Make a “Celebrate This Day” Card

by Jowilna Nolte

Every day is a gift! As a way to celebrate this notion, I created a handmade card with the theme “this day celebrate this life” to share this powerful message. See how to use layered ink to create a soft delicate effect with Tsukineko inkers. Create a beautiful effect on quick and easy cards using layered inks with a single stamp design. This effect is so easy but looks amazing against the yellow inked background, fitting right in with our color of the month–Mango. Take a look how I created this easy and effective stamped look.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 hour + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Create a watercolored style background using Tsukineko Dye Inkers in Golden Brown and Mustard. Add a few drops of both of the inkers onto your craft mat, mist or dilute with water and dip a piece of white cardstock into the ink. This ink is very dense and will coat the entire piece of cardstock. Leave to dry.

Step 2

Position the flower stamp and cardstock piece with the Misti Stamping Tool and stamp using VersaFine Clair in Pinecone.

Step 3

Clean the stamp and while keeping it in the same position, ink the image with VersaMagic Mango Madness. Stamp over the same image with the yellow to soften the brown ink color and create an additional layer.

Step 4

Stamp the sentiment “this day celebrate this life” overlapping the flower images using VersaFine Clair in Nocturne to make it stand out against the brown and yellow tones.

Step 5

Above is another version of this design. You can play with these ideas to create several cards. From here detail the design in your own style with brads, sequins, diamanté, and mount to the card base to finish the card.

Create a “Just Keep On Swimming” Encouragement Card

by Roni Johnson

Create a "Just Keep On Swimming" Encouragement Card

Mango Madness! What a fun ink color name huh? It makes an even better color of the month to help welcome in the summer. As I was thinking about a project to share for April, I instantly thought of these darling little fish from Stamptangle and a fun underwater scene. VersaMagic’s Mango Madness was the perfect foundation for it all.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 Minutes + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Sponge VersaMagic in Mango Madness on white cardstock roughly the size of 3 of the fish.

Step 2

Stamp one large and one small fish with VersaFine Clair in Nocturne over the inked cardstock. Ink the small fish stamp with VersaFine Clair Nocturne and stamp on the craft mat.

Step 3

Place a piece of Mango Madness cardstock face down over the stamped image and burnish. The result is a perfect reverse image of the original.

Step 4

Add colorful highlights using Memento Dual-Tip Markers. Stamp underwater foliage using VersaMagic in Mango Madness, VersaFine Clair in Verdant and Rain Forest. Fussy cut all images and set aside.

Step 5

Construct a window card using a light blue cardstock and a piece of Vertigo film; adhere the film to the card using Tear It Tape. Adhere all images to the front and inside portions of the card using On Point Glue. Apply rub-on letters to form the sentiment. Finish off the card by applying dots of Wedding Dress irRESISTible Pico Embellisher as bubbles.

Make a Happy Birthday Card with Layered Stamping

by Martha Lucia Gomez

Make a Happy Birthday Card with Layered Stamping in VersaMagic DewDrop

One of the advantages of using chalk inks like VersaMagic is the soft texture created for your cardmaking projects. Creating texture and mixing colors is easy when you use the DewDrops because of the control and use of the tip of the inkpad. On this project, I used a single flower image to create a beautiful pattern and a stamping tool to create this eye-catching birthday card.

Directions

Step 1

Using a stamping tool, stamp the first flower with VersaMagic Mango Madness as a base color.

Step 2

Since Mango Madness is a relatively light color, I had to stamp the image over the Very Vanilla cardstock twice to make all the flowers and leaves details evident.

Step 3

Keeping the stamp and the paper in the same place, apply and combine the colors of the VersaMagic directly over the stamp. Make sure not to contaminate the ink pad with different colors. But if this happens to you, don’t worry, you can clean your ink pad with a paper towel.

Step 4

Repeat the stamping process until creating the background that you want. Keep the pattern of colors or change it to others with each image. On this card, I used VersaMagic Mango Madness, Red Magic, and Ocean Depth. To complement the background you can splatter some tiny spots of Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Tuxedo Black. I also used a few splatters of All-Purpose Ink in Champagne Mist to give to my background a shimmery touch. Stamp your sentiment using VersaMark, sprinkle with Imagine’s Embossing Powder in White and melt the powder with the heat tool.

Step 5

To finalize the card, resize the stamped background, sponge the borders with VersaMagic Wheat and tie a few loops of natural hemp twine around. Paste directly over the Crushed Curry card base using Tear It Tape and paste your sentiment with dimensionals or double-sided foam tape. If you consider necessary, you can repeat the splatter process to enhance some parts of the card.

Upcycle a Thrift Store Find with VersaMagic DewDrops

Upcycle a Thrift Store Find with VersaMagic DewDrops video tutorial.

I love giving old things new life. I found an old metal flower decor piece at a thrift store and I just couldn’t resist a little upcycle love. In today’s video, I show you how to use products like VersaMagic chalk ink and irRESISTible texture sprays to color metal pieces to mount on a stenciled canvas. This product is still as vibrant and rich on metal as it is on paper.

Make a Gorgeous Set of Cards with a Floral Theme

by Elina Stromberg

Make a Gorgeous Set of Cards with Floral Theme with VersaMagic Ink

I love working with VersaMagic inks. Those chalky inks look gorgeous both on light and dark cardstocks, and the ink’s rich and creamy consistency make stamping simple and fun. In addition to stamping the VersaMagic inks can be applied directly from the inkpad on the cardstock. Possibilities are endless for creating beautiful stenciled and masked backgrounds!

I made a set of ATC cards, using black cardstock as the card panel. For background patterns, I used a simple masking technique, in which I covered parts of the background with a strip of a torn piece of paper and dabbed VersaMagic ink on the black cardstock. The pictures don’t do justice to the wonderful shimmering finish!

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 hour

Direction

Step 1

Cut four ATC cards of size 2.5” x 3.5” from black cardstock. Using a piece of torn paper mask parts of the ATC background, and apply VersaMagic in Cloud White on the cardstock. Move strip, and apply more ink until the entire background is decorated.

Step 2

Stamp flowers on white cardstock with various VersaMagic colors.

Step 3

Using VersaFine Clair in Nocturne, stamp flower borders on top. Stamp flower centers with VersaFine Clair in Summertime. Let dry and fussy cut flowers and stems with scissors. Glue flowers and stems on ATC’s. Decorate with stamped sentiment words “Create, Keep Calm, Dreamer.” If you want to have a border around the card, trim the edges, and mat the card on white cardstock cut to ATC size.
