New Techniques for Embossing Stunning Springtime Cards

By Neva Cole

In today’s crafting tutorial, I will show you how to use various Imagine products to create a sparkly stunning springtime birthday card, featuring both Mboss Valentine, VersaMark Ink, and Embossing Powders. The tutorial will also show you how you can use VersaMark over other inks to create a cohesive embossed look for a card, even if you do not have embossing powders in additional colors.

Skill:  Intermediate

Time:  45 minutes

Directions:

Step 1

Trim card front to 4.75” x 6.25” to fit a standard A-7 card base.  It is important to use a stamp positioner platform for this technique to ensure that the image lines up properly on the finished card front.

Step 2

Color stamen portion of Penny Black First Waltz Tulip with VersaMarker and heat emboss with Black Mboss powder.

Pro tip: Use a dry fine tip paintbrush to remove any embossing powder that ends up on the card you do not want to emboss before heating.

Step 3

Use the Versa Mark small cube which allows you more precision in where you place the VersaMark ink to ink the flower portion of the image. Cover with Mboss Valentine, and carefully remove powder from the stamen area with a dry fine tip paintbrush then heat emboss.

Step 4

Color directly on the stem portion of the image with Memento Dual Marker in Pear Tart and Bamboo leaves.  Mist stamp lightly with water before stamping as this reactivates the ink to create a crisp image.

Step 5

Clean leaf portion of the image and ink with VersaMark ink. Stamp over the previously colored and stamped image with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Iridescent embossing powder.

Step 6

Stamp the “Celebrate” sentiment in VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Mboss in Valentine.  Die-cut the sentiment, I used my Brother Scan N Cut.

Step 7

I also stamped the inside of the card, as I intend to send it to a special friend for her birthday. Stamp the sentiment in VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Mboss in Valentine.

Step 8

Lightly ink the card base and card front with the Memento Luxe Pear Tart ink pad to add just a hint of green around both layers.  I ran the ink pad around the edges of the cardstock to create the light tint.

Step 9

Apply Tear It! Tape to the back of the card front and adhere to the card base.

Step 10

Adhere the “Celebrate” sentiment to the card front using adhesive foam tape.

Learn How to Make a Hearts Canvas Tote Bag Using the Bokeh Technique

By Roni Johnson

In today’s tutorial, I show you how to make a hearts canvas tote bag using the Bokeh Technique using Memento Luxe Inks and Fabrico Markers. Today’s example is Valentine’s tote made using the Imagine Crafts Happy Valentine’s Day Free PDF Download. You can use this same basic technique for any holiday or occasion by changing the mask used.

Skill: Beginner

Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Directions:

Step 1

Iron the tote bag to remove all wrinkles.

Step 2

Insert a piece of cardboard into the tote bag to prevent ink from soaking through to the back of the bag.

Step 3

Print the desired heart from the PDF onto a piece of cardstock.

Step 4

Trim the heart mask(s) and adhere to the tote bag using repositionable adhesive.

Step 5

Gather the desired colors of Memento Luxe Inks.

Tip:

New or freshly-inked pads work best for this technique.

Step 6

Gather desired stamps and/or tools to stamp the circles.
Pencil erasers, circle stamps, and Sponge Daubers work great for this technique.

Step 7

Pounce the desired tool onto the ink pad; press and hold for 10-15 seconds to allow time for the canvas to soak up the ink.

Tip:

Concentrate the dots of ink closer in the center and further apart as you work your way towards the edges.

Step 8

Continue to add layers of dots with the desired color(s) of ink.

Tip: Highlight Wedding Dress (White) Memento Luxe ink on the canvas with Fabrico Marker (Bubble Gum).
This makes the white pop against the canvas and other colors of ink.

Step 9

Remove the masks and discard.

Step 10

Outline the hearts using Real Black Fabrico Marker. Add additional details with Fabrico Markers at this time if desired.

Step 11

Iron the canvas with the hottest setting allowable for the fabric to set the inks.

Create a Beautiful Kraft Paper Notebook with Walnut Inks

Create a Beautiful Kraft Notebook with Walnut Inks

By Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Beyond staining paper with Walnut inks, use them to stamp with foam stamps and as a drawing medium with the Fantastix brush tips for free hand designs on kraft wrapping paper. Seal the result and make the paper resistant with a layer of Creative MEDIUM.  Celebrate the new year and create some awesome goals.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 ½ hour

Directions

Step 1

Cut 4x6in pieces of the carton paper and 5x7in of the kraft paper. 4 of each to make 2 notepads.

Step 2

Pour some Walnut Ink Lilac Posies on the craft mat and press the foam leaf stamp on it and stamp in a scattered pattern on the kraft paper. Try not to over soak the foam. (If you don’t have a leaf stamp, cut a simple, almond like, leaf shape from a piece of foam).

Step 3

Continue with smaller size leaves using the Cherry Blossom and Willow Walnut inks. Make two kraft paper pieces as above.

Step 4

Dip three Fantastix brush tips in the Walnut Inks colors above and draw brunches with the Willow one.

Step 5

Add flowers (small dots can work to decorate) with the Cherry Bloom and the Lilac Posies. Make two of the kraft paper pieces as above.

Step 6

Decorate the leaves with the MEMENTO dual tips markers.

Step 7

Add the number 21 using the number stencil and the MEMENTO dual tips markers.

Step 8

Cover the kraft papers with a long palette knife and Creative MEDIUM Shimmer and let them dry.

Step 9

Place Tear It Tape on the carton pieces and set in the middle the kraft papers. (½ in should be left on every side).

Step 10

Add Tear It Tape to the edge of the ½ in kraft paper, cut the corners and fold to secure on the back of the carton paper. This step creates the book cover. Repeat process with the rest pieces.

Step 11

Cut 3 ¾ x 5 ¾ in pieces of kraft paper, place Tear It Tape and set to the back (inner) side of the book covers.

Step 12

Cut blank pages in 3 ¾ x 5 ¾ in size. Use a book binding machine or book binding tools to bind the notepads. Alternate punch holes with hole punch tool and add book binding rings to hold the pages.
