Use Fantastix to Create Your Own StazOn Marker

by Jennifer Vanderbeek

Use Fantastix to Create Your Own StazOn Marker

Creating your own, custom, StazOn Markers is as simple as the three Ss: Smoosh, Spritz, and Soak! Smoosh the ink on the craft mat, Spritz the StazOn cleaner, and Soak with the Fantastix. By using StazOn All-Purpose Stamp Cleaner to make the StazOn ink more fluid, you can vary the strength of the colors in your markers to create a greater range of colors. This way the StazOn colors you love on the pad can be used to color in your favorite images. See how I demo this in today’s YouTube tutorial.

After altering our canvas with tissue and Creative Medium, we’ll mask out or elements with washi tape and add layers of Delicata for a burnished patina. How to Bring Doodle Flower Background Stamp to the Foreground

by Jennifer Vanderbeek

How to Bring Doodle Flower Background Stamp to the Foreground with embossing powder and VersaMark ink

By definition and design, background stamps are usually the foundation of a piece, not the focus. In this project, I show a way to highlight an amazingly detailed Mandala style background stamp from Joy Clair with embossing and ink blending to create a simply beautiful card with the look of a rich textile. Choosing a pattern stamp with fine details and plenty of open spaces is key to this particular technique, but experiment and see what works for you.

How to Blend Different Stamps in the Same Mermaid Card Project

by Jennifer Vanderbeek

How to Blend Different Stamps in the Same Mermaid Card Project with VersaFine Clair

This Fintastic Mermaid card is one of those examples of how a color and a single image can inspire a whole project. This month’s color challenge is Sea Breeze, so I immediately reached for VersaFine Clair in Warm Breeze—a favorite from the first time I stamped it. That plus the Lovely Swirl background (which, when turned on its side, reminds me of waves) gave me a clear direction for this delightful little mermaid card.

One of my favorite parts of the process was mixing various stamps from different manufacturers but tying them together seamlessly by keeping the same non-traditional outline color throughout. Try it next time and see how it works for you!

Project Swap: Learn How to Make a Friend Celebration Card

Project Swap: Learn How to Make a Friend Celebration Card

Welcome back for another Artist Project Swap with Jennifer and Kyriakos. For the Month of May, we challenged our artists to exchange tutorials and create each other’s designs in order to see how each of our artists interprets style and choices. The receiving artist did not know who designed the project, nor did they receive any images! In today’s post, Jennifer writes the directions and recommended supplies list and Kyriakos created the project.

Learn How to Make a Friend Celebration Card by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Project Swap: Learn How to Make a Friend Celebration Card

Sometimes we need to tell our friends how much we love and appreciate them! In this cardmaking tutorial, I go through several steps of stenciling and stamping to create a cute card using Creative Medium, Fireworks Spray, and VersaFine Clair. The combination of shimmer with complimenting colors creates a fun and bright look. See how I did it!

Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Mix Creative Medium in Clear and Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray in New Sprout on the Craft Mat with a palette knife and press through a circle stencil positioned on the center-right side of a 3 ¾” x 5 ¾” piece of white cardstock. Allow to dry or set with heat tool.

Step 2

Stamp sets of stems and centers of flowers with VersaFine Clair ink in Verdant, focusing more to the left of the Creative Medium.

Step 3

Stamp details with VersaColor ink in Orchid over flower centers.

Step 4

Stamp filler details around the top and sides of the card front and add leaves to the stems with Memento Luxe ink pads in Pistachio and Pear Tart.

Step 5

Stamp a butterfly next to one of the flowers with VersaColor in Orchid.

Step 6

Stamp a sentiment in VersaFine Clair in Nocturne in the lower right card front.

Step 7

Mat the completed card front to a 4”x 6” piece of pink cardstock and attached to a card base.
