See How to Use a Layered Stamp Set with VersaFine Clair

by Elina Stromberg

Layered stamps have become increasingly popular. There are lots of gorgeous flower images to choose from, and once you master the alignment of the stamps you can create beautiful cards in no time at all. Searching for perfectly matching color combinations for the stamped layers is of course fun, but for getting started you don’t need to have a large variety of matching stamping inks. Let me show you how you can create beautiful layered stamped images using one single ink pad only!

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour

Step 1

Stamp flower outline on white cardstock using VersaFine Clair in Charming Pink.

Step 2

Place base layer stamps on an acrylic block. If you’re using a stamp platform, align base stamp with flower border. The first base layer will have the lightest color, and the color intensity will increase on each layer stamped on top. Apply a thin layer of ink on the stamp with a brayer. Allow the thickness of the ink to vary. Stamp base layer.

Step 3

Stamp next layer using the same VersaFine Clair in Charming Pink color.

Step 4

If you want to stamp the fourth layer, use again the same ink, but stamp the last layer twice, applying more ink in between. Create leaves for the flowers, following the same stamping steps. Once the ink is completely dry, fussy cut the layered flowers and leaves.

Step 5

Create the background for the card. Place a circle stencil over a piece of white cardstock. Using the same VersaFine Clair in Charming Pink and an InkBlusher create patterns inside the circle. Doodle faux stitches on the circle border with a white gel pen (optional).

Step 6

Stamp “congrats” and die-cut with matching die. Mat the card front on purple cardstock and attach to card base. Layer flower images and sentiment, and glue on the card front. I stamped several layered flowers on the same go, and as there was still plenty of ink left on my InkBlusher.  I created two matching yet varied ATC’s with the sentiments “peace” and “hope” too.
