Floral Thank You Card

By Anna Escalada York

In today’s card, I made a thank you card with some new-to-me Memento markers and sprays.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1.5 hours

Directions:

Step 1:
Stamp the large floral image with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink on watercolor paper and then heat emboss with clear Mboss embossing powder.

Step 2:
Die cut the large floral image with the corresponding die cut.

Step 3:
The large floral image was colored by watercolor smooshing a variety of Frost Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray mixed with a variety of colors of Memento Dual Markers–Love Letter and Lilac Posies. After the watercolor smooshing dried, the large floral image was watercolor painted with a Northern Pine and Pistachio Memento Dual Markers mixed with more of the Frost Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray on the greenery. The flowers were colored with a mix of Rhubarb Stalk, Love Letter and Lilac Posies mixed with more of the Frost Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray. Finally, Tangelo Memento Dual Marker was mixed with more of the Frost Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray and watercolor smooshed onto the image.

Step 4:
Spray London Fog Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray onto another piece of watercolor panel through a stencil. Then spray Paris Dusk Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray on a diagonal through the same stencil through the same stencil while the ink was still wet.

Step 5:
Stamp the thanks sentiment with more Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink on watercolor paper and then heat emboss it with more of clear Mboss embossing powder. Then die cut the sentiment with the corresponding die.

Step 6:
Die cut the sprayed background panel with the second-largest die from a nested A2-sized panel die set.

Step 7:
Glue the large floral die cut image onto the sprayed panel and then trim the edges of the floral die.

Step 8:
Mix Northern Pine Memento Dual Marker mixed with water and splatter onto the panel and floral die cut.

Step 9:
Die cut a piece of white glitter cardstock with the largest die from the same nesting die cut set.

Step 10:
Swipe Pistachio Memento Ink across the glitter cardstock to color it green.

Step 11:
Glue clear sequins and the sentiment die cut onto the upper panel. Then glued the green glitter cardstock behind the focal panel. To finish the card, glue the whole thing onto an A2-sized white card base.

Create a Halloween Themed Love Card

By Jessica Lin

Skill: Beginner
Time: 45 minutes

Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here and welcome back to another card tutorial. Have you sent Halloween cards to others before? Even though I have created some in the past, I found that I don’t usually send or hand deliver them. So this year, I decided to add a different twist and create a Halloween themed Valentine’s card!

Step 1:
Stamp the cute Vampire image from Mama Elephant’s Meowlloween stamp set. I want to watercolor the image today so I used VersaFine Clair ink with watercolor cardstock.

Step 2:
Color the image with Memento markers and a water brush. I scribbled the ink on an acrylic block and picked up colors with my water brush, but you could totally use the craft mat as the paint palette. The colors I used today are Angel Pink, Rose Bud, London Fog and Tuxedo Black. These four colors are actually sold in a set as well called Girls’ Night Out. For full color saturation, you can draw directly onto the paper. I used the fine tip end of the Rose Bud Memento marker to color in the cape. (You can see the fine lines beside the image when I was testing out the color). After coloring, I fussy cut the image with my scissors.

Step 3:
For a beginner’s project, I opted out using a die-cutting machine and used a heart punch instead. This punch from Stampin’ Up! is a decently large size and super versatile.

Step 4:
Since the background is plain and simple, I decided to ink blend the top right and bottom left corners of the card front. Versafine Clair Glamorous is the perfect shade and you can see the difference between the ink-blended and non ink-blended corners.

Step 5:
Ink splatters is the secret to elevate a card quickly. I splattered white acrylic paint across the card front to add more interest to the background.

Step 6:
Finally, I stamped the sentiment with StazOn Pigment Snowflake ink. I used words from several stamp sets and built my own using Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABCs as well.

By Alison Heikkila

Hello! I’m Alison Heikkila. Embossing folders are so popular right now, not just because of the dimension they create so easily, but because of all the techniques you ca do with them. Today, we’ll be doing a Blackout technique with Memento and VersaFine Clair Inks for Imagine, which is so much fun to do.

Let’s Make Waves! Summer Card

By Anna Escalada York

In today’s post, I am sharing a card that features a summer scene.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour

Directions:

Step 1:
Use Memento Markers–Dandelion, Cantaloupe, Morocco and Lady Bug to color the sun and
sun rays through a stencil onto watercolor paper. Blend some of the colors together by coloring
a lighter color over a darker one to create even more color variety. Use some ink blenders to ink
blend the sky with Pearlescent Sky Blue Brilliance (closer to the sun) and Ocean Depth
VersaMagic Chalk Ink (farther away from the sun.
Use a sparkly clear gel pen to add sparkle to the clouds. (This ended up being mostly die cut
out.)

