Say Hello to Texture!

Memento Lux

STENCILING WITH CREATIVE MEDIUM & MEMENTO LUXE

by AIRs Martha Lucia Gomez

Have you ever wanted to create your own backgrounds with gorgeous texture and color?! Well, today AIRs Martha Lucia Gomez shows you how using Creative Medium, Memento Luxe, and stencils.

 Directions:

m1

Cut a piece of masking paper and stamp your sentiment onto the masking paper using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Adhere the stamped piece to a piece of Whisper White card stock cut to 4″ x 5 ¼”. You can cut the sentiment piece into a unique shape; I cut mine into a banner shape.

how to stencil and mask

Choose your stencil and secure it over the Whisper White cardstock layer.

Memento Luxe

Select the colors of Memento Luxe that you want to use. In my model, I used Lilac Posies, Sweet Plum, and Pear Tart. Apply a few touches of these inks directly over the Imagine Crafts Mat to be mixed individually with Creative Medium Clear

m6

Using a Palette Knife, apply the color on selected parts of the stencil. Repeat the process with each color of ink.

m5

Using some Brilliance Ink will amplify the range of colors. I used Brilliance Sunflower Yellow.

Make sure to clean off your palette knife between the application of each color.

When you finished with your individual colors, pass your palette knives over the entire stencil. With this step, you will smooth out the creative medium and create a smooth blended mix of all the colors.

Quickly and carefully remove your stencil and put this in water before the medium dries. Remove your masking paper immediately to avoid this from being permanently stuck to the background paper. Let dry thoroughly before cutting and adhering to the regular card base, 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.

NOTE: If you have problems removing the masking paper, there is a solution. You can create a banner that covers all the masked area and stamp your sentiment again using Versamark and Embossing Powder on another piece of whisper white card stock. Just like you see in my model. I used Vintage Plum Embossing Powder.

m8

If you don’t have any problem removing the masking paper, let the layer dry before cutting and then stamp the sentiment using VersaMark and Embossing Powder.  Adhere this layer over the regular card base, 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.
