Watch a Video on How to Create a Marbling Look with a Feather Quill

Watch a Video on How to Create a Marbling Look with a Feather Quill

Sometimes when I sit down at the craft table I have a very definite idea in mind, other times it’s more of a general concept. Even when I have that definite idea in mind, though, it’s no guarantee that’s where I’m going to end up! Case in point: these backgrounds began in the direction of marble but ended up so very far afield. The fact that one has a definite camo look and the other a more delicate spring meadow is cool in and of itself, but when you consider I used the exact same shades of VersaMagic and techniques to get both, well, it’s easy to see how you can maximize your craft time by going with the flow!

See How to Make a Paper Rainbow Pinwheel Wreath

by Roni Johnson

See How to Make a Paper Rainbow Pinwheel Wreath with VersaMagic Ink.

It’s April! Can you believe it? I wanted to make something fun for summer to hang on our front door and I think this rainbow pinwheel wreath is just the ticket. It’s bright, cheerful and welcoming to all who grace our doorstep. I decided to use 21 different colors of VersaMagic ink to grace my rainbow but of course, any color theme would be perfect for this project. The complete color list can be found in the supply list below.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 4 hours

Directions

Step 1

Cut eight 5-inch squares, seven 4-inch squares, and six 3-inch squares from white cardstock.

Step 2

Pencil in lines from corner to corner. Draw a 1-inch circle in the center of each square.

Step 3

Punch a hole in each triangle near the corner as shown.

Step 4

Sponge ink on the lined side of the cardstock. Only a portion of each triangle needs to be colored.

Step 5

Flip the square over and stamp the desired pattern on each of the triangles. Repeat steps 4 & 5 until all of the squares have been inked.

Step 6

Cut along the penciled lines from the tip to the edge of the circle. Fold each triangle over to the center, line up the holes and secure with a brad.

Step 7

Repeat steps 7 & 8 until all squares have been turned into a pinwheel.

Step 8

Cut out a wreath shape from chipboard.

Step 9

Hot glue largest pinwheels to the wreath first, fill in blank areas with the medium and small pinwheels. A stack of foam board was used to elevate the smaller pinwheels above the larger ones.

Express Love and Happiness in this Wedding Congrats Card

by Steph Ackerman

With the onset of spring, thoughts can turn towards weddings. When creating a wedding card, I love to incorporate the colors in the wedding party. Pairing the bold look of VersaFine Clair Inks with the soft shimmery look of Delicata Inks creates a bold and dramatic statement.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 Hour

Direction

Step 1

Cut white cardstock to fit an embossing folder and run the paper and folder through a die cut machine. Mask off the top of the panel and apply Shimmery Silver Delicata Ink across the bottom half of the embossed by skimming the inkpad over the papers surface.

Step 2

Mask the bottom of the panel and apply Fantasia VersaFine Clair Ink to the top half of the embossed panel.

Step 3

Mat embossed panel with purple cardstock. Wrap with white twine. Mat with silver cardstock.

Step 4

Stamp phrase with Fantasia VersaFine Clair and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Using oval nesting dies, eie cut and ink the edges with Shimmery Silver Delicata Ink. Mat with a larger die cut in purple and add to card with foam adhesives for dimension.

Step 5

Adhere the panel to a purple card with foam adhesives. Use On Point Glue to adhere half pearls to some of the flowers on the embossed panel.

Create a Beautiful “Mr & Mrs” Congratulations Card

by Martha Lucia Gomez

Create a Beautiful "Mr & Mrs" Congratulations Card

Stenciling with color and texture always makes for a stunning project. This concept is perfect for wedding cards as it keeps the look elegant and still unique. Make something special for the happy couple with just one design element and two different products: Memento and Creative Medium. Take a look at how to do it!

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Secure the stencil over cardstock and using a jumbo dauber apply the Memento ink in circular motions. Try to create an ombre effect or gradient of color. Leave the stencil and paper where it is for step 2.

Step 2

Now apply Creative Medium Clear over the inked area. Not only will it add texture, but you will notice how it will intensify the color when it is dry. When you finish this step, remove the stencil immediately and wash with warm water. Let this dry completely before finalizing the card.

Step 3

On a piece of vellum stamp the wedding sentiment or image using VersaMark and White Embossing Powder. I used two images included in the stamp set Wedding Wishes by Joy Clair. Then I cut the stamped image with one Nesting Oval Infinity Die from Hero Arts and colored some details of it using colored pencils that match the Tangelo Memento ink.

Step 4

To finalize the card, paste the stamped oval using double-sided foam tape. To avoid seeing it through the vellum I put the foam under the embossed area. I also complimented the design with a Congratulations die cut word that I adhered using On Point Glue.

Create An Elegant “Always & Forever” Wedding Sign

by Steph Ackerman

Create An Elegant "Always & Forever" Wedding Sign using a Purple Theme

As Summer is on its way, it’s time to start thinking about the upcoming wedding season. For this project, I wanted to incorporate Creative Medium acrylic paste so I decided to do some experimenting. The iridescent material in pastes pops on the black chalkboard piece and creates a beautifully vibrant effect. To match all the colors, I also applied the pastes to cardstock to make flowers. Take a look at how I created a beautiful decorative sign using Creative Medium and VersaFine Clair.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Tape the stencil to the chalkboard, covering any parts of the stencil you don’t want to use with extra tape.

Step 2

Using a pallet knife, cover the stencil with Creative Medium Purple Iridescent.

Step 3

Remove the stencil and allow the Creative Medium to dry.

apply Creative Medium Iridescent Purple onto a strip of purple cardstock
Step 4

Use a pallet knife to apply Creative Medium Iridescent Purple onto a strip of purple cardstock. Use a pallet knife to apply Creative Medium Metallic Gold onto a strip of green cardstock. Allow both pieces to dry before moving on to next step.

Step 5

Stamp flowers with VersaFine Clair Fantasia Ink on the strip of purple cardstock. Stamp leaves with VersaFine Clair Green Oasis Ink on the strip of gold covered green cardstock.

Step 6

Using the coordinating dies, die cut the flowers and leaves. Assemble the flowers by shaping the petals with a stylus and piecing together with brads.

Step 7

Use On Point Glue to adhere the flowers and leaves to the panel.

Step 8

Tie purple ribbon to the panel. Use On Point Glue to adhere pearls about the panel. This piece would look great hanging on the back of the bride and grooms chairs, near a floral display or by the guest book. It would be easily customized to match the wedding colors of choice as well!
