In today’s card making tutorial, I will show you how to make a Textured Metallic Wedding Card using VersaMark, Delicata, and Embossing Powder.  This is a stunning card to make for a bride and groom as they celebrate their wedding day.

Skill:  Intermediate

Time:  2 hours

Directions:

Step 1

This technique involves inking the FLAT side of an embossing folder for either 2-D or 3-D folder.  This folder is 3-D with both indentations and slight protrusions.  Ink the folder well using a brayer and VersaMark ink.  Place white cardstock in folder and pressure emboss.

Step 2

Sprinkle liberally with Black Embossing Powder and heat the card from below with a heat embossing gun.  Allow cardstock to cool.

Step 3

Lightly rub Delicata Golden Glitz over the surface of the cardstock.  The high areas will pick up the ink.  This creates a great three dimension look of black, white, and gold.  Trim the finished panel to 4” x 5 ½”.

Step 4

Stamp “Mr.” & “Mrs.” in Delicata Golden Glitz and heat emboss with Iridescent Embossing Powder.  Fussy cut the banners with scissors

Step 5

Die cut four “Congratulations” die cuts from white cardstock with Spellbinders Phrase Set One.  Use an ink dauber to color the top die cut then heat emboss with Iridescent Embossing Powder.  Use very small dots of On Point glue around the letters of the die cut to glue the layers together.

Step 6

Trim a strip of black cardstock to 7/8″ x 4″.  Stamp with a background stars stamp in Delicata Silvery Shimmer and heat emboss with Silver Embossing Powder.  Once cool add shine with Sheer Shimmer Stix in Sparkle.

Step 7

Trim cardstock to 4 1/2″ x 11″ and fold in half for a top fold card.  Using and ink dauber add Delicata Golden Glitz ink around the outer 1/4″ of the card base.

Step 8

Stamp the sentiment inside the card with Delicata Black Shimmer and heat emboss with Iridescent Embossing Powder.

Step 9

Adhere card layers together with TearIt Tape, and adhere die cut with On Point Glue.  The small little dot (tittle) of the letter “i” is replaced with a small gold adhesive rhinestone.  The original tittle was too small to layer together.

Step 1

Stamp Calla Lily image in StazOn Bordeaux.  Stamp Calla Lily Leaves image in StazOn Forest Green.  Set aside while working on the rest of the card.  The ink will take time to dry, otherwise it will smear or come off on your fingers.

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step2
Step 2

Trim a sheet of Strathmore Bristol Vellum Finish 100 lb paper to 7″ x 15″.  My pad comes in 14″ x 17″ so it will make two cards of this style from one sheet.  Score at 5″ from each end and accordion fold sheet using bone folder to crease folds.

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step3

Step 3

Place folded cardstock into Largest die from the Teardrop Lattice Gateway die by Heartfelt Creations.  Run through die cut machine.  Remove curved corners once they are cut, to allow all layers to cut through.

Step 4

Die cut decorative card front from white cardstock.  It is from the Heartfelt Creations Lattice Swirl Gateway die.  Die cut lower portion of Heartfelt Creations Lattice Flourish Gateway die (shown below).

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step11

Step 11

Die cut the third from the largest Heartfelt Creations Eyelet Frame Gateway from white cardstock.  Ink the edges and the center of the panel with VersaMagic Aqua Splash.  Die cut center panel form Heartfelt Creations Regal Lattice Gateway die from white cardstock.  Use an ink blusher to color the die cut.

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step12

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step13

Step 13

Apply Tear It tape to the back of prepared panels from Steps 9, 10, and 11.  (Notice that I decided to change color used for the sentiments  for step 12 and simply used the opposite side of the die cut.)

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step14

Step 14

Use and ink dauber to color the leaves and Calla Lily images with StazOn ink in Caribbean Green and Bordeaux.  Set aside for the ink to dry, I let mine dry over-night to keep from staining my fingers in the next step and smudging the ink.

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step15

Step 15

Die cut the Calla Lily and leaves.  Prep space to create flowers.  Heat glue, glue gun, die cuts and Heartfelt Creations Pastel Pollen Stamens.  (Note I colored the back of the die cuts as well, but turns out it is not necessary because the back of the images do not show on the finished card.)

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step16

Step 16

Holding the Cally Lily die cut with a pair of tweezers and heat the back of foam paper until it just begins to curl.  The foam paper will curve towards the heat.  While the foam paper is still warm gently add a small dab of hot glue at the very base of the Cally Lily.  Place stamen and pinch closed, hold for a moment until hot glue cools and flower will hold it’s shape.  Repeat with remaining five flowers.

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step17

Step 17

Heat the back of the leaf image until it curls.  While it is still warm pinch into shape until the foam paper has cooled and it will hold its shape.

2021-April-MothersDay-Card-step18

Using small dots of On Point glue adhere the Lattice Swirl Gateway die cut from Steps 4 and 5 to the front panel of the card.

New Techniques for Embossing Stunning Springtime Cards

By Neva Cole

In today’s crafting tutorial, I will show you how to use various Imagine products to create a sparkly stunning springtime birthday card, featuring both Mboss Valentine, VersaMark Ink, and Embossing Powders. The tutorial will also show you how you can use VersaMark over other inks to create a cohesive embossed look for a card, even if you do not have embossing powders in additional colors.

Skill:  Intermediate

Time:  45 minutes

Directions:

Step 1

Trim card front to 4.75” x 6.25” to fit a standard A-7 card base.  It is important to use a stamp positioner platform for this technique to ensure that the image lines up properly on the finished card front.

Step 2

Color stamen portion of Penny Black First Waltz Tulip with VersaMarker and heat emboss with Black Mboss powder.

Pro tip: Use a dry fine tip paintbrush to remove any embossing powder that ends up on the card you do not want to emboss before heating.

Step 3

Use the Versa Mark small cube which allows you more precision in where you place the VersaMark ink to ink the flower portion of the image. Cover with Mboss Valentine, and carefully remove powder from the stamen area with a dry fine tip paintbrush then heat emboss.

Step 4

Color directly on the stem portion of the image with Memento Dual Marker in Pear Tart and Bamboo leaves.  Mist stamp lightly with water before stamping as this reactivates the ink to create a crisp image.

Step 5

Clean leaf portion of the image and ink with VersaMark ink. Stamp over the previously colored and stamped image with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Iridescent embossing powder.

Step 6

Stamp the “Celebrate” sentiment in VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Mboss in Valentine.  Die-cut the sentiment, I used my Brother Scan N Cut.

Step 7

I also stamped the inside of the card, as I intend to send it to a special friend for her birthday. Stamp the sentiment in VersaMark Ink and heat emboss with Mboss in Valentine.

Step 8

Lightly ink the card base and card front with the Memento Luxe Pear Tart ink pad to add just a hint of green around both layers.  I ran the ink pad around the edges of the cardstock to create the light tint.

Step 9

Apply Tear It! Tape to the back of the card front and adhere to the card base.

Step 10

Adhere the “Celebrate” sentiment to the card front using adhesive foam tape.
