With Love From Me to You Handmade Card by Tenia Nelson
Tenia here from Jazzy Paper Designs with a super fun handmade card project that I made with Imagine and Tsukineko inks. This card can be a fun Mother’s Day card or can be given any time of the year to a special person in your life. It has cheerful colors that would brighten anyone’s day. Stamp and heat emboss heart image on a piece of white cardstock.
To make this fun card, start by stamping and heat embossing the heart on a piece of white cardstock. Ink blend heart using Pear Tart and Bamboo Leaves Memento dye inks. Once you begin to blend and ink the paper with the sponge dauber, the ink will soak into the paper and the rest will wipe clean from the embossed coat letting the original cardstock color to pop forward. Die cut the heart from the paper and set aside. Next, create the background blue glow by ink blending Summer Sky and Bahama Blue Memento inks onto white cardstock. I kept the blue hues centered in the middle. Next, add Rose Bud Fireworks Craft Spray onto cardstock allowing a little to spray on the blue and the rest to off the edge. Since Fireworks is a spray the results will be different each time. You can practice on a different sheet of paper to get a sense of how this will turn out. Once all the inks are dry stamp the sentiment on the newly inked panel and heat emboss. Adhere heart on top of this inked panel, add sequins, washi and sticker stitches. And finish the design by attaching the image panel onto a cardbase.

Steampunk Mother’s Day Card by Alison Heikkila
M is for Mom greetings! This month, the Artists in Residence are working with the theme, “M is for…” so I decided to go with M is for Mom. Mother’s Day is almost here and my mom (thankfully) loves to get my homemade cards, so I figured I’d make a card that was very well suited to her. My mom loves all things steampunked. She is so cool. She loves the texture, neutral colors, and gears… and well, all the stuff I put on this card!
I started off with the Gears Stencil and the Vintage Creative Medium and stenciled a smaller panel. Then I stenciled ink directly onto the cream color cardbase to provide a dynamic background and used assorted shades of brown ink, ultra fine glitter, and Fireworks Spray for random bits of extra shimmer. To give the card base a bit more of a style, I distressed the edges with more brown ink to give it the classic old-timey look. I knew the Vertigo would be a fun way to spell out Mom and inking it up with Spiced Chai StazOn helped it to stand out more. I didn’t ink the Vertigo completely but varied the amount of ink I used on the letters to give some more visual interest. Finish the design by mounting the stenciled Creative Medium layer on the cardbase and attach the Vertigo letters with On Point Glue. This is a style that you can surely get lost in by continuing to build, layer and blend the inks until you get it to look perfectly the way you wish.
