With Love Is The Sentiment Today

Make your colors pop and become more vibrant by using layers of ink on top of each other and add a magical spray of Ink Potion to it. A quick resist effect and stenciling adds to this fun love inspired Valentine’s Day card in shades of red.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes

Directions


Step 1

Adhere a stencil (brick design) to a piece of white cardstock. Use Sweet Plum and Love Letter Memento Luxe ink pads and blend color through the stencil.


Step 2

Leave the stencil in place for this step. Use an ink blusher and a small amount of gloss texture paste and swipe it over the stencil. Using a small amount at a time will prevent the paste from seeping underneath the stencil. Carefully remove the stencil and leave to dry. Wash your stencil immediately.


Step 3

Trim your stenciled panel smaller to fit onto the front of a card. Use a heart stencil and modeling paste to add a stenciled design to your background. Leave the paste to dry.


Step 4

Once the paste is dry, spray Lady Bug Fireworks over the right side of the panel to add color. Mist the entire panel with Ink Potion no.9 and see how all the colors pop. The resist from the glossy paste leaves the design clear only letting the ink sit inside the open spaces adding more color in selected areas.


Step 5

Use VersaFine Clair Glamorous and stamp onto white cardstock using a background design. Die-cut small and large hearts out of the stamped piece.


Step 6

Ink the panel around the edges using Memento Rich Cocoa to highlight the color even more. Adhere the hearts using foam tape for dimension. Emboss a sentiment and adhere to the large heart. Add ink splats in red, white, brown and black. Finish off your card with diamante.

Make It Happen with this Beautiful Art Journal Design

Who wants to “Make things happen” in 2019?  I sure do and that is what inspired me to make this 4” x 6” Art Journal page featuring a variety of Imagine products. The tutorial includes how to use your Craft Mat to create a watercolor background effect with irRESISTible sprays as well as how to create a watercolor palette for detail coloring with Memento inks.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 hour

Directions


Step 1

Apply VersaFine Clair (Medieval Blue & Teal Zeal) to a 4” x 6” Art Journal panel with Jumbo Daubers.


Step 2

Spray panel with Ink Potion No. 9 and encourage the ink to blend.


Step 3

Spray Teal Zeal irRESISTible Texture Spray directly onto your Craft Mat.


Step 4

Lay the panel, facedown, into the wet ink and lift. Set aside and allow to dry.


Step 5

Spray Teal Zeal irRESISTible ink directly onto the panel in a few key areas. Allow to dry.


Step 6

With VersaFine Clair in Nocturne, randomly stamp script across the panel.


Step 7

Spray Art Journal Panel with Sheer SHIMMER Craft Spray in Sparkle. Allow to dry.


Step 8

Stamp the four-butterfly image (from the Tim Holtz Alterations French Flight stamp/die set) on to the panel with VersaFine Clair in Nocturne. Stamp the image just off center and then to the left of the panel.


Step 9

From the same Butterfly stamp set, stamp the large butterfly image into a piece of white cardstock with VersaFine Clair in Nocturne.


Step 10

Apply three colors of Memento (Morocco, Teal Zeal, Elderberry) directly onto your Craft Mat and then add water; use like you would watercolors to paint the butterfly image. Allow to dry.


Step 11

Spray the butterfly image with Sheer SHIMMER Spray in Sparkle.  Allow to dry.


Step 12

With the coordinating die from the stamp set, die cut the butterfly image.


Step 13

Adhere black thread, in a circle pattern, underneath the butterfly and then mount to panel with double-sided foam tape (directly over the previously stamped image).


Step 14

With a paintbrush, apply GooseBumps Clear Texture Spray to butterfly. Allow to dry.


Step 15

Edge panel with VersaFine Clair in Nocturne and then embellish with adhesive pearls.


Step 16

Add sticker sentiment “Make It Happen” below the colored butterfly.


Step 17

Add the pages, back panel and metal rings to transform this project into an art journal.

See How to Create a Mixed Media background with Self-Made Washi Tape

Create a Valentines’ day card with a mixed media feel and matching washi tape that you make yourself in a few easy steps using your Imagine Craft Mat. Add interest with inks and textures layered to create interest.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour

Directions


Step 1

Spray a piece of white cardstock with Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Lady Bug and leave to dry.


Step 2

Use the direct-to-paper method and ink the remainder of the pane using Lady Bug and Lilac Posies Memento DewDrop inkpads.


Step 3

Use sponge daubers with ink to create a bokeh effect to the background. First, add red inked circles using Memento Luxe in Love Letter and then add white Brilliance circles over the top and slightly off-set for a fun effect.


Step 4

To create your own matching washi tape, adhere a strip of masking tape to your Craft Mat.


Step 5

Use Memento DewDrop ink pads to add color to the masking tape strip.


Step 6

Use VersaFine Clair in Morning Mist and a texture stamp to add script stamping to the tape. Leave the ink to dry before adhering the tape to your card.


Step 7

Carefully peel the masking tape off of your Craft Mat and adhere the washi tape to your card panel.


Step 8

Emboss the panel using a love-themed or Valentine’s Day themed embossing folder. Add a layered die-cut heart with a silver leafed heart on top. Finish off your card with ink splats and diamanté for a mixed media look and feel.

