When I saw our Artists challenge for this month was Holiday Planning, I panicked! I’m not sure how I feel about the holiday planning … as I’m SOOO not ready for the holidays. {smiles} So, I decided to ease into the holidays gently with a trio of bookmarks featuring some ‘batty’ characters from Stampin’ Up. For this frightful trio, I used a variety of Memento colors with a water brush and I LOVE the results! They will be such a fun Halloween treat for the book-loving ghouls I know.
I started by stamping the witch, Dracula and Frankenstein images on watercolor paper with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I began to color all three images with Memento inks and a water brush. Since Memento inks are waterbased, it is a perfect ink to use for blending. As you can see in the photo above, I was able to pull some of the black into the grey and dilute the middle area of the purple dress. You can also use Copic markers as needed if you want to a non-reactive ink. I attached my images to scrap pieces of paper that matched the Halloween theme, punched holes, and added eyelets and ribbon. Continue to stamp and embellish as you see fit. I added little Halloween phrases to the bookmark base, but you can do a number of things such as add shimmer, texture or whatever you like! These could be great to give out as treats with our without some candy attached.
