Gratitude Jar

by Taylor

I wanted to make a fun family activity that encouraged my kids to think about what they’re grateful for, share what my husband and I are grateful for AND look pretty good in my dining room… so I hatched a plan for this Gratitude Jar. The idea is that each day leading up to Thanksgiving well all write something short on a tag and put it in the jar. Then on Thanksgiving, we will pull them out and see what everyone wrote!

  • Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko: StazOn: Ganache, Cactus Green, Orange Zest, Mustard, Spiced Chai, St. Valentine; Memento LUXE Morocco inker, Fireworks: Desert Sand, Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves, Tangelo; Walnut Ink spray, Memento Marker Espresso Truffle, Ink Dropper, SHEET Metal Postcard
  • Crafter’s Companion: Rock-a-Blocks
  • Simon Says Stamp: Giving Thanks (clear stamp set); Sketchy Banners (metal dies)
  • Lawn Fawn: Thank You Tags (clear stamp set); Tag You’re It, Stitched Journaling tag, Stitched Leaves (metal dies)
  • Neenah: Desert Storm cardstock
  • Misc: Darice cork embossing folder; re-purposed jar ; twine

1. Ink tree with StazOn Spiced Chai, using a Rock-a-Block, roll onto glass jar. When stamping, applying less pressure when the stamp is first placed onto the glass to create a bit of shadow on one side. Increase pressure as the Rock-a-Block is rolled.

2. Repeat Step One to stamp leaves in desired StazOn colors – I used Mustard, Cactus Green, and Orange Zest.

3. Repeat Step One again for the sentiment, using Ganache.

4. Create the cardstock for the leaves and tags by spraying with Fireworks sprays and Walnut Ink as desired. (Spray both sides of the cardstock)

5. Put a drop of Memento LUXE refill ink on a scrap piece of acrylic or a plastic tray. Add water and mix. Use an Ink Dropper to collect the ink and spritz randomly on cardstock. If desired, wipe with a paper towel as well to spread color around.

6. Die cut tags from cardstock made in Step Four and Five using metal dies in various shapes.

7. Stamp small leaf on each tag using StazOn ink of choice.

8. Die cut leaves from cardstock made in Step Four and Five using metal dies in various shapes.

9. Use the brush tip of Memento Dual-Tip marker to color the edges of leaves for contrast.

10. Emboss large piece of SHEET Metal in the Postcard size.

11. Roll SHEET metal slightly to place inside jar. Add tags.

12. Wrap twine around jar lid and attach a few leaves.

13. Attach a few leaves to outside of jar.

14. Drop remaining leaves inside jar, between the SHEET Metal and jar.

Swim the Sea

by Taylor

I’m forgetful these days! One of the things I’ve been especially bad about since we moved earlier this year is birthdays… they just sneak up on me! Imagine my panic when I realized my mom’s birthday was fast approaching, and I needed to get a card in the mail immediately (as in, the same day I remembered) or it would arrive late! She lives on the beach and loves all things related to the ocean, so I knew exactly what to make for her.

  • Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko: Memento Tuxedo Black, Fireworks! Summer Sky
  • Spectrum Noir: Floral, Marine, Essentials sets of colored pencils
  • Crafter’s Companion: Maid of the Sea by Sheena Douglass (rubber stamp set)
  • Neenah: Desert Storm cardstock
  • Hemptique: Twine (Natural)
  • Misc: Darice foam adhesive, Collall All Purpose glue, Stamp-a-ma-jig, CutterBee scissors

1. Stamp the mermaid image on to a piece of cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

2. Without re-inking the stamp, stamp the image again, directly onto the card base. (Note: this is for a placement guide for the next step)

3. Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp wave images directly on to card base with Tuxedo Black ink. Use the lightly stamped mermaid image as a guide for where to place these images.

4. Stamp the waves again on additional cardstock using Tuxedo Black ink. (Note: for this tutorial, four additional wave images were stamped)

5. Color all images as desired. For this card, Spectrum Noir blendable colored pencils were used as follows:

Waves: 55, 70, 75, 64, 69, 75, 117, 01
Mermaid Tail: 36, 37, 39, 42, 09 (fin: 83, 38, 40)
Skin: 03, 04, 05, 09, 85, 89
Hair: 117, 119, 120
Rocks: 109, 110, 114, 102

6. Fussy cut mermaid and additional waves.

7. Spray card base and additional waves with Fireworks! Summer Sky.

8: Using Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp sentiment on card base with Tuxedo Black ink.

9: Using foam adhesive for dimension, adhere mermaid and waves to card base as desired. Use wet glue to attach some as well.

10: Tie twine around the top of the card.

You’re The Best

by Taylor

The holidays are fast approaching, and I am always looking for ways to make lots of pretty-yet-easy gifts for people. Enter my all time favorite color combo…. kraft + white + brown. It just makes everything look fabulous! I thought it would be fun to use those colors to make an easily reproducible gift tag that I could make sets of to give away this year for Christmas (or tie on hostess gifts and packages of treats – either way, loads of gift tags are good to have around!).

A couple of the newest Lawn Fawn stamp sets and dies and some Memento LUXE inks made this project super easy!

  • Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko: Memento LUXE: Rich Cocoa, Wedding Dress
  • Lawn Fawn: Critters in the Arctic, Thank You Tags + coordinating dies
  • May Arts: ribbon
  • Darice: foam adhesive

1. Die cut two tags from kraft cardstock using Lawn Fawn dies.
