Decorate Your Home for the Holidays with Clay Ornaments

Light-weighted, these Christmas ornaments can be hung anywhere in the house to decorate during the festive holiday season. Use any Christmas theme casting mold to make the ornaments and if you don’t have any, a flat layer of clay with some cookie cutters can work too. They are easy to make and coloring is a breeze with All-Purpose Ink and StazOn Pigment inks.

Time: 1 hour (excluding clay dry time)

Directions


Step 1

If you are creating the clay pieces yourself then allow clay of the Christmas shapes to fully dry. If you are using premade shapes then you are ready to start. Using a paintbrush, color the surface of the ornaments with All-Purpose Ink Poppy Red and Lemon Yellow. Premix the two colors or lay first the Poppy Red and add a layer of Lemon Yellow after. Let them dry.


Step 2

Cover the embossed details of the shapes with All-Purpose White to create a distressed or antique look. The easiest way to apply the color is by using a finger and lightly tapping on the embossed areas. Let them dry.


Step 3

Press the crystals directly on the StazOn Pigment ink pad, let them sit a bit to allow the ink to dry well and repeat for a good coverage. Cover on the backside only.


Step 4

Use a hot glue gun to set ribbons on the clay shapes, add beads and crystals.

Learn How to Create Foil Paper Christmas Ornaments

Oh My….Gingerbread! That is the color of the month for November 2018 here at Imagine. Gingerbread is not only one of my favorite holiday treats but it is also one of my favorite colors. I have paired it with another of my holiday favorites…handcrafted ornaments! These star ornaments are so elegant looking on the tree and by making them with Rinea Foiled Papers they add loads of extra sparkle and shine to the mix.

Skill: Intermediate to Advanced
Time: 1 hour per ornament

Directions


Step 1

Cut copy weight white paper 4.75” x 4.75”; cut the square into triangles as shown.


Step 2

Cut Mocha/Mocha Starstruck Foiled Paper into 5” squares then into triangles. Note: You will need 9-10 triangles per ornament.


Step 3

Stamp each triangle with a variety of ornament peg stamps using VersaMagic Gingerbread and VersaFine Clair Acorn inks. Sponge edges with Dark Brown Shimmer Delicata ink.


Step 4

Mount each stamped triangle onto each foiled paper triangle. Roll one side point and affix it to the center point; roll the other point around the side to form a cone. Affix with your favorite adhesive. Repeat until you have 9-10 cones.


Step 5

Die-cut a circle from chipboard and one from gold foiled paper. Trim a 10” piece of stretch cord per ornament.


Step 6

Punch a hole in the chipboard circle. Adhere to 8-10 cones around the circle.


Step 7

Once all the cones are attached or glued down, insert a decorative brad in the center of the ornament to cover the tips of the cones.


Step 8

Cover the back of the ornament with the gold foiled paper circle (to hide the brad); affix the stretch cord hanger. In the photo above, you can see that I have used a different color scheme.


Step 9

Here I have made two versions of the same ornament one is using 10 cones in multiple colors and the other is 9 cones in gingerbread. Above is a comparison of the different looks. The 9 cone ornament is much wider/flatter look to it while the 10 cone ornament is more rounded with the original cone shape still intact. Both beautiful in their own way.

Use Foamiran Foam and Delicata to Make Beautiful Poinsettias

The poinsettia is arguably the most iconic flower of the holiday season. They bring light and joy wherever they are found. Create your own joy and spread the light of the Christmas season by making your own realistic sparkly foam poinsettias with the help of Delicata Inks.

Skill: Advanced
Time: 1 hour + dry time

Directions


Step 1

Die-cut or hand cut several flower petals and a few extra for leaves.


Step 2

Color both sides of the petals using a sponge dauber and Ruby Red Delicata Ink; ink the leaves using Emerald Green Delicata ink.


Step 3

Place a petal in the veining mold; heat with a heat tool for 2-3 seconds.


Step 4

Immediately place the upper portion of the veining mold over the bottom; gently press and hold for 1-2 seconds.


Step 5

Remove the petal from the mold. Repeat steps 3 – 5 as needed.


Step 6

Once all petals and leaves have been molded, cut a flower base from cardstock and ink with Ruby Red Delicata ink.


Step 7

Use a hot glue gun to adhere the leaves and petals to the cardstock base; overlap each petal just a bit.


Step 8

Adhere the mid-size petals over the large petals.


Step 9

Glue the smallest petals nearest the center of the flower.


Step 10

Apply a bit of Electric Yellow Radiant Neon Amplify! to a plastic stamen; heat to activate Amplify! medium.


Step 11

Insert stamen in the center hole of the cardstock base and secure with a bit of hot glue.

Try making a couple yourself or make with a group of friends! Enjoy!

Learn to Decorate a Candle with Your Holiday Stamps. StazOn - Forest Green, Blazing Red, Jet Black, Royal Purple, Azure

This project originally started out as the Evergreen challenge but then morphed into much more than that! Very simple and quick to create, and a great hostess gift as well. You can use regular candles, or the LED wax version.

The tall Christmas Tree pillar candle is the real deal wax candle. The images are stamped on white tissue paper in StazOn Forest Green and Blazing Red and then gently fussy cut. (Note, you will want extra paper or a Craft Mat under the tissue paper as the ink WILL bleed through.)

Place the image in desired position and gently heat with a heat gun. Smooth the tissue paper down into the melted wax and smooth edges of wax with fingers. The tissue paper becomes translucent in the melted wax.

The snowman and angel candles are both the LED versions. The snowmen were stamped in StazOn Jet Black and colored with Fabrico markers. The images were die cut with a layer of cardstock underneath to cut the tissue more cleanly. The images may be reversed when applying to the candle as the color is equally vibrant on both sides. The angels are stamped in StazOn Royal Purple and Azure. All three candles are finished with decorative trim or ribbons with bows.
