See How To Create A Dynamic Looking Wedding Invitation

Hi there! Today, I have a unique wedding card technique to share with you. By using this technique each wedding invitation will have its own unique subtleties. I used Desert Sand Memento Ink but you can use the colors used in your wedding decor. Embossing folders can be used in several ways and it is fun and simple. Now that you can get wedding invitations in craft stores you can add your personal touch to the make it more special just by pasting the decorated layer on top.

Directions


Step 1

Select an embossing folder, ink the flat layer of the folder with the color of ink of your preference. Since this is a wedding card, I used Desert Sand Memento Ink because it matches well with gold and enhances the white. You can apply the ink directly with the ink pad or using a brayer. Insert the card stock on your embossing folder and pass the sandwich through your cutting machine.


Step 2

On a separate piece of card stock with the same color of the card base, stamp the couple image using VersaMark. Sprinkle Gold Embossing Powder and use a heat tool to set.


Step 3

To create a matching frame for the couple image, I inked the edges of a rectangle with the VersaMark inkpad.


Step 4

Then I sprinkled a heavy amount of Gold Embossing Powder and melted the powder with the heat tool.


Step 5

If you want to add more details this is the moment. In my sample, I tie a bow in the ribbon around of the embossed background and pasted it directly over the card base. Then I pasted the main stamped image over the decorated card base using double-sided foam tape.

Bring in the Fall Season with a "Blessings" Card with Memento in Rhubarb Stalk

The Fall Season has officially arrived and what better way to celebrate this change than to switch inks colors to rich tones and hues. In today’s card making tutorial, I am sharing a fall card created with an embossing folder, Memento ink and die cuts.

Time: 1 hour

Directions


Step 1

Select your favorite design of the embossing folder and ink the debossing part using Memento Ink. I am using the Leaf Swirl from Darice and Memento Ink in Desert Sand. Insert a piece of cardstock in your inked folder and pass the complete piece through your big shot or die cut machine. Open the folder and take out the inked, embossed layer. If you want to intensify the color, just re-ink the embossing folder and use the texture created on the cardstock to align the piece.


Step 2

Now take the embossed layer and rub softly with Memento Rhubarb Stalk – a fantastic color that matches perfectly. Let the ink dry.


Step 3

Resize your inked embossed piece using a die cut. I used the Stitched Rectangle Frame Die Cut from Cottage Cutz. The idea is to have a central embossed panel to decorate the top of your card.


Step 4

Using the same die cut, cut several layers of Very Vanilla cardstock. In my project, I used four layers. Paste one of the frames created over the card base. Then paste the rectangle inked panel inside of the frame and paste all the additional frames. For this step, the On Point Glue works wonderfully. Select a die-cut word (here I used “blessings” from Gina Marie Designs) and cut out as many words as you have frames. Stack the word die-cuts to match the frame height. See photo above for an example. This effect makes the card look like a box frame.

If I had to pick just one must-have product, it would be the Tuxedo Black Memento ink. It’s a fast drying, water-based dye ink, and it is my No. #1 choice when coloring stamped images with alcohol markers. Another advantage is the easy cleaning of the stamps. No scrubbing is needed as the water-based inks can simply be wiped away with a wet wipe. Because they clean so easily, Memento is a great ink for inking your embossing folders because they will not damage or stain your embossing folders. I used my Tuxedo Black for monoprinting a variety of cool black and white background textures that are perfect for cards, ATC’s and art journal pages. See how I did it..

Directions


Step 1

Gather all needed supplies: One or several embossing folders (any texture or pattern will do), Memento inkpad, brayer, and several sheets of white cardstock or watercolor paper.


Step 2

Using a brayer, ink one side of the embossing folder with Memento ink. If the folder image contains numbers or letters, make sure to ink the side with the mirrored numbers or letters. The folder can be also be inked only partially, allowing for two or several patterns to be printed on one page.


Step 3

Mist the inked surface gently with water. Place paper on the inked folder, press gently with your hand and pull the print. Set aside to dry, and rinse the embossing folder with warm water.

 

Step 4 (Optional)

If the printed panel is used as background for a stamped image dab white gesso or acrylic paint on the B&W pattern to calm down the busy background. Let dry.


Step 5 (Optional)

Add color to the black & white pattern by stamping textures with StāzOn in Blazing Red.

To use the backgrounds add a focal image and paste onto a card base.
