Pink Shaker Birthday card with Lawn Fawn stamp set. cake mixer, cupcake, stars, sequins, have a sweet birthday.

Birthday cards are enjoyable craft projects because they can be made any time of the year when color trends are coming and going with holidays. February is the month of love and Imagine’s color of the month is Rose. So I decided to make a pink shimmery shaker birthday card for my project! I’ll show you how to make a shaker box, stencil with Iridescent Pink Creative Medium and emboss with VersaMark!

Pink Shaker Birthday card with Lawn Fawn stamp set. cake mixer, cupcake, stars, sequins, have a sweet birthday.

Step 1

Stamp the frosted cupcake, mixer and stand onto Bristol paper using VersaFine Onyx Black. Color with a blend of Memento Dual Tip Marker colros. Color blending is fun because effects are not always obvious. For the dough mixer, I used Angel Pink and Rose Bud, which is an obvious choice because they are both pinks. But, for the frosting, I used Angel Pink shaded with Lulu Lavender, and the cake stand is Angel Pink with Summer Sky. Blending can produce wonderful effects and more exciting coloration by thinking outside the box with what colors mix together.

Step 2

Die cut the mixer and cupcake images.

Step 3

Using the “Build A Wreath” die cut set, cut out the largest scallop in pink cardstock. Die cut the second largest circle in the middle of the cut scallop.

Step 4

Cut a piece of acetate in the largest scallop. TIP: I like to use the plastic sheets from my clear stamps, once I’ve transferred the stamps into a filing system.

Step 5

Cut the largest circle in a pink patterned cardstock.

Step 6

Lay the Leopard Stencil on top of the largest scallop. Tape down. Apply Iridescent Pink Creative Medium with a palette knife by portioning a larger amount of the paste at the top of the stencil and then dragging the palette knife across the stencil at an angle. Remove the stencil and let the Creative Medium dry.

Step 7

Tape down the Punchinella Stencil directly to the Craft Mat. Apply Creative Medium, peel off the stencil and let the Creative Medium dry on the mat.

Step 8

Once the stars are dry, peel them off the Craft Mat with the palette knife. Set stars aside. They will be used in our Shaker Box.

Step 9

Using On Point Glue, apply to the back of the scallop with the leopard skin. Adhere to the acetate scallop.

Step 10

Apply foam tape around the scallop layer. Be sure to not have spaces in between the tape so that your shaker filling won’t fall out.

Step 11

Fill with sequins and the stars you made from Creative Medium.

Step 12

Apply the patterned paper (pink side down!) to the back of the Shaker Box. Ta-da! Shaker Box! Now for the rest of the card.

Step 13

Tape down the Waves & Dots stencil to a piece of gray cardstock. Apply Creative Medium. Remove and wash stencil. Let dry. Creative Medium is thick so be sure to clean stencils right away.

Pink Ink pad

Step 14

Color white cardstock with Angel Pink Memento. Stamp your sentiment using VersaFine ink on top of the Angel Pink. Trim.

Step 15

Apply VersaMark ink to the bottom of the sentiment. Sprinkle Vintage Pink Embossing Tinsel and heat from underneath.

Step 16

On your white card base, apply VersaMark to the tall sides of the card. Sprinkle with Vintage Pink Embossing Tinsel and heat from underneath.

Step 17

Adhere the gray mat to the card base. Adhere the Lawn Fawn elements to the Shaker Box with On Point Glue and add extra foam tape where the images overhang for added stability. Adhere Shaker Box to the card.

Shake, shake, shake!!!