Learn How To Create A Grungy Heart Notebook For Valentines

This project is all about making something out of nothing.  At least, nothing as in a piece of corrugated cardboard from a discarded box and lined paper from an old notebook.  These reuse items, paired with a few Imagine Fireworks sprays, create a beautiful notebook that would be a great gift for friends or family.  In the tip video, I will show you how to use Fireworks sprays with a liquid varnish to create a permanent finish.  This is a helpful tip especially if you are into Mixed Media.

Directions

 


Step 1

Start by drawing a heart shape (approximately 4 1/4” x 4” in size) onto a piece of corrugated cardboard. Cut out shape.


Step 2

Trace the heart onto a piece of heavy weight cardstock and cut out.


Step 3

Line up the corrugated and cardstock heart shapes and punch a hole in the upper left hand corner.


Step 4

Tear off sections from top layer of paper on the corrugated heart, exposing he corrugated layer underneath.


Step 5

Paint a layer of Gesso over the front and back sides of the corrugated heart. Lay a stencil down over the corrugated heart and apply modeling paste. Only apply in small sections around the heart.


Step 6

On your craft mat, mix Rhubarb Stalk Fireworks with a liquid varnish (2 parts fireworks to 1 part varnish).


Step 7

With a paint brush, add puddles of the Fireworks/varnish mixture to the top of the corrugated heart. Add/spray water onto the puddles of Fireworks mixture. Allow the mixture to run and drip down the heart.  Blot with a paper towel to stop run. Add more Fireworks mixture and repeat, as needed. Allow to dry in between layers.


Step 8

Repeat inking with Desert Sand Fireworks. Once the Fireworks mixture is completely dry, seal with a coat of liquid varnish. Stamp a script stamp randomly across the corrugated heart with Jet Black StazOn ink.


Step 9

Add splatters to the heart with some watered down black acrylic paint.


Step 10

Spray a few resin roses with Rhubarb Stalk Fireworks and heat set. Repeat, a needed. Fireworks can also be applied with a paint brush, if preferred.


Step 11

Once the Fireworks ink (on the resin roses) is completely dry, edge the roses with Jet Black StazOn inkpad and a dauber.


Step 12

Edge the circumference of the corrugated heart with StazOn and a dauber as well. Deconstruct twine into individual threads and shred the fibers to create a “bed” for the resin hearts to sit on. Adhere the shreds of twine down into the upper left corner of the heart (be sure not to cover the punched hole). Then adhere the roses over the shredded twine.


Step 13

Stamp a title word onto the upper center portion of the heart with Jet Black StazOn ink. Trace the heart shape onto lined paper and cut out. To keep the paper from moving, staple about 4 to 5 sheets together prior to cutting. Repeat for more sheets, as needed (keep in mind the size of book binder ring that you are using). Line up the 3 booklet elements (front = corrugated heart piece, center = lined paper, back = cardstock heart) and attach a book binder ring. Finished!

Create A Snowflake Theme Card To Say Thank You

Create a beautifully layered snowflake element for a “So Grateful” greeting card using a variety of Tsukineko products that compliment each other in the Frosted Blue color scheme. This card theme makes a perfect thank you card to send to friends and family for Christmas gift-giving.

Directions

Stamp a background image onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair in Paradise
Step 1

Stamp a background image onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair in Paradise. Sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat set until fully melted and shiny.

Add a few drops of StazOn Studio Glaze Cloudy Sky onto the embossed background
Step 2

Add a few drops of StazOn Studio Glaze Cloudy Sky onto the embossed background and smooth it out using your finger. The glaze just makes the white not as white and adds a nice finishing touch to it.

Ink the edges of the embossed disk using VersaMagic Night Sky
Step 3

Ink the edges of the embossed disk using VersaMagic Night Sky. Use a finger dauber to blend the edges should you have to. I used the ink pad directly.

Use a small paintbrush and All-Purpose Ink in Sky Mist
Step 4

Adhere the embossed disk onto a folded card. Use a small paintbrush and All-Purpose Ink in Sky Mist to add some splatters to the background.


Step 5

Stamp a large snowflake image onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair in Twilight. Cut out the snowflake and add a diamanté to the center.


Step 6

Adhere the snowflake to the circle, add stamped sentiment in VersaFine Clair along the outside edge of the circle. Finish off your card with diamanté.

How To Create A Dewlet Shape Flower Centerpiece In A Scrap Layout

With the new Dewlet die-cut making cute little elements using your Dew Drop ink pads have just become so much easier. I have always loved cutting them out to make flower petals, but now the job is so much easier thanks to this little cutie. There is a world of possibility with this clever die-cut just imagine all the effects you can create.

Skill: Advanced
Time: 1 hour

Directions


Step 1

Use your VersaMagic Dew Drop in Night Sky and stamp directly onto a smooth piece of white cardstock. Leave to dry or heat set using a heat gun.


Step 2

Use Brilliance Dew Drop in Starlight Silver and stamp directly over the first VersaMagic Dew Drop stamped shape.


Step 3

While the Brilliance ink is still wet sprinkle with Embossing Powder in Clear. Shake off the excess and return to the container. Heat set using a heat gun until fully melted.


Step 4

Use your Dewlet die cut shape and cut out the embossed shapes on your die-cutting machine.


Step 5

I used my Dewlet shapes on my layout to create a beautiful flower element rising out from above the photo matt. These Dewlet shapes are perfect as flower petals but can be used for so much more.


Step 6

Use Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in Summer Sky to adds light blue splats to the background as well as Walnut Ink Crystals.
