Imagine and Waffle Flower teamed up in May. As a result I recieved the Happy Mail stamp set and Butterfly die which work great in my planner. The size of the envelope (stamped in Lilac Posies in the photo above) fits perfectly into the calendar grid. And I choose to float the butterflies in the lighter color Pear Tart all over the page. Memento inkpads paired with my Memento Markers is a combo that works every time and worked great with my stamps. Writing in my to-do-list notes with the matching  Memento Lilac Posies Marker was my favorite part! Super cute, right?! It is certainly inspiring to sit with your day of planning and be organized in your ink colors as well.

Stay Focused Planner Spread by Jessica Litman

With this summer kicking off, why not up your planner skills by using Imagine ink pads and Waffle Flower “Stay Focused” stamp set?! These planner stamps are perfect for personalizing any planner layout. Here I used Memento Angel Pink, New Sprout, Lulu Lavender, and London Fog and matching Memento Dual Markers for color-coding to keep the different themes in my planner organized. I also used the Xyron Sticker Maker, cardstock and the little notetaking icon stamp to create an extra embellishments and to place them where I see fit.

These 2 Different Embossed Pineapples are Super Fun

This week we have been on a bit of a pineapple binge! We challenged our artists with “pineapple” as a color for the month of July. But because pineapples have been such a cute trend, our artists have used the pineapple itself as the object of affection. In today’s blog, we have two projects that focus on embossing pineapples as a way to create adorable crafty goodness!

Embossing Bright Yellow Pineapples by Jowilna Nolte

The month of July celebrates all things bright, yellow and happy. Those words come to mind when you think about the prickly fruit with its gorgeous golden hues and funky outer facade. What a fun fruit and color to transform into a summers card perfect to cheer up someone’s day.

This card was quick and easy to make, yet I used a different embossing technique. Start by creating the base of your folded card. Use a circle stencil and Memento Cantaloupe to blend some circles using an ink sweeper. Keep the stencil in position and use Delicata Golden Glitz to blend over the same circles using the gold to add shimmer. I love the way metallic inks and dye inks work together.

Now it’s time to use embossing paste! Color embossing paste with Delicata Golden Glitz inker and apply the paste through a pineapple stencil with a palette knife on a separate piece of watercolor paper. Leave the stenciling to dry. Once the stenciling is dry, use a combination of All-Purpose Ink and stamp pad inkers to color the background. Using the inkers creates a more saturated look which is very effective for a light color like yellow. Mist the background with water and then drop All-Purpose Ink, and inkers onto the wet surface and let blend. When the background colors are dry, carefully cut out your pineapples and arrange them onto a card. Adhere them using foam dots for dimension. Finish off your card with washi tape, diamanté, and a large ribbon bow.

Embossed Pineapple Greeting Card by Jessica Litman

Pineapples are all the rage! So, why not add some tropical spunk to your craft project?! One of the coolest things about heat embossing is that it turns something simple like cardstock or scrapbook paper into a more elegant project that looks as if it visited a letterpress shop. So with a pineapple stamp and an embossing technique, it is simple to enhance scrapbook pages to a new level.

If you are familiar with heat embossing then you are already halfway there! Simply, stamp pineapple stamp using VersaMagic Cloud White onto Teresa Collins scrapbook paper. VersaMagic is a chalk pigment ink and works perfectly for embossing. Next, heat emboss with Silver Embossing Powder or color of choice. Attach pineapple paper with Tear It Tape to a black card base. If you have more time, then keep going with different color embossing powders and different scrapbook papers until you have a cute pineapple theme collection.

All You Need Is A Little Vitamin Sea

We have 3 projects today that focus on the ocean for the crafting motion! Martha creates a stunning visual effect using die cuts and Memento ink. Kyriakos wields his glue gun again for a surprisingly awesome project using silicone molds. And Jessica brings it back home with a simple hand lettering project using Memento markers. Check it out!

Smile Starfish Die Cut Greeting Card by Martha Lucia Gomez

Summer is here! Tangerine is not only a perfect color, it is the perfect for representing the mysterious starfish. Today, I am sharing a quick way to mix Memento inks to create an unique background and die cuts to create a negative foreground. I was happy with the design concept and feel this style can be applied to any theme.

Start by taking Memento Ink Dandelion (bright yellow), Tangelo (orange) and Lady Bug (classic red) and apply the ink randomly and directly to Imagine’s silicone craft mat. Spray with Ink Potion No. 9 to dilute the heavy concentration of ink, and allow the different colors to blend. Lay the card stock on the mix to absorb into the paper fibers. This is most of the work of inkblending and it creates the coolest effects. Let the paper dry and paste the inked layer over a card base.

Take another piece of white card stock and cut out several star fish shapes using the Gina Marie Starfish die. Once you are happy with the amount of cut-outs, paste the negative layer over the ink layer using dimensional dots or foam tape. The lifted negative foreground creates a dramatic effect which is immediately noticed by the eye. Finalize the card using your own custom details. I choose a “smile” die cut and gold sequins which I applied with On Point Glue. This handmade card is simple in terms of crafting time and produces impressive results!

