cover with large strokes.
Stamp words with the clear letter stamps and the Pinecone VersaColor inkpad.
Using the Pinecone VersaColor inkpad, stamp the months on the side of the canvas piece of fabric and distress the rest of it on both sides.
Color the heart shape with the Silver Encore! inkpad and the letters with the Pinecone VersaColor inkpad.
Turn the bronze metallic leaves into silver by embossing them with the Imagine Silver Embossing Powder and the help of the VersaMark inkpad.
Glue the canvas with the stamped months on the bark piece, fold the fabric under and glue on the cover.
Finish with setting the rest of the embellishments on the cover.
Now you have a photo journal that is waiting to be filled with all the fun event mementos planned for the year. At the end of the year, 12 moments will make a keepsake journey in 2017. Best of all, the same technique can be used with any size of envelopes and more pages can be added for regular journals or planners.
