Learn How to Craft a Centerpiece with Painted Rocks

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

During a walk by the beach, I couldn’t resist of taking stones with me, thinking that they can be a part of a centerpiece for the table on my terrace. Keeping them simple, I decorated these rocks with All-Purpose Ink, Fireworks New Sprout, and VersaFine Clair. The rocks can be placed in a large tray or even large candle lanterns with candles being decorative both day and night.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Paint the pebbles with the All-Purpose Ink in Green Apple.

Step 2

While the paint is still wet, spray with the Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in New Sprout. Let the pebbles dry well or speed up the process with a heat tool.

Stamp designs with the VersaFine Clair in Rain Forest.

Step 4

Add details with the irRESISTible Pico Embellisher in Gold.

Project Swap: Glamorous Mixed Media Butterfly Card

Project Swap: Glamorous Mixed Media Butterfly Card

Welcome to the first set for our Artist Project Swap with Arjita and Elina. For the Month of May, we challenged our artists to exchange tutorials and create each other’s designs in order to see how each of our artists interprets style and choices. The receiving artist did not know who designed the project, nor did they receive any images! In today’s post, Elina Stromberg wrote the directions and recommended supplies list and Arjita created the project.

Glamorous Mixed Media Butterfly Card
by Arjita Sepaha Singh

For the month of May, Imagine challenged the Artists in Residence with a project swap. We were matched up with another team member and exchanged tutorials. I am working with Elina’s Stromberg’s instructions and product recommendations. I loved the swap and it was such a great way to try different creative styles. The original supplies list used VersaMark and Vintage Plum Embossing Powder. Since I did not have was the plum embossing powder, I used a plumy color of ink with clear powder.

See How to Make a “Thinking of You” Fairy Card

by Steph Ackerman

Fairies are sweet little mythical creatures from stories we read as a child and they are the inspiration for today’s cardmaking tutorial. They were always colorful, happy and enjoying life and make the perfect subject for a greeting card that reads “Hello” or “Thinking of You!” I recently got these stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creations and just had to use them. I knew that Fireworks Shimmery Craft Sprays would be perfect for creating magical color backgrounds. I absolutely loved creating these cards!

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Spritz Fireworks Spray in Grape Jelly and Bamboo Leaves on the Craft Mat. Repeatedly dab a white cardstock panel in the inks until the panel is covered. Spritz Ink Potion #9 on the craft mat. Pick up the remaining ink with the second panel of white cardstock. This is a great blending technique because the contrasting colors will mix while still in the liquid form.

Step 2

Spritz Fireworks Spray in Angel Pink and Bamboo Leaves on the craft mat. Repeatedly dab a white cardstock panel in the inks until the panel is covered. Spritz Ink Potion #9 on the craft mat. Pick up the remaining ink with the second panel of white cardstock.

Step 3

Stamp two separate fairy images with Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black or VersaFine Clair in Nocturne. Emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Die cut image.

Step 4

Use a selection of Memento Markers to color both fairies.

Step 5

Ink the Fireworks Grape Jelly panel with matching VersaMagic in Purple Hydrangea Ink. Die cut white and purple ovals in graduating sizes. Ink the edges of the white oval with VersaMagic Purple Hydrangea Ink. Die cut image and adhere with On Point Glue.

Step 6

Cut yellow cardstock to fit the card. Ink edges of panels with VersaMagic in Sahara Sand. Adhere the Fireworks in Angel Pink panel to the yellow cardstock. Die cut a second sheet of yellow cardstock. Cut the Fireworks in Angel Pink panel to fit. Adhere to the card. Adhere the die cut image to the pink panel. Add dimension to the dandelions with Wedding Dress irRESISTible.

Step 7

Stamp the phrase “Thinking of You” in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black or VersaFine Clair and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Die cut and ink around the edge with VersaMagic Sahara Sand. Mat with a larger die and add to card with foam adhesives.

Step 8

Add the Fireworks Grape Jelly panel to a purple card and wrap with ribbon. Add image to card with foam adhesives. Stamp sentiment in Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Die cut and mat with the larger purple die.

Make a Card with VersaMagic Mango Madness

by Iris Rodriguez

Make a Card with VersaMagic Mango Madness. cardmaking tutorial. Spring time blooming flowers theme.

This month’s color at Imagine is Mango. Do you like mangoes? They are delicious. I like plain mangoes, mango juice, even mango in my summer salads. After creating today’s project, I can add to my list of mango appreciation VersaMagic Ink in Mango Madness. As I started using this beautiful color, I soon realized I could not stop at just coloring my tree; I also colored white paper flowers and a butterfly with this ink as well. You could say I had a Madness for this Mango Ink.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1.5 hours

Directions

Step 1

Spray the paper with water. Spray with Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Summer Sky. Dry paper.

Step 2

Ink the paper with VersaMagic in Aegean Blue, Thatched Straw and Memento Luxe in Wedding Dress using the Sponge Dauber, Inkblusher, and Smudgee.

Step 3

Using a Sponge Dauber ink through the flowering tree stencil with the VersaMagic in Mango Madness. Emboss using Clear Embossing Powder. Place the stencil over the image again and ink through the stencil with the VersaMagic in Mango Madness. Emboss the image with the Sparkle Embossing Powder.

Step 4

Ink a scrap piece of watercolor paper on one side ink with VersaMagic in Thatched Straw and the other half ink the VersaMagic in Mango Madness. Emboss both colors using the Clear Embossing Powder. Punch out the butterfly with each ink color.

Step 5

Layer one butterfly over the other, adhere together with On Point Glue. Stamp the word “hello” on a piece of paper, cut a tag shape around the sentiment. Punch a hole in the center. Tie a piece of embroidery thread on the butterfly and tag.

Step 6

Ink VersaMagic in Thatched Straw on the Craft Mat, spray water and dip paper flowers in it, ensuring to completely color the flowers. Dry the flowers.

Step 7

Ink VersaMagic in Mango Madness on the flowers. Glue the flowers, butterfly, and tag onto the tree background using On Point Glue. For the yellow background paper, cut a piece of paper a little bigger than the main card, and ink the out edges with VersaMagic in Thatched Straw. Assemble the card by mounting the flowering tree stencil card panel to the yellow background card base.

I hope you are mad about this month’s color the way I was and give this project a try.

Do you have a friend who you would like to show appreciation? Water coloring stamped images is my favorite cardmaking style and I am always on a hunt for new mediums to use for the water colored effect. In this video, I used Altenew stamps, Gold embossing, and Fireworks Shimmery Craft Sprays to create this beautiful yellow rose friendship card and it turned out very pretty.
