Sometimes it is difficult to imagine creating a handmade card using a single color hue, but monochromatic techniques are fun and easy to make magic! If you have the cardmaking inspiration, dye ink pads and a stamp set you have been itching to use then try out a monochromatic style. I made this Fairy-themed card using the magic of Teal Zeal Memento Ink.
Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 minutes
Directions

Step 1
With a pencil, mark the area you will use to stamp the fairy image. For this, you can use a circle die cut frame. Cut the same circle die on paper to use as a mask. Stamp the image with Teal Zeal Memento Ink, leaving part of the image out of the masking area to give the sensation of movement.

Step 2
Stamp the “Dreams are made of Magical Things” sentiment. If you want you can use the same tone of Memento Ink or you can create little shine with Versamark and Silver Embossing Powder.

Step 3
Erase the marks created with the pencils and paste the mask in place to prepare for inking the card panel. Take a jumbo sponge dauber and with circular movements apply the Teal Zeal Memento Ink from the bottom part to up. Continue the ink layering process with a brush to make the color have a soft appearance. Since the Memento is a dye ink, the more you use it the more intense the color. It is simply dying the paper fibers more and more. In this project, the stamped fairy and leaves create a shadow effect.

Step 4
Stamp additional images over the sponged area using the Teal Zeal Memento Ink. Spray the card with shimmer mist and remove the masking paper. Resize the layer and paste over the matching teal card base.

Thank you so much. I love how it turned!
Blue is such a great color for a monochromatic card. The silver embossing is such a pretty complement to the blue. Precious fairy image!
Thank you, definitely the teal is an amazing color.
I love this fairy card!
Awesome card and perfect color! Thank you for sharing.
Love the card and I’m especially fond of all things Fairie /magical. I’m wondering what type of paint brush you used in the process of layering the ink?
