Use your paper crafting projects to make home decor, such as this wall hanging. It’s quick, easy, and fun to do. Best of all, these projects make great gives that are hand-crafted with love.
Skill Level: Intermediate Time: 1 hour
Instructions
Step 1: Place a piece of low-tack tape horizontally across a piece of Mixed Media paper. Place the Cloud Edger stencil slightly below the top of the paper. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Summer Sky Memento Ink over the top of the stencil. Move the stencil downwards and rotate it, then apply Summer Sky Memento ink over the top. Repeat until the cloudy sky is complete.
Step 2: Tear a piece of scrap cardstock and place the torn edge horizontally under the cloudy sky, secured with low-tack tape. Flip the panel 180°. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply a light layer of Teal Zeal Memento Ink to cover the bottom portion of the panel.
Step 3: Place the Water Ripples stencil over the sponged teal area and secure with low-tack tape. Use the Sponge Dauber to apply Teal Zeal Memento Inks over the stencil onto the image panel. Trim the panel to 5.25” x 7.75”.
Step 4: Secure the image panel to the base of a stamping platform. Position the Caravelle stamp facedown on the top left of the image panel so that the bit of ocean at the bottom of the stamp is even with the top of the sponged sea. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression. Remove the stamp from the platform.
Step 5: Position the Open Sea Quote Stamp facedown on the lower right part of the image panel. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary. Remove the stamp and the image panel from the platform. Heat set the image panel.
Step 6: Use pens to color the Caravelle. Sorry that there are no photos.
Step 7: Use Tear-It! Tape to adhere the image panel to a piece of 5.5” x 8” black chipboard or heavy weight cardstock.
Step 8: Wrap twine twice around the base of the piece and tie a knot.
Step 9: I decided that the sea looked kind of “blah”. I squeezed a few drops of Moonlight White Re-inker onto my craft mat and used a stylus to apply the re-inker to the sea to look like white caps.
Let’s make a vintage inspired flower card with Walnut Ink Sprays!
Skill Level: Intermediate Time: 1.5 hour
Step 1: Spray Java Walnut Ink Spray onto a craft mat. Mist with water.
Step 2: Press a 4.25” x 5” panel of watercolor paper into the Java Walnut Ink puddle. Lift and press the paper again until the panel is colored. Heat set.
Step 3: Press lace into the remaining Java Walnut Ink puddle and let it soak it up to color the lace. Heat set.
Step 4: Lightly mist the watercolor panel, then use a paper towel to dab spots to create a variegated background.
Step 5: Place the panel between pieces of cardstock onto the base of a die-cut machine. Place cutting plates overtop, then crank the sandwich into the machine to help flatten the cardstock.
Step 6: Remove the cardstock, trim to 4” x 5.25” and edge it with Pinecone VersaClair Ink. Set aside.
Steps 7A through 7D: Spray watercolor paper with Eucalyptus Walnut Ink Spray. Mist with water. Heat Set (7A). Repeat with Cherry Blossom Spray (7B), Lilac Walnut Ink Spray (7C), and TerraCotta Walnut Ink Spray (7D). Please note that I created lighter panels by misting with more water.
Step 8 A and B: Use the flower cutting dies from the Into the Blooms: Clover Die set to cut the Cherry Blossom and Lilac Walnut inked panels.
Step 9: Use the Paper Blossoms Tool Kit to shape the flower die-cuts.
Step 10: Use On Point Glue to layer and adhere the shaped flowers. BTW, my nails are dirty because the Walnut Ink Spray stains!
Steps 11A and 11B: Use a sponge dauber to apply Verdant VersaFine Clair Ink to a piece of watercolor card. (11A). Use a second sponge dauber to apply Green Oasis VersaFine Clair Ink overtop. Go back over the panel with Verdant VersaFine Clair Ink to blend. Heat set.
Steps 12A and 12B: Use the stem and leaves cutting dies from the Into the Blooms: Clover Die set to cut the Eucalyptus Walnut Inked panel and the VersaFine inked panels.
Step 13: Using a sponge dauber, apply Cheerful VersaFine Clair Ink to a watercolor panel. Heat set.
Then, use the flower center die from the Into the Blooms: Clover Die set to cut enough centers for all the flowers created in step 10. Use On Point Glue to adhere the yellow flower centers to the flowers. Sorry that I forgot to take photos.
