I love the richness of Aubergine – not quite purple but not quite blue either – perfectly located in between. This warm and rich color is so versatile and can be used in a number of ways. The great thing about ink is that on the color spectrum Imagine offers such a huge variety of inks that cover most every need. And when you want a hue that is just slightly unique, blending together ink from two or more inkers is just the ticket. Let’s take a look how this wonderful color can be mixed using our range of products.
Time: 30 minutes + dry time
I needed to mix my color to get just the tone I was looking for, so decided to mix two of my inkers to get the perfect shade of Aubergine texture paste for this card. On a palette add a small amount of texture paste. Add a few drops of Memento Luxe Rhubarb Stalk and Mulberry Tsukineko dye ink and mix well into the texture paste.
Position your stencil on a piece of colored scrap cardstock. (My background was misted with dye inks in various colors from a previous crafting session. You could create a special background or use printed cardstock.) Apply the colored paste through the stencil.
Carefully remove the stencil while the paste is still wet and leave to dry naturally for a flawless finish.
Trim the stenciled panel down to fit onto the front of your folded card and adhere in place. Add a stamped sentiment, additional cut out stenciled stars and some scattered diamanté. For the extra special touch, use a sewing machine to stitch it all together, otherwise adhesive will do.
