Create a Cute Mermaid Card with a Heat-Embossed Ocean Background

By Jessica Lin

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 2 hours

Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here. Do you like collecting certain stamp images? I am fond of mermaids and have a rather big collection. Today, I thought I would use this cute mermaid wooden stamp to create a card.

Step 1:
When was the last time you used a wooden stamp? If I’m being honest, I bought this stamp around 10 years ago so it was nice to see that it still inked up nicely with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped it on Classic Crest Solar White cardstock since I will be coloring with Copic markers today.

Step 2:
This mermaid image is darling and easy to color. I started by drawing strands in her hair with E50 / E53 / E55. Then I colored her skin with E000 / E00 / E11. I also added blush with R20 / R24. For the seashells, I blended BV11 / V15 / V17. I used one of my favorite color combos on her tail: BG10 / BG13 / BG18. Lastly, I color her crown with Y00 / Y11 / Y06.

Step 3:
Once I finished my coloring, I die cut the image with Spellbinders Nestabilities Floral Ovals die.

Step 4:
I wanted to create a wavy background for today’s card. I picked out DCS Hydrangea Purple, Plum Purple, Seafoam Green, Blue Calico, and Indigo Blue to create an oceanic gradient that reminds me of an underwater palace. I hand-torn them to create wavy patterns; I just love the organic feel you get with the paper fiber edges. These cardstock pieces have texture on one side, and are smooth on the other. I like the variety of textures and ended up using both the smooth and textured sides.

Step 5:
To add even more texture to the background, I heat embossed Plum Purple strips with Mboss Princess Party embossing powder, and Indigo Blue strips with Mboss Shimmery Night Sky embossing powder. I swiped VersaMagic ink directly onto the cardstock and the embossing looks great without having to heat emboss a second round.

Step 6:
Then, stamp the sentiment with Brilliance Pearlescent Purple ink pad.

Step 7:
Now it is time to put the background pieces together. I applied Tear-It Tape to the straight edge of each cardstock strip, and adhered them to the cardbase from the bottom to the top. Once you are done, cut any overhang pieces on the sides. Finally, adhere the mermaid die cut piece and the sentiment to the wavy background, and the card is complete!

Hello Friends! Katy here with my latest video! In todays video I use some Cherry Blosom Walnut Ink to create a simple background for an Easter egg die cut I have in my stash. I kept the background simple and made an A1 size card, also known as an RSVP card size. Create a Mini Halloween Bat Treat Box

By Jessica Lin

Skill: Beginner
Time: 20 minutes

– Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here. Halloween is right around the corner and today I have a really quick & easy treat box idea for you. If you are interested in making mini treat boxes and dressing them up for Halloween, Christmas, or Easter, just keep reading!

Step 1:
Die cut a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock with Design a Treatbox die from Stampin’ Up. Fold along the score lines to create a mini treat box.

Step 2:
Die cut a piece of black cardstock with the bat wing die from the same set. Then spritzed it with a generous layer of Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray in Frost. The shimmer spray really adds a whimsical touch to the bat wings! You can compare it with the die cut in the back without the Sheer Shimmer Spray. Doesn’t it look so different?

Step 3:
Then I added a smiley face to the tab of the treat box with irRESISTible Pico Embellisher. The fine-tip nozzle was so easy to use to create fine details.

Step 4:
Die cut the box labels with mint patterned paper and white cardstock. The “trick or treat” sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Meowlloween Extras set. I stamped it with Brilliance Starlite Black ink pad.

Step 5:
Since this is a mini treat box (holds 2 Hershey kisses), no tape or glue is required for the box assembly. Simply fold along the crease lines and hold it together with the flaps’ openings. This no-glue project is ideal for mass production and you could create many party favors in a short time!

Once the box is assembled, adhere the label dies to the front and slide the bat wings die between the top tabs. You could also create Christmas or Easter treat boxes with the other dies in this set.

Create ATC’s and Bookmarks Using the Gorgeous New Colors of VersaFine Clair

By Amalia Montano

Hello, friends! Amalia here with a project from Imagine. In this video, I’m using the new VersaFine Clair ink colors to create masterboards, which will later be cut into ATCs and a bookmark. VersaFine Clair inks are highly pigmented and provide a perfect stamp impression on the first try. Their vibrant colors are ideal for watercoloring, as they won’t bleed when wet. I’ll also be incorporating stamps, stencils, and stamping foam to bring these ATCs and the bookmark to life.

Tent Cards with Easy Ink Blending Using VersaColor

By Amalia Montano

I love to color! I am an avid Copic marker fan and adore using  watercolor on stamped images. Sometimes I like taking a more liberal rather than literal approach to coloring images. If you do not like to color this is the video and project for you! Find some simple lined floral images and use sponge daubers to daub, rub, smear or pounce color on. Versacolor inks are blendable and provide jut the right dry time to create a smooth finish to your design. I used heat embossing with white MBoss powder on white cardstock so the outline would stand out but not overpower. This created a soft feminine hue to the image. This would also look great in black ink. Give it a try!
