Create an Inspiring Card with Rinea Foil

What perfect way to create an Autumn inspired card than using the wonderful range of StazOn inks from Imagine and Rinea Foils. These foils are great for coloring and die-cutting and together make for a stunning effect. Take a look at how I achieved this stunning end result using these amazing products.

Directions


Step 1

Add a layer of wide double sided tape to the back of a sheet of Rinea Foil and adhere it to a piece of plain cardstock to make it nice and firm for die-cutting.


Step 2

Use a frame die to cut the foil. Because of the added cardstock, the die did not cut through but rather created an embossed look. The double-sided tape also helps to keep all those little pieces intact adding to the overall look.


Step 3

Use your StazOn inks with the direct to paper technique to add color to the foils. Start with the lightest color first and then work your way to the darkest color. Repeat as necessary to add as much color as you like. The raised areas on the foil will pick up the color, but leave some of the green foil visible adding to the multicolored effect.


Step 4

On smooth white cardstock stamp leaves using VersaFine Clair Pinecone ink.


Step 5

Mix Walnut Ink Crystals with water to create a liquid. Then use a water brush to paint your leaves. Create shading by adding plain crystals and then blend them with your water brush to dissolve them into a darker shade on your leaves. Cut out the leaves.


Step 6

Stamp a sentiment on an oval card using VersaFine Clair in Pinecone. Lightly ink the edges with the same color and a sponge dauber.


Step 7

Adhere the foil panel to the front of your card, add the cutout leaves and then add a layer of GlazOn to the leaves and leave to dry. The foil adds a beautiful shimmer and together with all the colors you have just created a spectacular fall theme encouragement card.

Learn How To Make A Gingerbread Theme Gift Tag

Make some cute gingerbread theme tags for your gift giving this holiday season. Inspired by the numerous light brown inks and products that fall into this color scheme, I created these holiday tags to inspire you. Enjoy!

Skill: Advanced
Time: 30 minutes per tag

Directions


Step 1

On your Craft Mat mix a small amount of glossy texture paste and Delicata Golden Glitz inker.


Step 2

With a palette knife, apply the colored paste to some white cardstock and leave to dry. A nice thin layer is all you need – add as much texture and dimension as you want.


Step 3

Once the texture paste is dry, use VersaMagic Gingerbread and color the entire piece of cardstock. Blend the ink over the texture paste, then cut a strip about 3cm wide and the length of you tag.


Step 4

Stamps some Christmas baubles (or ornaments) in VersaFine Clair Nocturne.


Step 5

Use a small paintbrush and VersaMagic Gingerbread to add color to your stamped baubles (ornaments). Add ink to your Craft Mat, mist with water and pick up the color to paint your images.


Step 6

Use the direct to paper technique to color half of the length of your manilla tag using the VersaMagic ink pad.


Step 7

Add irRESISTible Pico embellisher in Shimmer and Desert Sand to your baubles (ornaments) and leave to dry.


Step 8

Use VersaFine Clair and a sentiment stamp, and stamp repeatedly down the colored side of the tag.


Step 9

Adhere the paper strip down the left side of the tag and add decorative sewing. Adhere the colored baubles (ornaments) using foam tape for dimension. Adhere one bauble (ornament) flat and cut off overlapping side. Add diamanté and other flourishes to finish it up.

Create A Modern Christmas Card With Masking Technique

Masking is one of those age-old techniques that we often neglect, but when it comes to creating quick and easy Christmas cards I love using this technique for great impact. The layers of Christmas trees have a great look and adding masking gives them fabulou depth and dimension. Combine this simple technique with an elegantly colored ink palette and you have a winner.

Time: 1 hour

Directions

Morning Mist VersaFine Clair ink
Step 1

Stamp several small and large trees onto a card panel using Morning Mist VersaFine Clair ink. Stamp one each of the same trees onto scrap paper or cardstock. The thinner the better. And if you have sticky notes around that is first prize.


