Using Celebration Themed stamps along with VersaMark Dazzle and Delicata Golden Glitz ink pads make a New Years Card. I will be making several of these cards to send to friends as well as co-workers to welcome in the New Year.
In today’s post, I will do a quick review of our ink brands and discuss the best inks for the thinner pages of journals and planners. One of the unique qualities of planners is the thin pages on the inside. These thin pages are designed to be flexible and lightweight so journals remain easy to use and at a low cost. If you like stamping inside your planner then getting a great inkpad is crucial. Let’s start with VersaFine Clair in Nocturne! VersaFine is a solid ink for making cards, but on thin pages, it is going to show through on the following page. StazOn Jet Black is an excellent mixed media ink and will stamp on nearly anything, yet again it shows through on thin paper. So these two inks I would save for cardmaking.
VersaMagic is a highly pigmented chalk ink. The Midnight Black stamps well and does not bleed through the paper as heavily as other black inks. I vote YES for this ink on thin pages. Memento Tuxedo Black is a water-based dye ink that is an excellent ink for cardmaking and using with other inks such as alcohol markers but has a heavy bleed through on the thin pages. In my observation, it bleeds through the most.
If you really like a certain inkpad brand and feel you still want to use it on your planner or journal pages then you can try a lighter shade. Although Memento Tuxedo Black is too heavy for thin pages an alternative is London Fog. The grey tone is light enough for the journal page. I was inspired to try VersaFine Clair in Morning Mist, but again the tone of grey is too dark and the VersaFine showed through again. It is not an issue of the ink formula but rather the color hue of this particular grey.
When looking at different inks for journal pages consider different colors within a brand or brands with unique pigment qualities. The winners of this stamping-on-thin-pages test are Memento in London Fog and VersaMagic in Midnight Black!! Thank you and Happy Planning!
Kissing Technique is an easy way to combine your stamps and create unique designs for your stamping projects. Just select one solid design and combine it with another pattern and create different layouts.

Select the stamps that you want to use and the colors of the ink. Use a light color for the solid image and dark color for the textured or detailed image. Place the stamps over different acrylic blocks and ink well with the corresponding ink. Here I selected a heart stamp and inked it with Memento in Lulu Lavender. Then I choose a stripe stamp and inked it with Memento in Grape Jelly.
Place one stamp over the other, touching the inked sides. You will notice how the stripe image is transferred into the solid heart image. When you are using a waterbased ink like Memento this transfer will happen very smoothly.
If you decide to use a dark color for the solid image, don’t apply ink to the detailed image, just kiss them and you will see how it take off the color from the solid stamp. Stamp the image over your card stock layer and finalize your card stamping a coordinating sentiment.

Spray Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Spray in Summer Sky onto card panel.
Stamp snowflakes with VersaMagic in Turquoise Gem.
Stamp a second snowflake pattern in VersaMagic in Aegean Blue.
Use a Large Dauber to sponge VersaMagic in Aegean Blue onto edge of card panel.
Stamp ice pattern onto bottom of card panel with VersaMagic – Turquoise.
Stamp Polar bear images with VersaFine Clair – Nocturne and cut out with coordinating dies.
Add color to bears with Memento Dual Markers – Summer Sky, London Fog, Gray Flannel.
Add color to scarfs with Memento Dual Makers – Rhubarb Stalk, Teal Zeal.
Spray Sheer SHIMMER Spray – Sparkle onto craft matte then use paint brush to apply to scarfs.
Stamp saying onto card panel with VersaFine Clair – Nocturne.
Adhere card panel to card base.
Adhere die cut Polar Bears to card front.
Sometimes you just need a quick card or even set of cards to give as a gift. This background is the perfect way to create those at this time of year! And all you need is cardstock, painter’s tape, and an ink pad!

Adorn your Christmas packages with lovely home-made tags. They are a breeze to create with VersaColor ink and few other products from Imagine.
Spray 3 White Tags with Fireworks Spray – Rich Cocoa & Rhubarb Stock
Sponge brick stencil pattern onto tags with VersaColor Brown and then repeat with Turquoise.
Stamp snowflake image onto tag with VersaColor Charcoal, then stamp a dot pattern with Turquoise.
Stamp reindeer with VersaColor Turquoise and emboss with Clear MBoss embossing powder.
Use coordinating die to cut out reindeer images.
Stamp saying in VersaColor Black.
Adhere reindeer image onto tag and then spray with irRESISTible Spray – Wedding Dress.
Attach ribbons to tag.
