Create a “Hello Friend” Card with Pico Embellisher

by Iris Rodriguez

Create a "Hello Friend" Card with Pico Embellisher

I love stamps as much as the next crafty person. Sometimes, I like to hand draw my own images though. Did you know you can draw your images with Imagine’s irRESISTible Pico Embellisher? IrRESISTible is a texture medium; which adds dimension to your project. It comes with a fine-tipped applicator for writing or making doodles. For the background, I used various All-Purpose Inks to create a watercolor painted look and then drew on top with the Pico Embellisher.

Skill: Beginner/Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Determine how many colors of All-Purpose Ink. Prepare a water container for each color, so that you do not contaminate the colors; also, avoids running the risk of your ink turning into a mud color. Use a different for each color, or wash the brush between each color if using the same brush.

Step 2

First, wet the area with plain water. Place a small amount of ink into one of the ink wells. Add water to the ink and brush onto the paper.

Step 3

Repeat the same process for each color. Do not blend the colors; just lay them next to each other. Dry the paper.

Step 4

Brush on Creative Medium in order to seal in the All-Purpose Ink. Draw your image using Zeal Teal irRESISTible Pico Embellisher. If you are not used to this medium, first practice drawing on a piece of scratch paper. Always squeeze out the Pico Embellisher onto scratch paper to eliminate the bubbles, before applying to your project. Finally, stamp on sentiment and assemble the card.

Color of the Month for August is Desert Sand

Color of the Month for August is Desert Sand. This light cream color is a beautiful way to express warm soft earthy tones. Not only is it a great compliment to chocolate browns but it looks great with a shimmery element. If you are looking for a soft shimmery gold that is not bright yellow then we highly recommend inks such as Delicata Champagne or Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Desert Sand. If you are looking for a dye ink to blend with brown colors then Memento Desert Sand is also a great choice.

August also brings a collaboration with Rinea Foil Paper. Look out for how unique and versatile these foil papers are in paper crafting and jewelry making projects.

Here is a Sneak Peek of what we have to offer.

Learn How To Upcycle A Pencil Holder With Embossing Powder

I just love how the glittery combination of Imagine’s new Mboss Embossing Powders shine. I made this cute pen and pencil holder with Princess Party (silver and purple combination) and Lucky Stars (gold and green combination). I love the way these two colors work together to transform a pencil box from neutral colors to bright vibrant home decor.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 hour

Directions

Step 1

Select a cardboard-based pencil box. A plain box works as well. If it has designs it can be covered with gesso.

Step 2

Apply the gesso to the pencil box making sure to paint on enough layers to fully cover the current design. Allow to fully dry.

Step 3

Stamp the textured image with the VersaMark ink. Apply Mboss embossing powders in Lucky Stars and Princess Party. Apply one color in random areas. Shake off the excess on a clean scrap piece of paper and place back in the bag. Apply the second color in the areas that do not contain embossing powder. Shake off the excess on a different clean scrap piece of paper and place back in the bag. Melt the powder with a heat tool.

Step 4

Glue on the flowers.

Step 5

Apply embossing powders on all sides, if desired.

Learn to Create a Quick and Easy Wood House with Walnut Crystals

by Iris Rodriguez

Learn to Create a Quick and Easy Wood House with Walnut Crystals

This is a fun easy peasy DIY Home Décor project made using a wooden house and walnut ink. The house can be purchased at most craft stores or if you’re a woodworker, just cut out a 4×4 into a house shape. I colored the house with Walnut Ink Crystals and embossed images with Imagine’s new Mboss White embossing powder.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 30 minutes + drying time

Directions

Step 1

Mix a few Walnut Ink crystals into a small amount of water. The crystals dissolve quickly and the amount you use will determine the density and rich color of the ink. Once you have mixed the crystals, brush on the Walnut Ink. Let the ink dry completely. You can use a heating tool or allow it dry naturally, which takes about an hour.

Step 2

Apply VersaMark ink through the stencil with an Inkblusher. Add the White Mboss embossing powder and apply heat to melt the embossing powder. The embossing powder is 100% opaque so the final result is beautiful showing embossed images on the sides on the back. That’s it! Now you have a nice home décor, custom made by you.

Create A Fashion Forward Birthday Card With Mboss

by Iris Rodriguez

Create A Fashion Forward Birthday Card With Mboss

This month I had the pleasure of using Imagine’s new Mboss embossing powders for my projects. They are fine embossing powders that come in a lot of colors and glittery combinations, for instance: Valentine which is red and gold, New Year’s Eve which is black and gold, as well as special effect powders like gold metallic and new solid colors. In this project, I used glittery color combinations Valentine for the dress and New Years Eve for the background, purse, and sentiment. Check it out!

Skills: Beginner
Time 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Using a dress template or die cut, cut out a dress from watercolor paper.

Step 2

Place dress on foam and burnish the back side of the dress with a stylus. The dress will take on a curved shape giving it a dimensional look.

Step 3

Ink the front of the dress with the VersaMark ink.

Step 4

Apply Valentine Mboss Embossing Powder and using a heat tool, melt the powder. These new embossing powders come in a bag, in this image I added some powder onto a dish so that you can get a good view of this awesome color.

Step 5

Using the VersaMark ink, stamp a background image. Apply New Years Eve Mboss embossing powder and melt the powder with a heat tool. Do the same on the “Happy Birthday” sentiment and purse.

Step 6

Adhere a ribbon sash to the waist of the dress. Apply On Point Glue to the edges of the dress only and glue onto the card base. This will help to keep its dimension.

Step 7

Assemble the card with the dress, birthday sentiment, and matching card base.
