Make a Happy Girl Card Watercolored with Mementos

The color of the month at Imagine is Tangerine – a color I love. For this project, I wanted to use my tangerine inks to evoke a warm, sunshiny summer day. Another favorite of mine is watercoloring. I wanted to show watercoloring and how to create more with your favorite inkpads.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 45 minutes

Directions

Prima – Bloom Girl Joy by Jamie Daugherty
Step 1

Ink image with Memento Dew Drop Tuxedo Black and London Fog. Use Tuxedo Black first and then use London Fog to soften the lines of the Tuxedo Black. Be mindful of what images you want black.

Step 2

Continue stamping images using the same inks and technique in previous step. This will create dreamy, soft lines and crisp, hard lines which will create a fade effect.

VersaMark ink and emboss with Imagine's Clear Embossing Powder
Step 3

Ink a stamp with VersaMark ink and emboss with Imagine’s Clear Embossing Powder. Repeat this step in several areas to create texture.

Step 4

Dab with a yellow-orange color range of Memento inkpads onto clear acrylic block. I choose Dandelion, Cantaloupe, Tangerine, and Morocco (dark orange). Fill area(s) you want to color on your paper with water. Pick up the desired Memento ink color with your brush and add to selected area you filled with water. Since the paper is wet, the dye ink will disperse at random which is the funnest part of watercoloring. I love to see what naturally happens in this process. Continue watercoloring until you are satisfied. Stamp words using alphabet stamps with StazOn ink. Embellish with matching orange color jewels, sequins, etc.
