Create an Easy Mixed Media Inspired Wedding Card

‘Tis the season to send that special couple an elegant handmade card wishing them a Happily Ever After.  This quick and easy card was made with Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink, a stencil and some pretty trimmings.  It came together quickly but should leave a lasting impression on the pair of lovebirds!

Skill: Beginner/Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes

Directions


Step 1

On a panel of cardstock, apply Delicata Silvery Shimmer ink over a stencil with a sponge dauber.


Step 2

Spray panel with Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray in Sparkle.


Step 3

Stamp a script stamp (partial impressions) in Koala Gray StazOn Pigment ink.


Step 4

Water down Versa Magic in Aegean Blue on mat and apply ink splatters to panel with a fan brush.


Step 5

Print saying and trim to size.


Step 6

Apply double-sided foam mounting tape to back of saying.


Step 7

Embellish with lace, trim and mounted saying.


Step 8

Adhere panel to card base with Tear It Tape.

Create a Quick, Easy and Elegant Wedding Invitation

Did you know that, according to Wikipedia, there are 2.5 million weddings in the United States each year? Wow, who knew?! That means that there are a lot of individuals out there planning for their big day! It’s a good thing that this project is designed to inspire those planning for their special day to create quick, simple and elegant handmade wedding invitations.

Time: 30 minute
Skill: Beginner/Intermediate

Directions


Step 1

Cut a piece of decorative cardstock to size, 5 ¼” x 10”.  Fold up at 3” from the bottom.


Step 2

Tie sheer ribbon around the bottom portion of the folder.


Step 3

Print wedding announcement on a 5”x 7” piece of cardstock.


Step 4

Stamp floral image with Memento London Fog at top right and bottom left of invitation.


Step 5

Create a template to cover printed words and spray with Sheer Shimmer Craft Spray.


Step 6

Cut tissue paper to cover invitation.


Step 7

Slide invitation, with tissue cover, into the previously made folder.


Step 8

Stamp floral design on cardstock with StazOn Pigment ink in Piano Black.


Step 9

Using watercolor pen and VersaMagic ink, water-color floral image.


Step 10

With matching die, cut out floral image.


Step 11

Adhere to the bottom portion of folder front, see the example for placement. Try the same design in different color schemes.

Learn how to use StāzOn Pigment Ink with different substrates and mediums

Hello all, I am sharing with you some of the great benefits of using the new StāzOn Pigment ink. I really love this ink and love how it works with different surfaces. Before I get into demonstrating several options available, let me cover the basic information that Imagine has provided about this new product.

StāzOn Pigment:

  • Dries quickly on most surfaces
  • Works on all surfaces that original StāzOn does: paper, acetate, metal, glass and more
  • New felt pad produces crisp stamped images
  • Vibrant and opaque inks – these colors really pop!
  • Ergonomic, easy-to-open, air-tight case

StāzOn Pigment ink is available in 12 colors

With the basics out of the way, let’s move on to see how well StāzOn Pigment ink works with other Imagine products as well as with different substrates and mediums. To best explore the crafty possibilities of this ink, let’s embark on a variety of explorations using StāzOn Pigment ink with different substrates and mediums. The 6 explorations below outline the manner in which StāzOn Pigment was applied, the different substrate(s) and medium(s) used, as well as provide a photo capturing the result.

Exploration 1 – Paper

StāzOn Pigment: Stamped flower with Piano Black and saying stamped with Peacock Feathers.
Substrate: Strathmore Mixed Media Paper, vellum surface, 185 lb.
Medium(s): Watercolor with Memento Dual Tip Markers.
Additional Medium added, Sheer SHIMMER Craft Spray – Sparkle

Artist Observations: The StāzOn Pigment ink did not smear with the application of the wet watercolors, nice! Plus, the crisp stamped image really helped the image stand out.

Exploration 2 – Canvas

StāzOn Pigment: Stamped flower image with Piano Black.
Substrate: Flat panel canvas, pre-treated with gesso
Medium(s): DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics

Artist Observations: The StāzOn Pigment ink produced a vibrant stamped image that held up well against the acrylic paint. With the rough surface of the canvas, I found that a well-inked stamp and a little extra pressure was required to get a clean stamped image.

Exploration 3 – Wood

StāzOn Pigment: Stamped flower image with Piano Black.
Substrate: Untreated wood plaque
Medium(s): Fabrico Dual Makers with a DecoArt DuraClear Matte Varnish finish

Artist Observations: The StāzOn Pigment worked great on wood and didn’t smear with the application of the Fabrico markers.

Exploration 4 – Glass

StāzOn Pigment: Stamped flower image with Piano Black. Floral image colored with Snowflake, Chocolate Brown, Lemon Drop & Shamrock Green using Doodlestix Mixed Media Tools.
Substrate: Glass
Medium(s): irRESISTible Pico Embellisher

Artist Observations: I love the permanency of StāzOn Pigment on the glass and the application of the ink with a DoodleStix Mixed Media Tool was super easy and effective. The challenge came with working on a slick surface; I had to keep a steady hand when stamping to obtain a clean image.

