I wanted to create a background with vibrant, blended color that was also super shimmery. Fireworks! Spray was the perfect product. The colors are so bold, and the shimmer is beautiful. Using a stencil and a few other simple products made this card come together very quickly.”

by LeeAnn McKinney

Hi there friends! So as you can tell, I like making gifts for people. This little Valentine’s bag is just too cute. By the time Valentine’s Day arrives I will have 3 grandchildren, and I am making one of these bags for each, even though the third will be a newborn. This is also the second gift bag I have made fr Valentine’s Day. See the end screen videos to see my candy bag for Valentine’s gifts!

How to Use Many Types of Ink on Yupo Paper

by Roni Johnson

Completed love art piece on Yupo paper made with many types of Tsukineko inks.

Yupo is a polypropylene medium that can take all sorts of abuse and still come out looking great. Today I wanted to show you how easy it is to use with StazOn, Memento and VersaFine Clair inks with a couple of other mediums thrown in for fun. Today’s technique is only one of many different ways to use inks on Yupo paper. Experiment, have fun and if you don’t like it simply wipe it off and start over! This is a truly forgiving medium to work with.

Skill: Advanced
Time: 45minutes – 1-hour +dry time

Directions

Step 1

Use a paint brush to paint a layer of rubbing alcohol onto the craft mat.

Step 2

Add one drop of St. Valentine StazOn ink to the rubbing alcohol and slightly blend.

Step 3

Press a piece of Yupo paper into the ink mixture and lift. Repeat this step with additional pieces of Yupo or plain cardstock to pick up the excess ink.

Step 4

Mix a drop of Rhubarb Stalk and rubbing alcohol on the craft mat.

Step 5

Pounce a piece of wadded up plastic into the ink mix.

Step 6

Pounce the inky plastic over the Yupo paper to create a variety of patterns.

Step 7

Repeat steps 4 – 6 until you achieve the desired look. Try adding other ink colors for a bolder look. For my final result I used StazOn St Valentine, Claret and a touch of Gothic Purple as well as Memento Rhubarb Stalk Ink.

Step 7b (optional)

Flick rubbing alcohol over the Yupo to create additional depth and dimension.

Step 8

Spread Gold Metallic Creative Medium through a stencil using spatula palette knife.

Step 9

After the Creative Medium has dried, scribble around the heart and edge with a Marabu Art Crayon.

Step 10

Smudge the art crayon markings with your finger. Affix letters to the Yupo with On Point! Glue.

Step 11

Randomly stamp text and hearts over the Yupo canvas with VersaFine Clair Morning Mist ink.

The Purrfect Card To Make for Your Cat Loving Friends

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

It’s time for someone to take charge and change the “myth” and set things straight! That was what the cat was thinking and decided to scratch out the dog in man’s best friend and replace it with the right word! Celebrate cats with your cat-loving friends by making this high contrast purrrfect card. Black and red stamping in contrast with the white card and gray distressed background enhance the bold dimensional design. Add a cute kitty stamp front and center with a little ball of string for her to bat around as adorable final touches.

Skill: Intermmediate
Time: 1 hour

Directions

Step 1

Cut a 4 x 2 ½ piece of watercolor paper and stamp the words “DOG man’s best friend” with the VersaFine Clair Nocturne inkpad.

Step 2

Use a craft knife to scratch the word “DOG” out making it look like a kitty paw might have done it.

Step 3

Stamp the word “CAT” with VersaFine Clair in Tulip red.

Step 4

Stamp the cat design with the same color on a scrap piece of watercolor paper and cut around the shape.

Step 5

On a 3 x 1 ¼ pice of watercolor paper stamp the word “Purrrfect” using both colors of VersaFine Clair already used.

Step 6

Die cut hearts frames from watercolor paper and full hearts from tracing paper.

Step 7

Distress a 4 x 6 in. white cardstock with Memento in London fog and a sponge dauber. Then use the stencil and the same dauber to create a darker overlay pattern.

Step 8

Add Tear It! Tape to the back of your inked cardstock, remove the backing and adhere to your card base.

Step 9

Continue to add the rest of the stamped and die cut pieces using On Point Glue.

Step 10

Cut a 5-6 in. long piece of the red jute cord. Form a little ball and set on the card with On Point Glue.
