See How to Create a Wood Sign for Autumn

Happy Fall Y’all Wooden Sign by Tenia Nelson

Tenia here from Jazzy Paper Designs with a colorful fall leaves project using wood, die cuts and of course made with Imagine products.

I started by adding ink to the edges of a wood hanging sign using a Memento Peanut Brittle DewDrop. This color is a beautiful wood grain complement. Next, I hand-lettered the word “fall” onto wood sign using three different Fabrico Markers in a rich color scheme. I like the dense quality of the Fabrico markers for using with wood. To give this sign a little shimmer and color, I added Fireworks Craft Spray in Desert Sand and Rich Cocoa. From here, you can create a sentiment or just leave the word “Fall” as is. I choose to create the sentiment, “Happy Fall Y’all” to make it fun and light. Choose a leaf die cut with an autumn feel. Cut out the fall leaf and decorate as you see fit. Adhere leaf to sign and add any additional embellishments.

Decorating Wood with All-Purpose Ink by Neva Cole

I chose to create a new wooden sign to celebrate the coming of autumn. In the process, I discovered that All-Purpose Ink is a great stain for a porous wood surface! A leaf stencil supplies the design, a fun tall and skinny alphabet stamp and StazOn ink makes quick work of a darling home décor sign. For what it is worth, remember that two-sided signs allow you to have a practice run at color choices and placement of images; when it is hanging by your door no one will be the wiser! With a few supplies, you can try your hand at creating a something new for your home.

Place stencil over wood sign and ink with All-Purpose ink. Place InkBlusher over the opening of the bottle and gently tip to add ink. Apply the API through the stencil. I always start with the lightest color first, in this case, Lemon Yellow.

Apply different colors like Tangerine through the stencil. The API will still be slightly wet and will blend nicely. The project can be set aside to dry or the process can be sped up with a heat tool. Move stencil and add additional colors to the scheme like Red Delicious. You can also use a palette or Craft Mat and API to create new blends of fall colors. Determine placement and stamp sentiment with StazOn ink, I used Blazing Red. Set aside to dry. Not being satisfied, I decided a bit of color around the edges would finish off the rustic look of the sign, Autumn Leaf API was a perfect choice. Now, I have a new sign to hang at my front door for the autumn season!

Say Hello or Thank You with Rose Gold Greetings

Hello Greeting Card by Tenia Nelson

Tenia here from Jazzy Paper Designs with a very cool “Hello Lady!” card using Tsukineko Delicata Rose Gold ink. This is a great design for a girlfriend who has been on your mind lately and with whom you need to reach out to! Send some positive vibes her way with this cute design!

Here my thoughts on how to create this fun card. First stamp and heat emboss the “Hello” sentiment with Delicata Rose Gold onto kraft cardstock. Add the same Delicata Rose Gold ink onto an acrylic block, add water and use a brush to splatter onto a panel. Add the butterfly and jewel embellishments onto the card and create “Lady!” sentiment with a Dymo Label Maker. Adhere panel onto white card using foam adhesive. And that is it! Super easy and will certainly brighten someone’s day.

Say Thanks in Rose Gold by Roni Johnson

Need to thank someone for a kind act? Say it in style with Rose Gold Delicata Ink on black cardstock! This ink transforms an everyday sentiment into a grand gesture giving it a bit of class and polish while the black cardstock adds a bit of drama. Toss in clear embossing powder and you get the bonus of texture on your card.

For the background, place card panel on craft mat; tear strips of washi tape and temporarily adhere to the card in diagonal lines leaving as much or as little space between the strips as desired. Use sponge dauber to apply Rose Gold Delicata to the spaces. Carefully remove the tape and set aside to dry.

For the textured panel, cut a small piece of cardstock, place stencil over top and sponge ink through the stencil. Remove the stencil, sprinkle the wet ink with clear embossing powder, shake off excess and heat to melt the powder.

