Make a “Celebrate This Day” Card

by Jowilna Nolte

Every day is a gift! As a way to celebrate this notion, I created a handmade card with the theme “this day celebrate this life” to share this powerful message. See how to use layered ink to create a soft delicate effect with Tsukineko inkers. Create a beautiful effect on quick and easy cards using layered inks with a single stamp design. This effect is so easy but looks amazing against the yellow inked background, fitting right in with our color of the month–Mango. Take a look how I created this easy and effective stamped look.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 hour + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Create a watercolored style background using Tsukineko Dye Inkers in Golden Brown and Mustard. Add a few drops of both of the inkers onto your craft mat, mist or dilute with water and dip a piece of white cardstock into the ink. This ink is very dense and will coat the entire piece of cardstock. Leave to dry.

Step 2

Position the flower stamp and cardstock piece with the Misti Stamping Tool and stamp using VersaFine Clair in Pinecone.

Step 3

Clean the stamp and while keeping it in the same position, ink the image with VersaMagic Mango Madness. Stamp over the same image with the yellow to soften the brown ink color and create an additional layer.

Step 4

Stamp the sentiment “this day celebrate this life” overlapping the flower images using VersaFine Clair in Nocturne to make it stand out against the brown and yellow tones.

Step 5

Above is another version of this design. You can play with these ideas to create several cards. From here detail the design in your own style with brads, sequins, diamanté, and mount to the card base to finish the card.

This card brings a desire for summer vacations and relaxation that makes you want to be inside the scene with the warm colors and the sense of calmness it gives. It allows you to dream of the place of a tropical island or somewhere in Africa. The deep colors of VersaFine Clair ink pads make them ideal for vibrant shades on paper and Imagine’s Sheet Metal pieces. Create a Sunny “Hello” Card for a Good Friend

by Elina Stromberg

Create a Sunny "Hello" Card for a Good Friend with Memento DewDrops

Our wonderful color of the month is ‘Mango’. That rich and warm yellow color took my mind right in the middle of sunny summer days, and that feeling inspired me to create a summer-themed flower card. Matter of fact—I made two card fronts on one go, but instead of creating two identical greeting cards I trimmed the other one into an ATC card. Love them both!

Skill: Beginner
Time: 45 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Stamp image on white paper with VersaMark. Heat emboss with Imagine’s Embossing Powder in Black.

Step 2

Apply the two shades of yellow inks in Memento on the background using a brayer. Start with the lighter color and add the darker yellow on top. Do not cover the entire background but ink the center of the card only.

Step 3

Using the Craft Mat as a palette, press ink on the craft mat. Pick up colors with a water brush, and paint the image.

Step 4

Cut stamped card front to size and mat on a white card base. Die-cut the “hello” sentiment twice, glue together with On Point Glue and attach to the card front.

Above is ATC version of this card in a vertical format and without the “hello” sentiment.

  • Stampendous – Cling Daisy Cluster Stamp
  • Sizzix – ‘Hello’ die

See How to Monoprint with VersaFine Clair

I’ve been curious to see how VersaFine Clair inks would work when used with a gel plate and finally made the time to give it a try. The rich colors meant I got very beautiful prints with each layer and the natural translucency of VersaFine Clair allowed me to build up some depth and color mixing between the layers without having to mingle the actual inks. Check out the video to see how I used VersaFine Clair and friends to create this sweet little bunny scene.

Make a Happy Birthday Card with Layered Stamping

by Martha Lucia Gomez

Make a Happy Birthday Card with Layered Stamping in VersaMagic DewDrop

One of the advantages of using chalk inks like VersaMagic is the soft texture created for your cardmaking projects. Creating texture and mixing colors is easy when you use the DewDrops because of the control and use of the tip of the inkpad. On this project, I used a single flower image to create a beautiful pattern and a stamping tool to create this eye-catching birthday card.

Directions

Step 1

Using a stamping tool, stamp the first flower with VersaMagic Mango Madness as a base color.

Step 2

Since Mango Madness is a relatively light color, I had to stamp the image over the Very Vanilla cardstock twice to make all the flowers and leaves details evident.

Step 3

Keeping the stamp and the paper in the same place, apply and combine the colors of the VersaMagic directly over the stamp. Make sure not to contaminate the ink pad with different colors. But if this happens to you, don’t worry, you can clean your ink pad with a paper towel.

Step 4

Repeat the stamping process until creating the background that you want. Keep the pattern of colors or change it to others with each image. On this card, I used VersaMagic Mango Madness, Red Magic, and Ocean Depth. To complement the background you can splatter some tiny spots of Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Tuxedo Black. I also used a few splatters of All-Purpose Ink in Champagne Mist to give to my background a shimmery touch. Stamp your sentiment using VersaMark, sprinkle with Imagine’s Embossing Powder in White and melt the powder with the heat tool.

Step 5

To finalize the card, resize the stamped background, sponge the borders with VersaMagic Wheat and tie a few loops of natural hemp twine around. Paste directly over the Crushed Curry card base using Tear It Tape and paste your sentiment with dimensionals or double-sided foam tape. If you consider necessary, you can repeat the splatter process to enhance some parts of the card.

Supplies

Imagine
Other
  • Cardstock – Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Crushed Curry
  • Stampin Up – Heartfeld Blooms
  • MISTI or Stamparatus
  • Heat tool
  • Natural hemp twine
  • Double sided foam tape or dimensionals

Create Mango Madness with VersaMagic DewDrops

by Jowilna Nolte

Create Mango Madness with VersaMagic DewDrops

Who doesn’t love a happy color like Mango?! Well, today I combine two sunny VersaMagic colors to create a fun textured “Yes” themed encouragement card using recycled paper. Take a look at how I create loads of interest on this happy card with this versatile pigment ink, some texture paste, and a die cut. The DewDrop inkpad wears its color and versatility like a superstar.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes + dry time

Directions

VersaMagic in Mango Madness
Step 1

Create your own stamp by die-cutting small foam circles and adhering them to an acrylic block. Tack N Peel is perfect for turning anything into a stamp. Ink the stamps using VersaMagic in Mango Madness and stamp repeatedly onto your background.

Step 2

Add a small amount of VersaMagic in Mango Madness onto your craft mat or a plastic sheet. Lightly press the ink pad onto the surface to transfer some ink.

Step 3

Add a small amount of texture paste next to the VersaMagic ink on the craft mat. Start off with a small amount and add more as you need it to avoid wasting.

Step 4

Use your palette knife to mix the ink into the paste to create a colored texture paste.

Step 5

Apply the paste through a stencil onto the stamped background. Overlap the stamped images several times to create interest. Leave the stenciled paste to dry thoroughly.

Step 6

Use a paintbrush to lift some VersaMagic in Thatched Straw and create a washed watercolor effect over the stamped and stenciled circles. Mix the ink with a small amount of water and paint it directly onto your background, then leave to dry. Add color to a chipboard circle using two shades of VersaMagic ink and adhere the circle to your card. Add sewing details to the circle. Finish off your card with diamanté and sequins.