Steps 14A and 14B: Use Pinecone VersaFine Clair Ink to apply the TerraCotta Pot Eclectic Red Rubber Cling Stamp onto the TerraCotta Walnut Inked panel, then heat set. Afterward, fussy-cut the panel and edge it with Pinecone VersaFine Clair Ink.
Steps 15A and 15B: Ink the “Birthday Wishes” stamp from the Mixed Messages Clear Stamp Set with Pinecone VersaFine Ink and stamp it onto the Lilac Walnut Inked panel. Next, use a tiny tag cutting die from the Thinlits Tag Collection to cut out the sentiment.
Step 16: Use a sponge dauber to apply Pinecone VersaFine Clair Ink to the outside perimeter of a white A2 card. Heat set.
Step 17: Staple the lace to the base of the Java Walnut Ink panel. Use On Point Glue and Tear-It! Tape to adhere the flowers, leaves, and flower pot to the front of the card as shown. No photos. Sorry! Use Tear-It! Tape to adhere the card front to the Pinecone VersaFine Clair-inked white card.
Let’s experiment with Imagine’s fabulous Walnut Ink Sprays!
Skill Level: Intermediate Time: 1 hour
Step 1: Using a stamping platform, ink the Grunge Flower stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good. Impression. Stamp a second time onto repositionable sticker paper. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version to be used as a mask later.
Steps 2A and 2B : Spray Cherry Blossom Walnut Ink into a small container (2A). Add water into a second container. Use a paint brush to watercolor the flowers’ petals, varying the intensity of the color by diluting the ink with water (2B). When done, wash and dry the containers.
Steps 3A and 3B: Spray Lilac Walnut Ink and water into small containers (3A). Use a paint brush to watercolor the flowers centers, varying the intensity of the color by diluting the ink with water (3B). When done, wash and dry the containers
Steps 4A and 4B: Spray Cherry Blossom and Lilac Walnut Inks into separate containers. Spray a small amount of Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray into both containers and into a third container (4A). Use paint brushes to paint the circular elements of the stamped image with sparkly Walnut inks (4B).
Steps 5A and 5B: Adhere the repositionable sticker masks from Step 1 atop the stamped and painted images. Smoosh Gold Sheer Shimmer Stix onto the craft mat (5A). Use a brush to apply over the masked images. Also use the applicator top to apply the shimmery gold ink directly to the image panel. Wipe the excess away with a paper towel (5B).
Steps 6A and 6B: Repeat Steps 4A and 4B to add more shimmery walnut ink to the containers (6A). Load a paint brush with the ink then tap the paint brush to splatter the image panel (6B). Repeat with the second color. I wanted more splatter, so I loaded a clean toothbrush with ink and splattered the panel even more. (No photo). Remove the masks and heat set the panel.
Step 7: Use the smaller die from the Frayed Frames Die Set 26 to cut the image panel. Use the larger die from the same set to cut black cardstock. Use Tear-It! Tape to mat the image panel die-cut with the black die-cut. (Sorry! No photo).
Step 8: Place the matted image panel into a stamping platform. Position the “Flower” Sentiment from the Grunge Flowers Stamp Set 2 facedown on the bottom right of the image panel. Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamp and lift. Ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression.
Step 9: Remove the impute panel from the platform and place onto paper. Sprinkle Clear MBoss powder onto the stamped sentiment. Dump the excess back into the container. Heat set the sentiment.
Step 10: Create an A2 card from purple cardstock. Use Tear-It! Tape to adhere the image panel to the card.
Let’s make a cheerfully bright and fun birthday card with a stamp, two stencils, and lots of ink!
Skill Level: Intermediate Time: 1.5 hour
Step 1: Use magnets to secure a piece of white Bristol paper to the base of a stamping platform.
Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink to stamp the bird stamp from the “I’m Fine” image twice — once onto the image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper. Heat set the stamped image panel.
Step 2: Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it onto the image panel as a mask.
Step 3: Use low-tack tape to secure the Sunshine Small Stencil onto the stencil so that the “sun” is over the bird’s face. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Love Letters Memento ink over the mask and masked image onto the image panel (3A).
Use a separate Sponge Dauber for each color to apply Tangelo, Dandelion, Bamboo Leaves, Bahama Blue, Danube Blue, Lilac Posies, and Grape Jelly Memento inks in rainbow order (ROYGBIV) counter-clockwise over the stencil onto the image panel (3B). Not all stenciling is shown. Remove stencil.