Exploration 5 – Tumble Stone Tile

StāzOn Pigment: Stamped flower image with Piano Black.
Substrate: Tumble Stone Tile
Medium(s): Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pens w/DecoArt DuraClear Matte Varnish finish

Artist Observations: The StāzOn Pigment ink worked beautifully on the tumble stone tile. There was no smearing with the application of color with the Artist PITT pens or with the use of the varnish sealer.

Exploration 6 – Metal & Glass

StāzOn Pigment: Stamped images with Piano Black. Peacock Feathers, Shamrock Green & Snowflake ink sponged onto surfaces with InkBlushers.

Substrate: Metal & Glass

Artist Observations:  Sponging and stamping onto Metal with StāzOn Pigment ink worked like a dream. Vibrant color and crisp images resulted in a beautiful project!

As these explorations demonstrate, StāzOn Pigment ink works very well on a variety of substrates resulting in crisp stamped images that dry quickly. It also holds up to different mediums without running or smearing. Not only can it be used as a staple ink to stamp images on a variety of surfaces (to be treated with different mediums), it works well as a strong stand-alone ink that you can use to create entire projects with (see Exploration 6 – Metal & Glass).

Learn How To Upcycle Old Computer Parts Into A Beautiful Collage

StazOn ink has always been one of my favorite for mixed media projects, but the addition of StazOn Pigment has been a true game changer. I used the ink on several surfaces for this Teal and Magenta upcycled project, and I simply love the outcome of the StazOn Pigment ink on these surfaces.

Skill: Intermediate/Advanced
Time: 30 minutes

Directions


Step 1

Ink the resin wings using a sponge dauber with StazOn Pigment Peacock Feathers.


Step 2

Ink a metal disk by lightly tapping the ink pad onto the metal repeatedly. I did not cover the entire surface but left some open spaces.


Step 3

Once the ink on the disk is dry, stamp flower images onto the disk using Snowflake StazOn Pigment ink. Note: The ink pulled some of the pink ink off the metal leaving a silver flower impression which looked quite amazing.


Step 4

Die-cut white cardstock leaves and color them using your ink pads with the direct to paper method.


Step 5

Color flowers using All-Purpose inks on choice.


Step 6

Adhere the die-cut leaves, wings, and flowers to your metal disk using gel medium. Add thread, gold glitter, and other elements to finish off your project.

Create a Stamped Collage Using StazOn Pigment Inkpad

I love the new StazOn Pigment ink about as much as I love stamping!  Finding ways to maximize the use of this mixed media ink would be a big win in my book! How to go about achieving this goal? A stamped collage, of course!  Multiple stamps + multiple StazOn Pigment inks = Happy Stamper!

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 hour

Directions


Step 1

Use stamps and a selection of StazOn Pigment ink to stamp a collage style background on a 6” x 4 ¼” panel of cardstock.  Remember to overlap and group images for the best effect.


Step 2

Apply Memento ink (Cottage Ivy & Teal Zeal) directly to craft matte, add water and then use fan brush to apply ink splatters to panel.


Step 3

With Piano Black StazOn Pigment ink, stamp the small image of lightbulb onto white cardstock.


Step 4

Using watercolor method (wet ink on matte), use Memento ink to lightly color lightbulb. Fussy cut image out.


Step 5

Stamp large lightbulb image onto white cardstock (with Piano Black, StazOn Pigment Ink) and then fussy cut the image out.


Step 6

Apply StazOn Peacock Feathers ink directly from ink pad to large lightbulb image. Cut image in half, lengthwise.


Step 7

Stamp the “Shine Bright” sentiment with Piano Black StazOn Pigment Ink.


Step 8

Make a close trim around the saying (rectangle in shape). Color lightly with Memento (watercolor method).


Step 9

Apply washi tape to lower portion of the card.


Step 10

Prep small lightbulb and saying with 3M double sided dimensional tape.


Step 11

Adhere left half of the large lightbulb image to the top portion of the card, slightly off center. Mount small lightbulb over this image (see card for placement).  Adhere saying over the washi tape.


Step 12

Mount panel to A6 sized card base of white cardstock. Apply black dots to the background with the Tuxedo Black irresistible Pico Embellisher.

Make a Peacock Feather Design with All-Purpose Inks

The month of March celebrates the beautiful color in Peacock Feathers and with so many ink choices in just the perfect colors, it was hard to choose what to create. But in the end, my love for watercolors and the stunning effects won and I created this art journal page using All-Purpose Inks.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes

Directions


Step 1

Color a sheet of watercolor paper. Paint a layer of water on top and then drop All-Purpose Ink onto the paper to let it mix and flow. Mist with more water to activate and promote flow. Leave to dry.


Step 2

Die-cut a peacock feather using a Silhouette machine. Paint with a layer of gesso and then add color using peacock color shades of All-Purpose Inks and a paint brush.


Step 3

Once the feather is dry, use On Point Glue to adhere the feather to the watercolor paper piece.


Step 4

To add shading and interest, add some grey and brown ink to your craft mat and mist with water, then paint in shadows. Use a graphite pencil for shading even more and adding details.


Step 5

Add some additional stamping and a quote as desired. Then adhere the page into your art journal or frame it as a home decor piece.
