Do You Have Dreams of Tangerine?

Tangerine is Imagine’s Color of the Month for June. Throughout this month, we will be featuring projects that incorporate this warm and festive color as well as the theme Summer Lovin’. To start this party right, we have a fruit-themed greeting card by Alison Heikkila who uses super cute stamps as a center piece and splashes of Fireworks Shimmer in the background. Roni Johnson brings a different mood to the deep orange color with a summer sunset shaker card. Oh my! Both these projects show off Tangerine perfectly!

Tangerine Dreams by Alison Heikkila

Greetings! This month, the Imagine Artists in Residence are sharing projects with Tangerine…..a yummy, uplifting color that makes me think of Summer. I started off by inking up these adorable little fruits by Studio G. Fruit stamps are everywhere right now. So if you don’t have this little set, I’m sure there are plenty of other fruit images that work for this card. I colored them using Memento Ink pads as well as the markers. Both work fantastically. I stamped them on to Mixed Media Paper, die cut them using Fitted Frames, and created a matching dark orange frame to go around it. I used the Large and Small “V” Frames for the centerpiece.

My card base was spritzed with Tangelo Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray from the center toward the edge. I spritzed it sideways to get the outward spray I was going for. After the spray was dry, I inked the edges of the card base with Tangelo Memento Ink. I glued my die cut layers on to the card base, and then using On Point Glue (my favorite liquid glue!!!), I attached a few sequins for added sparkle. Thank you for checking out my card today. I hope you are inspired by the sweetness of Tangerine!

Summer Lovin’ Sunset Card by Roni Johnson

Summer lovin’…brings to mind lazy days at the beach, lounging by the water, drinking an ice cold beverage while reading my favorite book. I decided that’s what I would translate into a card. The sunset image was stamped on Vertigo with StazOn ink. Once it dried, I used Memento Dual Tip Markers and StazOn Inks to color the image. Please note the water-based Memento markers took a long time to dry on the film as it took time to evaporate. I left mine to dry 3 days. If you do not have 3 days to wait, you can use Fantastix with StazOn ink instead and the dry time will be immediate. Next, I used VersaMagic inks to create a lovely monoprint background design, let dry, stamped seashells and embossed with gold embossing powder. I mounted the Vertigo centerpiece, attached a decorative string inked with Tangelo Memento Markers and pulled the design together on a card base. With the visual dynamic of Vertigo, I can’t stop looking at this card! Hope you enjoy my crafty version of Summer Lovin’.