Step 2:
Slowly and gently press on the cap of the Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray bottle, making
sure to only press about half way so that a small amount of splatters go onto the watercolor
panel. Allow to dry.

Step 3:
Die cut the panel with a mid-sized arch die.

Step 4:
Using daubers, ink blend Red Magic VersaMagic Chalk Ink along the bottom and right side of
the die cut (where the orange and red rays touch the edges) and more of the Ocean Depth
VersaMagic Chalk Ink along the left edge through the upper third part of the right edge (where
the blue sky touch the edges). Don’t ink blend the bottom right corner of the panel (with the sun
and cloud).

Step 5:
Using die two die cuts, die cut some blue and green patterned paper and blue mirror cardstock
to look like waves. (I used leftover die cuts from a previous project.) Glue the blue and green
cardstock wave first, and then glue the blue mirror cardstock on top of it. Make sure the left side
and bottom of both die cuts align with the edges of the arch. Trim the right side of the die cut
waves so that they stop along the edge of the arch.

Step 6:
Use the largest arch die in the set to die cut a piece of sparkly black cardstock for the matte
layer.

Step 7:
Press the Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink onto a small scrap of watercolor paper to create black
cardstock. Die cut two small bird silhouettes out of the black paper.

Step 8:
Use two die cuts to create two layers of a cloud, both out of watercolor paper. Use an ink dauber
to very lightly ink blend Pink Grapefruit VersaMagic Chalk Ink onto the base (larger) layer. Ink
blend the upper player with the same Pink Grapefruit VersaMagic Chalk Ink with a heavier hand
so the layer is a darker pink. Then spray both layers of the cloud with more Sparkle Sheer
Shimmer Craft Spray. After both layers of the cloud are dry, glue them together.
Then glue the cloud onto the right side of the card panel. I positioned my cloud to cover a small
imperfection from the stenciling.

Step 9:
Glue the birds onto the card base. (Optional step: Add glitter to the birds by coloring on them
with a sparkly clear gel pen.
Then glue the main scene onto the black matte layer.

Step 10:
Die cut the sentiment out of the same black sparkly cardstock and attach to the bottom corner of
the upper (stenciled) layer. If desired, die cut a second piece of scrap cardstock with the same
die to add dimension underneath the stencil or to help make the tittle (the dot on the i) pop up as
it doesn’t have layers of die cuts behind it like the rest of the sentiment does.

Step 11:
Glue sequins onto the bottom left corner and upper right part of the card.

Step 12:
Glue the whole card onto an A2-sized white card base.

Inking Stamps with Memento Markers for Watercolor Effect

By Jessica Lin

Have you ever tried inking stamps with markers instead of ink pads? It has been a long time since I used this technique, so I decided to revisit it again today. To blend the colors and achieve a watercolor look, you can spritz on the stamp before stamping. I love the result and I hope you do, too!

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 45 minutes

Step 1:
Color the stamps with Memento markers (tip: use the broader tip of the marker to easily cover a large area). I used three sets of colors today: Green House, Juicy Purples, and the light pink marker from Girl’s Night Out. The floral stamp is from Stampin’ Up!’s Good Morning Magnolia set. It’s a red rubber stamp and the colors may not be fully visible after you color, so I would recommend starting with the lighter shades and adding the bolder colors afterwards.

Step 2:
Spritze Sheer Shimmer Sparkle spray onto the stamp before stamping onto your card. This would blend the colors together to create a watercolor look.

Step 3:
Stamp onto the card. For the flower image, I may have used too much purple so it’s harder to see the transition from purple to pink. The leaves turned out perfectly; I really like the faux watercolor effect.

Step 4:
Use a pair of paper snips to cut along the edge of the magnolia flower. I then added a piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock to the inside of the card. The Fresh Freesia cardstock peeks through the bottom cutout edge and complements purple flower nicely.

Step 5:
Stamp a “Happy Mother’s Day” sentiment with Brilliance Purple pigment ink. I also die cut a vellum decorative strip to embellish the simple sentiment but it’s totally optional. And that completes the card! I hope you enjoy this simple technique and would give these Memento markers a try!