Starfish necklace crafts

Creating a Starfish Necklace by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Do you have a cool silicone mold laying around that you want to do something with? Why not make jewelry with it? For me, I had a starfish mold and thought it would make a fun fashion project. Jewelry with an ocean theme is an easy way to create a complimenting summer look to the wardrobe. The starfish is made of hot glue shaped into the silicone mold and colored with StazOn inks to give an impression of a real dried starfish. Surprisingly, the dry time is only one hour or less. Simply let your glue heat to it perfect temperature and fill the mold completely.

Since most of the work is about the starfish itself, feel free to download a tutorial on jewelry making to help finish the details of the entire piece if you are not familar with jewelry making. There are dozens of jewelry tutorial online. The rest of the embellishments are little pearls and metallic fishes that are pre-made and can be purchased at any bead store or craft store. I was careful to space the craft wire and attach all the pieces on scattered places to create a mesh that holds the starfish in place. The length of the wires varies from 16 to 18 inches, while it can easily altered to your preference.

All You Need Is A Little Vitamin Sea by Jessica Litman

Who doesn’t love a good summer quote? Better yet, who doesn’t like practicing their hand lettering with a solid quote that inspires. I submitted the art in the photo above using Memento water-based markers in a variety of colors. I love simple and clear lettering and like to create all sorts of fun projects with quotes. But this one is perfect for the summer, as I hope to spend a lot of time at the beach! If you feel inspired by this, then try your hand and write the phrase “All You Need Is A Little Vitamin Sea” and hang it in a spot you will see (sea) it often. You can also transform this quote into a full paper crafting project by adding sea-theme stamps or embellishments.

Piggy Farm Crafts for Kids

Piggy In The Puddle Kid’s Craft by Jessica Litman

With summer quickly approaching, I am always trying to find fun and different crafts to do with my kids. Since we have a lot of empty egg cartons lying around for painting, I thought why not turn it into barn animals?!?!  Here are some quick tips on how to start!

So first let me say that you can choose any farm animal and go crazy with this project, but for time sake I am choosing a little piggy. Start by cutting out a single egg carton. Spray Rosebud Fireworks Spray on egg carton making sure to cover entirely. Set aside to dry. Cut out two small ears, curly tail, and round snout for pig. Add two dots on the snout using the Memento marker’s fine side. Once egg carton is dry, glue the ears, tail, snout, and googly eyes using On Point Glue. Cut out a mud puddle using the brown paper. Create a pig pen using the white card stock. This fence can be a download template or a die cut. Again, you can go crazy on ideas and also let your kids creativity direct this project.

Kids Crafts Spiders

Monterey Pine Spider Magnets by Mischelle Smith

Looking for a quick and easy project that the kids can do this summer?  Look no further!  These cute magnets can be enjoyed year ‘round and make great gifts for grandparents and loved ones. I choose orange spiders to tap into Imagine’s Tangerine color of the month. But you can choose any little animal or image that makes your kid’s day! It will probably be best to set up everything first and help your little ones with putting all the pieces together. Monterey Pine is hand cut wood measuring about 1 to 1.5 inches and have a .08 inch depth. Start by finding or printing 1 inches images. Cut images from paper or use the square pine piece to trace around the image you’ve printed. Apply a heavy amount of On Point Glue to rectangle pine piece, adhere the image and press down to push out any wrinkles or bubbles. Remember to replace the cap on On Point Glue and let the paper dry. Wrap Tear It Tape around edge of pine square (if fits perfectly around the edge) and dip in matching color of glitter. Attach magnet to the back and you are ready to give as a gift or place on your refrigerator.

Use Fresh Rainbow Colors in Today’s Projects

Rainbow Colors can evoke such fun and thoughtful emotions. In today’s blog post, two of our artists use an array of colors to bring forward cheerful rainbow-themed projects. Kyriakos inks flower embellishments with StazOn solvent inks and Jessica uses irRESISTibles to write encourage words on rainbow color flags.

Look at a mirror and love what you see! Flower shaped mirrors decorate the face of this card in order for someone special like you to reflect on your specialness. Each flower is covered with a different StazOn color for a fun result. The plain white background lightly distressed with black ink brightens the card and contrasts nicely with the colored mirrors. This card would serve as a happy reminder to a friend or family member who may be going through a tough time and needs a little help remembering to care for themselves.

In the photo above, I show how I used StazOn ink to color the mirror embellishments. Simply cover the mirror pieces with an ink dauber directly from the inkpad. One coat should do the trick. It is quick and simple and transform an ordinary group of embellishments that one would find in a set or 6-pack into a festive new bundle.

Rainbow Pennant Banner by Jessica Litman

I just love adding my own special touch to pretty much anything in our home. So when it came time to create décor for my kids’ play space, I knew I needed to give it a personal touch. These rainbow pennant banners add a color with our “rules” for the play space!

Cut the felt into matching triangle pieces and arrange them in the order you wish. Using the Pico Embellisher, write one word on each pennant -“Create, Smile, Laugh, Share, Encourage, Memories, Play, Giggle, Imagine”. Allow irRESISTibles to dry. With a sewing machine, sew the pennants to the ruler-style ribbon using the spacing you desire. I chose to make the spacing roughly 2.5 inches between each individual flag piece. At this point the creating of your project is complete and your are ready to decorate. One of the nice things about a project like this is it can be as big or small as you want or as the space requires. The number of flags, the length of your ribbon and the spacing between will effect how large or small the finished project.
