Be Careful What You Wish For Mermaid Card by Martha Lucia Gomez
I adore mermaids and today I have a Z-Fold card with a lot of dimensions and a very special mermaid to share with you. I made my card with Kaleidacolor inks and Fireworks Spray — two magic products to make extraordinary things!
I will start with the simplest part, the folding of the card. This model is called Z-Fold and you need a piece of card stock of 4 1/4 x 11 inches. Make a score at 2 3/4 inches, 5 1/2 inches and create and mount and valley and voila! Your Z-Fold is created.
Now the most interesting part is how you can use the Kaleidacolor inks in different ways. In this sample, I used a piece of whisper white card stock, shaving cream and acrylic blocks of different sizes. I used Caribbean Sea Kaleidacolor Ink. Put a little amount of shaving cream on your mat. Ink the block with the Kaleidacolor ink using at the same time different colors. Apply the shaving cream over the ink using a pallet. Pass the acrylic block over the card stock. Repeat the process until you have the design that you want. When the paper is dry, cut it with a die cut to create the waves. Also, cut waves using the same color of the card base.
Cut a rectangle of the height that you want for the card. In my sample, I covered it partially. Paste over this rectangle the waves using On Point Glue. Paste the rectangle over the folding part of the Z-Fold. Create the inside panel of the card with a digital stamp of a mermaid and a rubber stamp for the sentiment. I printed the mermaid and stamped the sentiment with Teal Zeal Memento Ink. I colored the mermaid with Fireworks Spray and a paint brush. From here you can finish the card with your own personal touches.

The Mermaid Memento Marker and Vellum Card by Mischelle Smith
Our theme at Imagine this month is Mystical. I wanted to combine this fun theme with our color of the month Teal. The background of this artsy Mermaid card was created using the technique I shared earlier this month – Faux Gelli Printing with VersaMagic and Ink Potion #9. I typically print in batches and use these prints as card fronts when I need a card on the fly – it’s a huge time saver!
This darling mermaid is printed onto vellum and colored with Memento Markers which complement the background beautifully. This simple card comes together quickly and begs for summer to linger just a little longer.
Print or stamp mermaid image and the “a mermaid heart cannot be tamed” saying onto vellum paper. Heat set if necessary. Turn the paper over (so stamped/printed images face down) and color the images. Allow coloring to dry. Cut out images and attach to card with tiny glue dots or your favorite adhesive. Outline edge of card with black Memento Marker. Embellish the card with sequins, washi tape or any other of your favorites. Finish the overall design by spritzing with Sheer Shimmer Spritz.