Step 4: Use low-tack tape to secure the Confetti Stencil over the image panel. Use a Sponge Dauber to apply Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink over the stencil and masked image onto the top left and bottom right of the image panel (3A).
Use a separate Sponge Dauber to apply Golden Glitz Delicata ink over the stencil and masked image onto the top right and bottom left of the image panel (3B).
Remove the stencil and heat set the image panel. Set aside.
Step 5: Secure a piece of black cardstock to the base of a stamping platform. Place the “You’re the best” sentiment from the Whatcha Saying? Clear Stamp Set, the “Happy Birthday”, “Celebrate”, and “Happy Birthday” sentiments from the Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Sets facedown on the black cardstock.
Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamps, lift the platform, ink the stamps with the VersaMark Dazzle ink, and stamp. Remove the black panel from the stamping platform.
Step 6: Sprinkle White MBoss Powder onto the stamped sentiments, slide the the excess powder back into the bag, and heat set the sentiment.
Step 7: Use cutting dies to die-cut the sentiments. Trim the left side of the “celebrate” flag and the right side of the “happy birthday” flag. Use Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink to edge the trimmed sides. Heat set the ink. Put the sentiment die-cuts aside.
Step 8: Use watercolor markers to color the bird’s eyes and beak. Use a white gel pen to add highlights to the eyes and beak. (No photo, sorry!)
Step 9: Trim the image panel to 3.75” x 5”. Use a Sponge Dauber to edge the top left and bottom right with Silvery Shimmer Delicata ink (9A).
Use a separate Sponge Dauber to edge the top right and bottom left with Golden Glitz Delicata ink (9B).
Step 10: Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the image panel to a black panel cut to 4” x 5.25” and to adhere the matted image panel to a white A2 card.
Use Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the sentiments to finish the card.
I’m delighted to be returning to the Imagine Crafts AIR program again this year. Our first assignment was to create a project that reflected ourselves. I love creating scenic cards, magical creatures, and cats!
Skill Level: Intermediate Time: 1.5 hour
Step 1: Use magnets to secure a 4” x 5.25” piece of white cardstock onto the base of a stamping platform. Use Nocturne VersaFine Clair ink to stamp the Puss in Boots image twice — once onto the image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper.
Step 2: Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it onto the image panel as a mask.
Step 3: Use low-tack tape to secure the rolling hills mask from the Acetate Hills Mask set to the image panel as shown.
Use a sponge dauber to apply Dandelion Memento ink over the mask and masked image onto the image panel. (3A). Use another dauber to apply Angel Pink Memento ink onto the image panel so the pink ink is slightly overlapping and blending with the yellow ink (3B). Repeat this step with Summer Sky Memento ink (3C), then Danube Blue Memento ink (3D).
Step 4: Spray the image panel with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to slightly blend the colors and to add some white speckles and splatter.
Step 5: Trace the rolling hills mask from the Acetate Hills Mask set onto white cardstock, fussy-cut along the trace lines. Label the top and bottom of the mask so you know which is which. Place the top homemade mask over the sky area of the image panel and secure with low-tack tape. Use a Fantastix to apply Cottage Ivy Memento ink over the mask onto the image panel (5A). Place the acetate rolling hills mask below the hilly horizon. Use a Fantastix to apply Cottage Ivy Memento ink over the mask onto the image panel (5B). Continue this process to add additional grassy hills.
Step 6: Use a sponge dauber and Bamboo Leaves Memento ink to fill in the grassy hills. Colors the white area of the tail and the wings with Copic markers. Set the image panel aside.
Step 7: Place a piece of 4.75” x 6.75” Mixed Media cardstock into a box. Spray the panel with Danube Blue Firewords Spray to create a shimmery blue background panel. Heat set.
Step 8: Use magnets to secure the background panel to the base of a stamping platform so that panel is sideways. Position the long leafy border stamp from Puss in Boots Clear Stamp Set facedown along the edge of the background panel. Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair, and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression. Heat set.
Keeping the stamp on the platform’s lid, flip the background panel, secure it with magnets, and stamp the border on the other side of the background panel. Heat set.
Step 9: Reposition the background panel as shown and secure with magnets. Place the small flourish stamp facedown horizontally on the top left of the background panel. Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair, and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression. Heat set.
Clean and dry the stamp. Reposition it so that it’s facedown on the top left of the panel. Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair, and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression. Heat set.
