Plant Seeds of Love on this Happy Earth Day

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Happy Earth Day from Imagine. Kyriakos has created a lovely seed tin as a gift using Fabrico Markers, VersaMark and Embossing Powder.

Gift a garden, instead of a plant! Upcycle an empty tin into a box and place little bags of seeds of flowers or vegetables that can help turn a backyard into a garden. The tin is covered with Imagine embossing powder to hide the labels. The cover is made of a cardboard where a garden related paper design is glued and colored with Fabrico Markers. Add little kraft paper bags with seeds and tags in the tin.

Is Mother Earth A Crafter?

Earth Day is upon us and it’s not just our Pacific Northwest roots that have us here at Imagine Crafts caring about our impact on the environment. Earth Day has more than a billion people partaking in the green festivities every year and as we become more environmentally conscious that number continues to grow. As a way to incorporate Earth Day’s mission beyond a single day, try to encompass upcycling more into your crafting. Upcycling is more than just a trend it can really become a fundamental part of your crafting behavior. It’s easy on your pocket book and the environment. I’d say that’s a win-win, wouldn’t you?

Below are some examples how our own Artists in Residence have upcycled their own items and used them towards fun and functional crafting projects.

One way I incorporate upcycling into my life is by finding new uses for used candle votives (see below), repurposing vases I’ve received from flower deliveries, or by simply donating items I no longer use. Someone out there can certainly give your old items new life. Whether through their own crafting projects or simply by sprucing them up a bit and getting a bit more use out of them. By upcycling, repurposing and donating you are directly keeping waste out of landfills. Somewhere Captain Planet is thanking you!