To finish, Stamp the sentiment “thanks” with Delicata Rose Gold and let dry. Assemble the card with double stick foam tape to pop the sentiment/texture panel off of the background panel. Affix flat back gems using On Point Glue.

by Tenia Nelson

Tenia here from Jazzy Paper Designs with a Miss You Very Much greeting card made with Imagine and Tsukineko products. With Delicata’s new colors, I was thrilled to see Sapphire and Emerald Green in the new metallic colors. Blue and Green create a beautiful color harmony that compliments bright white cardstock swimmingly.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 minutes + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Ink half of your stamp with Delicata in Emerald Green and the other half in Sapphire Blue. Heat emboss the entire image with clear Embossing Powder. Since Delicata is a pigment ink there is no need to use additional inks for a simple clear embossing.

Stamp sentiment in Sapphire Blue and heat emboss. Line up the banner die over your sentiment and die cut.

Step 3

Using Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in New Sprout, unscrew the cap and flick the tube over the image to get a splatter onto image panel.

Unicorns are pure magic! They are not constrained by the normal colors. They can embody pink, purple, iridescent sparkly colors and even gold! In today’s blog post, Imagine artists Tenia and Alison create two delightful mystical unicorn themed cards using ink blending, embossing and ink sprays. See what they have to say about these magical beasts!

Magic and Unicorn Awesomeness Concord & 9th Unicorn Bundle

Die Cut Unicorn Awesomeness by Tenia Nelson

Hey, Y’all! Tenia here from Jazzy Paper Designs with a magical and shiny Mystic Unicorn card made with Imagine and Tsukineko products. I really enjoyed making this card so here are some pointers on how I did it!

Create card from white cardstock and spray and splatter various Fireworks craft sprays to create an ink splatter texture. I choose Dandelion, Bahama Blue, Lady Bug for a nice primary colors theme. Stamp the unicorn image with Delicata Golden Glitz and heat emboss onto watercolor paper. Die cut unicorn with the matching die. There are several unicorn and matching die sets to choose from, but I personally like the Unicorn Bundle from Concord & 9th. Feel free to go with your own personal favorite stamp set!

Next, I added detail to the unicorn’s mane and tail with a watercolor technique using Fabrico marker in Lemon Yellow and an aqua brush.
Stamp the sentiment “Your Awesomeness Rivals that of a Unicorn” included in the Unicorn Bundle onto the card front with Tuxedo Black Ink. The sentiment perfectly frames around the unicorn. To add all the finishing touches, adhere die cut unicorn onto the card, add sequins, add washi and sticker stitches and you have completed mystical awesomeness! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!

Mystical Unicorn Ink Blended Card by Alison Heikkila

Greetings! This month, the theme given to the Artists in Residence from Imagine is “Mystical.” This is right up my alley and I could have done an entire series of Mystical things. But I decided to reign myself in and work with a beautiful unicorn from Stampendous.

I stamped the unicorn on to Mixed Media Paper because it really helps the Memento Markers move and blend. I die cut the image with a die larger than I would typically use because I wanted to create an inked border with the die size that fits the image. I die cut a mask with the smaller die and temporarily taped it on. Using a sponge dauber, I applied Summer Sky ink, and then Nautical Blue.

My background was created on Smooth Bristol paper. I swiped my Vineyard Kalediacolor across my Craft Mat. I only swiped it once to avoid mixing the colors on the ink pad itself. Then, I sprayed the ink with a combination of Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle and Ink Potion No. 9. Next, I dragged the Bristol paper through the wet ink. I dried it with my heat tool and tapped it into the ink again. This process was repeated a couple of times until I was satisfied with the background. Using the powder tool, I rubbed it across the bottom of my background so that I could emboss my sentiment better.

I used a Deep Indigo cardstock for my card base, applied a line of Tear It Tape along the right side and sprinkled Multi Crystal Glitter Mix. I applied my layers and added a few deep blue sequins with On Point Glue. Seriously, if you haven’t tried this adhesive, you are missing out.

That’s my card for today. Have an inspiring day!