Step 2

Cut out the trees that you are going to use for your masking – the thin paper ones. Notice how I cut only the triangle piece of the tree.


Step 3

Place the masked trees onto the stamped panel layering them onto the matching trees using some temporary adhesive.


Step 4

Now stamp more trees and make sure that the stamped images already on the base are covered with the masks.


Step 5

Remove the masks to reveal your layered trees that now sit behind the trees that you first stamped.


Step 6

Use the Shady Lane VersaFine Clair ink and ink only half of the large tree.


Step 7

Use washi tape to mask off one half of the tree and then ink the stamp, but remember to remove the tape before stamping or otherwise the inked tape will also stamp onto your panel. Stamp the image on top of one of the large trees for added interest. Stamp an additional small tree with VersaFine Clair in Shady Lane onto white, cut out and use foam tape to layer onto a smaller stamped tree. Add other embellishments and paint splats to finish off your card.

Create an Elegant Christmas Tag with Grey Ink

It is that time of the year again when I try and get a head start in making my Christmas cards and tags. This holiday tag is an easy one that I could replicate quickly without making too much of a mess and yet it looks gorgeous. I love the layered look of grey stamping and colorful ink blend for a simple and elegant statement. The grey color from VersaFine Morning Mist is gorgeous and it’s not too harsh making this my perfect go-to ink color for stamping.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour

Directions


Step 1

Stamp a wreath and sentiment onto a manilla tag in VersaFine Clair Morning Mist.


Step 2

Use Memento Luxe and a jumbo dauber and blend Love Letter ink around the edges outside of the stamped wreath.


Step 3

Use Memento Luxe Pistachio and blend inside the stamped wreath area.


Step 4

Use VersaFine Clair Shady Lane and stamp several leaves onto smooth white cardstock. Cut out the leaves.


Step 5

Use On Point Glue and adhere the leaves in clusters in two sections on the stamped wreath.


Step 6

Use On Point Glue and make small drops of glue on the berries and then lightly sprinkle with gold glitter and leave to dry. Shake off the excess glitter and brush clean the tag of stray glitter pieces.


Step 7

Adhere the leaves, add embellishments as desired and then add some colored ink or paint splats to finish off your tag with some added details.

Create a "Be Happy, Be Kind" Scrapbook Layout

For this super fun scrapbook layout, I wanted to create a background using some of my favorite craft sprays—Fireworks! These amazing sprays create a color splash and shimmer which has a nice effect with a colorful “Be Happy, Be Kind” scrapbook layout like this one. As I created my background something truly magical happened with the ink and I really loved the end result. Scroll through the steps below to find out what it is!

Time: 1 hour or more

Directions


Step 1

Gather at least 3 colors of Fireworks! Sprays to use on your background. I selected Lady Bug, Lilac Posies and Bahama Blue.


Step 2

First, I sprayed a patch of Bahama Blue in the middle of my layout and left it to dry for a few seconds. Then I added splats with all 3 of my colors. If you’d like colors to layer make sure you allow them to dry fully before using another color.


Step 3

Once the Fireworks splatter layer was dry, I added stamping texture with a mixed media feel using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink.


Step 4

Add texture with a circle stencil and Creative Medium and let dry. I wanted to add more deliberate splats to create a layered effect. Drop large drops of Fireworks onto the background in Lady Bug.


Step 5

Then use Bahama Blue and drop some of the ink directly onto the red drop and let it pool for a few seconds.


Step 6

Then I added more drops of Lilac Posies on top of the blue and let the ink colors blend. Since Fireworks is a dye-based ink the blending will happen if all the inks are still wet.


Step 7

The ink created the most amazing puddles of shimmer once dry. I totally love the unpredictably of the effect these inks layered on top of each other have.


Step 8

I used the same color to spray some flowers that would perfectly match my layout background.


Step 9

Once I was happy with my background I assembled my layout with photo, cut out flower layers, inked flowers and other embellishments. You don’t always have to have tons of crafting inks to be creative – all you need is a plan and a few amazing inks.
