Create a Beautiful Wedding Dress Card with Heat Embossing on Rinea Foil

Hey there, crafty friends! Today, I have an exciting wedding card project to share with you. I’m a big fan of stretching my craft supplies and finding new, creative ways to use them. In today’s video, I’m teaching how you can combine dry and wet embossing on Rinea Foil Paper to create a new technique! It’s simple, but there are no limits to what you can create because you can choose from a wide array of embossing folders and embossing powders. I hope you feel inspired to give this technique a try. See How to Heat Emboss on Rinea Foil Paper

Hi there, Martha Lucia here! Today I am featuring one of my favorite techniques, heat embossing over Foiled Paper. During this month the teams of Imagine and Rinea are working together to promote the combination of these brands. The base of my card is Sahara sand card stock and the second layer is Mocha/Gold Glossy Rinea Foil Paper. Let me share with you the entire process.

Time: 30 minutes

Directions


Step 1

Cut the base of your card. Mine is 4-1/4″x11″ with the score in 5-1/2″. Cut a second layer using your favorite color of Rinea Foiled Paper. Mine is Mocha/Gold Glossy. Select the embossing folder that you want to use. Mine is Tile Patterned from Darice. Ink a brayer with VersaMagic Cloud White or any pigment ink. The brayer will make the color uniform.


Step 2

Ink the de-bossing side of the folder with VersaMagic Cloud White or any other pigment ink. Rub the Rinea foiled paper with an anti-static bag or embossing buddy.


Step 3

Put the Rinea foiled paper inside of the inked embossing folder and pass it through your die cut machine.  Remove the embossed foiled paper and cover it with white embossing powder. Melt the powder with the heat tool, taking care of not burn your foiled paper.


Step 4

If you consider necessary to make a few retouches of the embossed layer, you can use the VersaMark pen and cover the area with the same color of embossing powder. In this case, white.


Step 5

Paste the embossed layer over the card base and finalize the decoration of your card. I decided to add a thick word die cut and for that, I cut several layers of the die-cut in card stock and one on Marigold Starstruck Rinea Foiled paper.  I am using the With Love Word Die from Lil’Inker Designs.


Step 6

Paste and stock all the word die cuts using On Point Glue.


Step 7

Paste the decorated word over your decorated card with glue dots.

Repurpose Old Tea Bags into a Beautiful Garden Theme Card

Got tea? I do and I like to make and create with them in new ways such as these collaged garden-themed cards. I find teabags versatile, translucent and luminous. When colored with All-Purpose Inks, the color on the tea bags are intense, yet they maintain their delicate vintage look. I enjoyed making this crafting project—not only are you making cool cards, but you are upcycling your teabags too!

Time: 45 minutes

Directions


Step 1

Begin by cleaning out your teabags. Take them apart by removing the tiny staple or string. Rip open the seams. Take out the dried leaves by sloughing it off. Brush on watered-down All-Purpose inks. Allow the bag to dry naturally or use a heat tool to dry.


Step 2

Continue to paint more teabags using the various colors of All-Purpose Ink. Allow the bags to dry naturally or use a heat tool.


Step 3

Now that all the teabags are dry, make your collage pieces onto the main card.


Step 4

Tear pieces of the bags; ensuring to fit the card. Brush on Creative Medium on the backside


Step 5

Adhere teabag pieces onto to the main card continuing to paste with Creative Medium on the top. Use various colors to vary the look. In the above example, I used Rose Gold and Thyme (green).


Step 6

Stamp on the images using the Piano Black StazOn Pigment Ink. StazOn will stamp on top of the dried Creative Medium. Other water-based inks might take a long time to dry and would not stamp well on the Creative Medium (non-porous).


Step 7

Draw in the border with a pencil. Get creative with the border; add asemic writing, squiggly line, circles, or other doodles.

Quick & Easy: Stamp & Drawing Technique

Sometimes when you’re just starting out stamping you don’t want to have to purchase a bunch of supplies when you’re not sure if you’ll like it or not. Well today I have a really fun and easy technique that will add some spice to your cards and all you need besides stamps, ink, and paper is a pen and a ruler and you don’t even really need a ruler – it can be any straight edge.

What are we going to be doing with the pen…making doodles! It’s really easy and I’ll bet you’ve been practicing this for years without even realizing it. Let’s go!

Directions

Place the “orange blossum” stamp onto an acrylic block (you can skip this if you have wood mounted stamp). Pounce VersaFine Clair in Nocturne over the stamp. Press the inked stamp onto the paper.

Now for the doodles…we’re going to start out with a really basic line doodle frame. First determine where you want your border. I went with ¼” for this example. So line up your ruler (I find that clear rulers are easier to work with) and make a dot at the ¼” mark in all 4 corners with a pencil.

Now you’re going to take a marker, in this case, I’m using the Tuxedo Black Memento Dual Tip Marker to doodle with. It has 2 tips – a brush type marker tip and the other end is like a pen so you can write with it too.

Align the ruler with your pencil dots, using the pen tip; draw a line from dot to dot. Easy Peasy right?

You can choose to stop right there or you can go back and add a few more doodles like these zig-zag lines.

From here you can mount the card on a card base or leave it as a postcard style, color in the oranges, leaves and add a sentiment for whatever occasion fits. As you can see in the first photo — you can apply this technique to several card designs!

For today’s card, I used a few Memento Inks to stamp the different shades of foliage and the flamingos from a Hampton Art Tropical stamp set. For the sentiment “With Love, and Prayers”, I used Versafine Clair ink. I took a stamp set which had few layers and created the perfect Tropical theme using first and second generation stamping.

Learn to Weave Rinea Foil Paper to Create a Card Background

Use the shiny Rinea papers to create a weaving background that mixes bright red and chocolate brown with the white cardstock. Distress the base card with Memento Desert Sand inkpad to create a frame that comes in contrast with the white cardstock. The same Memento color is also used to color the edges of the “Espresso Yourself” stamp with Mboss embossing powder in Black that creates a high contrast on the design.

Directions


Step 1

On a 4 ½ x 6 ½ inch piece of watercolor paper, mark horizontal lines in various heights. Continue with vertical one that always comes in pairs, marking one entry and one exit point where the Rinea paper stripes will go through.


Step 2

Cut the vertical marks to make openings.


Step 3

Cut stripes of the Rinea double-sided foil paper, Ruby starstruck and Mocka glossy, and pass them through the previously made openings.


Step 4

Color the front of the base card around it with Memento Desert Sand inkpad to make a frame.


Step 5

Turn the back of the decorated with Rinea papers watercolor paper and ut stripes of the Tear It! Tape to secure both the Rinea papers and then the whole of it on the card base.


Step 6

Stamp the “Espresso Yourself” stamp or alternative coffee-theme stamp with VersaMark, cover with Mboss Embossing Powder in Black and heat set.


Step 7

Distress around the stamped image with Memento Desert Sand color and a sponge dauber. Add the ribbon, the spoon, and the coffee beans.