Remove the flourish stamp. Place the paw print stamp so that it’s centered and facedown on top of the background panel. Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair, and stamp. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a good impression. Heat set.
Step 10: Place the “Crazy Cat Lady” stamp facedown so that it’s centered at the bottom of the image panel. Press the platform’s lid onto the back of the stamp, lift the lid, ink the stamp with Frost VersaMark ink, and stamp. Repeat.
Step 11: Sprinkle on Black MBoss Powder, slide the the excess powder back into the bag, and heat set the sentiment.
Step 12: Use a Sponge Dauber to edge the background panel with Black Shimmer Delicata ink (12A). Heat set. Trim the image panel to 4.25” x 5.25” and edge with Black Shimmer Delicata ink (12B). Heat set.
Step 13: Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the image panel to the background panel and the background panel to a 5” x 7” black card.

Now (many years later) I am my own boss working as a business consultant, so I can balance my time and do more of what I love – papercrafting! There’s always so much to learn in papercrafting, and I find great joy in adding my own twist and sharing what I’ve learned. I love Imagine products. There’s such a wide range of media supplies. Hello! My name is Alison Heikkila and I have been a crafter my entire life. My mom started me off with coloring and stringing beads from a very young age, and I never stopped. I have an art degree with a specialization in jewelry and sculpture, but I love working in many mediums and styles. Getting inky is absolutely one of my favorite things!
I have an amazing husband who loves to see what I create each day (and even crafts along with me sometimes!) and two very creative kids. Sometimes the four of us craft together, which is so much fun. We’ve also got two dogs, and we reside in New York.

Hi, I am Amalia from Cool Cakes and Crafts with Amalia on YouTube. I am new to the team but a longtime paper crafter. I started my crafty adventures as a Wilton Method of Cake Decorating instructor for 17 years, (that’s where the “Cool Cakes” comes from) then a fellow instructor invited me to a SU! Party and I was hooked! I live and work in New York City and while it certainly is a big city you would be surprised how far outside of the city I have to travel to find paper crafting resources! Thank goodness for online shopping and Imagine! Aside from baking and card making, I also make beaded jewelry and create projects with polymer clay. Hi, I’m Nancy May, mother, sister, friend, licensed clinical social worker, creative, but you might know me as Handi Scandi. I have been crafting for many years – since my adult children were littles. It started as an inexpensive way to decorate my home to make it cozy for my family, and when my children loved to get messy with me in the process it became so much more. All of my children are creatives and creativity manifests itself differently in each of us. Stamping became my safe space, if you will, shortly after my youngest daughter passed away. I needed something to focus on rather than grief, and I remembered how much I loved stamping and card making. This crafty life has taken on a life of its own and I have been introduced to the wonderful world of card making on a much grander scale. As I learn more and more about art and the creative process I find myself drawn to mixed media, art journaling, grunge, stencils, sprays, pastes, and inks…glorious inks! I am an intuitive crafter who rarely has a plan, loves to get messy and inky and shows myself grace throughout the process. I reframe mistakes as opportunities and almost never throw things away. Through all of this I am developing my own style that I have coined grungy elegance. I am a crafty gal in my late twenties, but my passion for cardmaking started a long time ago when I was 9. I was introduced to wooden stamps and I haven’t stopped stamping since. I am Ceal Pritchett and I reside in the mountains of western North Carolina with my husband and our little fur baby Shih Tzu. I have been a crafter in some form since childhood. I fell in love with cardmaking around 15 years ago. I am a clean and simple cardmaker who sometimes dabbles in other things like art journals, bible journaling, and painting.
Anna Escalada York grew up on a farm outside of Phoenix, Arizona and moved to Portland, Oregon to go to college, where she met her husband. They have two children (one in high school and the other in middle school), a cat and two guinea pigs. She is also a proud teacher at her local high school for almost 20 years in SE Portland, Oregon (go Lightning)! Her other hobbies are reading, riding her bike, nerding out to Star Wars, and reading.
Anna has been crafting (almost exclusively card making) since 2004, but stepped away for a while when it was too hard to juggle the demands of being a mom of little children and working full time. She returned to her craft room in 2019 and started blogging consistently in 2020. One of her recent crafty achievements has been creating 700 cards in 2021. Her favorite craft supplies include heat embossing, using splatter, and coloring with markers. Her favorite style is sparkle!
