Hello! For the month of January, the Imagine team has been working with the theme “New Beginnings.” For me, a new beginning happens each and every day, and I like to start the day off with breakfast. I’m going to sound like a public service announcement, but breakfast is the most important meal of the day…so why not start it off with a smile? I was inspired by Lawn Fawn’s Love ‘N Breakfast stamps, and I thought Radiant Neon Amplify! would make fun egg accents, or ‘eggcents’, on a card.
Directions
Step 1
Cut a 3″ x 3″ square of Canson Mixed Media Paper. Stamp the tray and eggs & bacon on to the square using Onyx Black VersaFine. You’ll see in the photo above that my sentiment is too long for my square. So I decided to stamp it out in sections. Of course, I don’t want to cut my sentiment, so I masked parts of it off with washi tape.
Step 2
I worked from the end of the sentence backwards, as I found it was easier to stamp out the words where they needed to be. I left the “with a smile” exposed and covered the rest with the washi tape. Ink up the words, remove the washi tape, and stamp below the tray, in between the legs.
Step 3
Next, I covered everything but “morning” and stamped that right above the tray. I also added the same small heart that I put on the vase to the left side of the sentiment.
Step 4
Color in the image using Memento Dual Tip Markers. I highly recommend Rhubarb Stalk and Desert Sand for the bacon.
Step 5
To meg the eggs, I tried a few different ways, and used various products. I liked the Amplify! versions the best. Apply a large dot of Yellow Radiant Neon Amplify! below the colored in images. Take the white Amplify! and apply an uneven oval. Don’t make a circle, or it will look like a flower in the end. I made 2 at a time, then heated them together with my heat tool.Repeat this process across the bottom of the square. Word of caution: Be sure to thoroughly heat and dry the Amplify! or you could wind up with runny yolks. And that’s just no fun on your project.
Step 6
Create a mat for the stamped image with Wedgewood blue colored cardstock, cut to 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4.”
Step 7
Create another mat using a powder blue cardstock, cut to 5 1/4″ x 3 3/4.” Using Onyx Black VersaFine and more washi tape, stamp one of the toast pieces repeatedly onto the powder blue mat. The washi tape will stay sticky but won’t muck up your stamp as you repeat the process all over the background.
Step 8
After the toast has been stamped, edge the powder blue cardstock with Encore Ultimate Metallic ink in Blue.
Step 9
Glue all of your layers together.
I am pretty happy with my little puffy eggs. I think they are just the right amount of dimension and silliness for the card. I hope you learned a couple of tricks. Have an inspiring day!
