Usher In Spring With This Quick And Easy Garden Craft

Today, I have created an easy and fun project to decorate tin flower pots to welcome spring, using the new StazOn Pigment ink pads and a couple of acrylic stamps. This also makes a nice project to use on making small Easter themed tin buckets to give as gifts.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Clean well the surface of the flower pots. Stamp with the brick wood stamps using the StazOn Pigment Snowflake and Passion Red ink pads to cover around and about ¾ of the height of the flower pots.

Step 2

Stamp the quote stamp using the same StazOn Pigment ink pads but the opposite color used earlier.

Step 3

Use various sizes of flower stamps to cover flower pots, adding the StazOn Pigment Piano Black too.

Step 4

Place Tear It! Tape on the end of the brick and wood stamps used as background designs and set the ribbon.

Learn How To Blend VersaFine Clair Inks

by Roni Johnson

Learn How To Blend VersaFine Clair Inks

Sometimes colors speak volumes and Imagine’s Color of the Month for March does so for me…Peacock Feathers. I love the rich jewel tones found in peacock feathers from the brilliant greens, lush blues to the royal purple not to mention the amazing metallic glimmer thrown in for good measure. Mother Nature is amazing, isn’t she? I tried to keep all of this in mind when creating a project to share with you. I decided to use one of my favorite techniques, color blending paired with the lovely VersaFine Clair inks, I think I came pretty darn close. I hope you enjoy!

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 45 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Mask off the area that you would like to color. I have used JudiKins Eclipse Masking Tape but you could just as easily use scrap paper secured with washi tape or something similar. I wanted the colors to be bold like a peacock so I chose to work with a 2” wide area to ink.

Step 2

Begin applying the ink to the paper using a Sponge Dauber. I like to work from lightest to darkest but that’s up to your personal preference. In this instance, I began with VersaFine Clair in Verdant (bright spring green).

Step 3

VersaFine Clair in Shady Lane (darker green) is the next color in the lineup. Apply the ink beside the previous color, save the overlapping and blending till the end.

Step 4

VersaFine Clair in Paradise (cyan blue) is applied next.

Step 5

VersaFine Clair in Blue Belle (darker blue) is the 4th color added.

Step 6

VersaFine Clair in Fantasia (darker purple) is the 5th and final color added to the peacock feather stripe.

Step 7

It is time to go back and blend the colors together. To do so, look at your colors in pairs; use the lighter of the two colors to blend them both together. In this case, I am using the Blue Belle Sponge Dauber to blend Fantasia and Blue Belle together.

Step 8

Once you are satisfied with the blending, remove the masking tape (scrap paper).

Step 9

Spray the card panel with Sheer Shimmer Spray in Sparkle and let it dry completely.

Step 10

Sprinkle a few drops of All-Purpose Ink in Vegas Gold on the Craft Mat; add a couple drops of Ink Potion No. 9 (or water) to the ink and mix. Use a paintbrush, toothbrush or another tool to flick the ink over the card panel.

Step 11

Stamp a sentiment such as “hello” and a peacock feather image using VersaFine Clair Nocturne inkpad. Mat the Peacock Feather panel with Violet and Sapphire Starstruck Rinea Foiled Paper; affix to a white card base.

Learn How To Make A Hello Spring Card

Here in Finland, the winters are usually quite long, and when you now look out from the window you still see piles of snow even if it is already March! On a grey late winter day when spring and summer seem to be still quite far away, you can turn your mind already into spring mood: For that, you only need a few stamps, your favorite bright ink colors and some colorful pieces of scrap paper. When you spend a short moment stamping, cutting, and layering your colorful hand-made elements on a beautiful flower card I’m sure you will soon feel your mood rising. Happy and pleased with your creation you quickly feel that actually spring is just around the corner!

Skill: Beginner/Intermediate
Time: 1.5 hours

Directions

Step 1

Mist a piece of watercolor paper with Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Dandelion. Let dry. Place a stencil on the colored paper. Use VersaFine Clair in Summertime and a Sponge Dauber to stencil random patterns on the paper. Do not cover the entire area but leave areas unpatterned.

Step 2

Shape a chipboard grid by cutting out some parts with scissors. Color the plain chipboard with a Fabrico Pen in Real Black.

Step 3

Stamp patterns on the yellow stenciled paper, using the same orange ink. Glue the colored chipboard grid on the paper.

Step 4

Stamp flowers and leaves on pieces of colored cardstock. Stamp each flower twice; first on orange paper and then on yellow. Cut out. Layer each flower center on a base flower. Attach using 3-D foam stickers.

Step 5

Glue flowers and leaves on the card front. Write greeting word with foam letter stickers. Mat on dark brown cardstock and attach to card base.

The new StazOn Pigment ink is here!! Yay! I am so excited to share this wonderful new ink with you! I can hardly contain myself. I made a simple, springtime, gnome card to show you some of the versatility of this new ink. I stamped Peacock Feathers on kraft cardstock and Lemon Drop on a metal tag and both look great! This ink will work on porous and non-porous surfaces, dries quickly, and is OPAQUE, and sooo crisp! I really don’t know what else you need… Ok, I’m done gushing…for now. 🙂

Create A Beautiful Peacock Feather Handmade Card

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Create A Beautiful Peacock Feather Handmade Card

I am happy to share this Peacock Feather theme card. I was aiming to create watercolor-like stamping on the paper and I used Ink Potion No. 9, as it causes no damage to the paper when dries instead of spraying with water. The result was to create a background that had depth and full blur coverage while it helped the embossed designs to show up, making it the centerpiece of the card. The Sheer Shimmer Stix added the shine of gold color like the one you find on peacock feathers and it turned out perfect! See how I made this handmade card.

Skill: Beginner/Intermediate
Time: 1 hour

Directions

Step 1

Heavily spray a 4 x 6 inch watercolor paper with Ink Potion No 9. Use the VersaColor Celadon, Turquoise and Pacific ink pads to stamp peacock feathers while the paper is still wet.

Step 2

When the watercolor paper dries, stamp with the VersaMark Watermark inkpad and cover with Imagine’s embossing powder Lucky Stars. Heat set with a heat tool.

Step 3

Use a BrushStix to add color detail at the corners of the paper and the in the center of the peacock feathers with the VersaColor Royal Blue inkpad.

Step 4

Add sparkle with the Sheer Shimmer Stix in Gold.

Step 5

Cut a paper doily and stamp with the quote “Perfect Just the Way You Are” with the VersaFine Clair in Rain Forest.

Step 6

Use the Tear It! Tape to set the watercolor paper and the doily on the card base.

Step 7

Buy a pre-made frame or cast a frame with lightweight clay and when dries add sparkle with the Sheer Shimmer Stix Gold.

Step 8

Place the peacock ribbon first. Cut it in half to give the illusion it is under the frame. Attach the frame to the card face then place the sentiment inside the frame.

Step 9

Continue decorating with the paper flowers and metallic details. And you are done!
