Project Swap: Glamorous Mixed Media Butterfly Card

Project Swap: Glamorous Mixed Media Butterfly Card

Welcome to the first set for our Artist Project Swap with Arjita and Elina. For the Month of May, we challenged our artists to exchange tutorials and create each other’s designs in order to see how each of our artists interprets style and choices. The receiving artist did not know who designed the project, nor did they receive any images! In today’s post, Elina Stromberg wrote the directions and recommended supplies list and Arjita created the project.

Glamorous Mixed Media Butterfly Card
by Arjita Sepaha Singh

For the month of May, Imagine challenged the Artists in Residence with a project swap. We were matched up with another team member and exchanged tutorials. I am working with Elina’s Stromberg’s instructions and product recommendations. I loved the swap and it was such a great way to try different creative styles. The original supplies list used VersaMark and Vintage Plum Embossing Powder. Since I did not have was the plum embossing powder, I used a plumy color of ink with clear powder.

Learn How to Create a Stained Glass Butterfly with Tsukineko StazOn Studio Glaze

The StazOn Studio Glaze is a fun and versatile mixed media product by Tsukineko that can be used on paper, glass, wood or metal. I can think of so many different applications for this product. Here, I am using it with a cute butterfly stamp from Simon Says Stamp and an acetate sheet to create a stained glass butterfly. This project is easier than it appears and provides great results.

Do you have a friend who you would like to show appreciation? Water coloring stamped images is my favorite cardmaking style and I am always on a hunt for new mediums to use for the water colored effect. In this video, I used Altenew stamps, Gold embossing, and Fireworks Shimmery Craft Sprays to create this beautiful yellow rose friendship card and it turned out very pretty. This is a great crafting project for a best friend gift or to show someone you care.

See How to Monoprint with VersaFine Clair

See How to Monoprint with VersaFine Clair

I’ve been curious to see how VersaFine Clair inks would work when used with a gel plate and finally made the time to give it a try. The rich colors meant I got very beautiful prints with each layer and the natural translucency of VersaFine Clair allowed me to build up some depth and color mixing between the layers without having to mingle the actual inks. Check out the video to see how I used VersaFine Clair and friends to create this sweet little bunny scene.

Upcycle a Thrift Store Find with VersaMagic DewDrops video tutorial.

I love giving old things new life. I found an old metal flower decor piece at a thrift store and I just couldn’t resist a little upcycle love. In today’s video, I show you how to use products like VersaMagic chalk ink and irRESISTible texture sprays to color metal pieces to mount on a stenciled canvas. This product is still as vibrant and rich on metal as it is on paper.
