Learn how to Make a Tri-fold Wedding Anniversary Invitation

by Roni Johnson

Learn how to Make a Tri-fold Wedding Anniversary Invitation

It’s approaching the traditional wedding season so I thought I would create a quick and simple wedding invitation that could also be used for weddings and for anniversary celebrations. I was inspired to switch it up a bit because my husband and I will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary in a couple of years. Quite the milestone these days. I love sparkle so I knew the Sheer Shimmer line was the way to go with this design.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour

Directions

Step 1

Cut a 4.25 x 6” white cardstock panel. Use tape to mask off one-third of the panel. Use Frost Sheer Shimmer Stix to apply one or two layers of sparkle to the panel. When you remove the mask the frosty shimmer will become more apparent. Let this layer dry completely.

Step 2

Stamp a large pattern design over the frosted area using VersaMark ink. I used a zentangle-looking swirl pattern.

Step 3

Sprinkle the pattern image with White Embossing Powder, shake off excess and return it to the jar. Heat the embossing powder to melt. You now have a lovely, shimmery white underneath the textured embossed area.

Step 4

Affix grey sparkly ribbon to the bottom of the embossed design using Tear It! Tape.

Step 5

Color two hearts with Sheer Shimmer Spritz. In keeping with the simple, elegant design I used Pewter and Frost.

Step 6

Cut a dark grey cardstock panel 6.25 x 12”; score at 4.5” and 9”. This creates the tri-fold panels.

Step 7

Use Tear It! Tape to adhere the panel to the front of the card.

Step 8

Affix the hearts to the card front using double stick foam tape.

Step 9

Prepare cardstock panels for the inside of the card using Frost and Pewter Sheer Shimmer Spritz.

Step 10

Print and die-cut information about the upcoming nuptials or other celebration as is the case in the example.

Step 11

Apply Morning Mist VersaFine Clair to the edge of each die-cut using a sponge dauber. This will give the edge some contrast. Affix the die cut information to the inside of the card.

Step 12

The outside of the card has the two hearts and the ribbon.

Step 13

Add more sparkly ribbon to the inside panels as the final touch.

Learn How to Blend Ink using Shimmer Stix

by Roni Johnson

Learn How to Blend Ink using Shimmer Stix

New products are always fun but they are even MORE fun when it sparkles which is exactly what Shimmer Stix has in spades. It’s the same beautiful Shimmer Spritz Spray in a fun new package. AND this card is doing double duty by picking up on the Color of the Month – Living Coral but with a twist, it is a combination of 2 Radiant Neon colors blended together to make one with the help of Shimmer Stix.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Cut a piece of white cardstock to 3.75 x 5 inches. Rub Radiant Neon Electric Coral on the upper portion of the card panel. Rub Electric Orange Radiant Neon Ink directly over the Electric Coral. Rub Electric Orange Radiant Neon Ink directly over the Electric Coral.

Step 2

Use the Shimmer Stix to blend and drag the inks together down the length of the panel.

Step 3

This blends the ink and colors the panel with shimmer at the same time. It’s hard to show the truly beautiful shimmer you get from the Shimmer Stix but this photo captures a bit of that shimmer and sparkle.

Step 4

Cut a cover-up using the Gina Marie Flower Burst Trio Cover Plate on white cardstock. Mount the cover up onto the Shimmer Blended card panel and affix to a black card base.

Step 5

Cut three “Sparkle” sentiments, one from blue cardstock and two from black cardstock.

Step 6

Use On Point Glue to glue the layers together with the blue on top. Apply a layer of Shimmer irRESISTible Pico Embellisher to the sentiment and let dry. Add a dot of Electric Blue irRESISTible Pico Embellisher to the center of each flower. Adhere the sentiment to the card using On Point Glue. Just look at that beautifully blended shimmer!!

See a Stamping Technique Inspired by Impressionism

We all need a little inspiration sometimes and, for this project, I took my inspiration from the Impressionism style of paintings from the 1860s.  It resulted in a fun project using the All-Purpose inks and other Imagine products to create a miniature floral scene on a 4”x4” flat panel canvas.

Create a Rainbow Background with Memento Markers and Shimmer Stix

by Lindsay Adreon

I LOVE anything and everything rainbow in cardmaking, and if it sparkles, that’s even better! Making a rainbow watercolor background is pretty simple, but adding a good amount of sparkle without making mud can be more tricky. The Shimmer Stix are the PERFECT applicator to make a fun background that keeps its bright and vibrant colors without sacrificing any of the sparkle! I was so excited that the Shimmer Stix worked for this technique and can’t wait to try them with an ombre background, next!! I made two cards today, a birthday and hello card, plus check out the inside, too!!
