Create Beautiful Florals with Memento Markers

Hello! Today I’m going to show you how you can use Memento Markers to create beautiful florals. They look like they’ve been watercolored but you really just have used silhouette stamps.

 

Skill Level: Basic to Intermediate

Time: 30-45 Minutes

 

Directions:

Step 1

Apply your first silhouette stamp to an acrylic block or stamping tool. For all of these images, I thought using a block was easier.

 

Step 2

Color in the silhouette stamp using Memento Markers. I went with 2 shades of green for the foliage, and two colors on each flower. I recommend applying the lighter color first, and then the darker one. Be sure to overlap the colors to blend them together.

 

Step 3

Stamp the colored image onto white cardstock. If you take a while coloring in your image, you may want to “huff” or breathe on to the stamp before applying it. This helps to remoisten the inks.

 

Step 4

Try to change up the strokes you use when coloring the images, especially if you have florals with different textures like I do. Some I kept super streaky to resemble petals, some have a much smoother blend. Don’t be afraid to add extra detail with the Memento Markers after you’ve stamped the images. I did this, for example, on the mason jar.

 

Step 5

Stamp all of your images out, keeping them spaced apart a bit for die-cutting.

 

Step 6

Die-cut all of your elements. I adhered multiple images to my cutting plate at once to save time. I taped them down with a low-tack tape to make sure they wouldn’t move.

 

Step 7

When all of your images are cut out, arrange them in different ways until you like how they look. Snap a photo of the arrangement so that when you go to glue them, you can put them back where you like them. If you have Press ‘N Seal, you can apply that to the top of the images to temporarily hold them in place while you apply On Point Glue to the parts that are “in” the mason jar.

 

Step 8

Take a piece of 4″ x 5 1/4″ white cardstock and run it through your die-cut machine with an embossing folder.

 

Step 9

Lightly apply Pixie Dust VersaMagic to the raised design of the cardstock.

 

Step 10

Adhere foam dots or foam tape to the back of the mason jar and flowers.

 

Step 11

Stamp the sentiment near the mason jar.

 

Step 12

Adhere the panel to a white card base.

 

I love the completed card. Using Memento Markers directly on stamps gives a very different look than when using ink pads. What kind of silhouette stamps do you have in your stash? Flowers like these? Learn How to Make a Multi-Colored Easter Card

In today’s crafting tutorial, I will show you how to use a single stamp image and stamp each line with a different ink color. I will also share how to blend VersaMagic inks for a background and take it up a notch by dry embossing.  

 

Skill: Intermediate

Time: 1 hour

 

Directions:

Step 1

Place image on stamp positioner and use a post-it to cover the bottom three lines of the image.  I used a sentiment stamp from Unity Stamp Co. titled “Everything Easter” with four lines of text.  Use a paper piercer to tuck the post-it securely in place. Ink the top line with VersaMagic in Aloe Vera.  Remove post-it and stamp image on cardstock. Clean ink off of the post-it so you can use it for subsequent steps.  Clean image after stamping and moving to Step 2. Repeat this after each step through Step 4.

 

Step 2

Use two post-its to cover lines 1,3 and 4 and ink image with VersaMagic in Spring Pansy. 

 

Step 3

Use two post-its to cover lines 1,2, and 4 and ink image in VersaMagic Sea Breeze.

 

Step 4

Use a post-it to cover lines 1,2, and 3 and ink image in VersaMagic in Spring Pansy.

 

Step 5

Clean the entire image and ink in VersaMark and stamp image over the colored lines.  Heat emboss with Iridescent Embossing Powder.

 

Step 6

Using ink blushers ink a section of 4″ x 5.25″ cardstock in VersaMagic Aloe Vera, Spring Pansy, and Sea Breeze and blend into each color.  Use an ink blusher to ink over the heat embossed sentiment image with VersaMagic Pixie Dust.

 

Step 7

Pressure emboss 4″ x 5.25″ blended color cardstock with Lifestyle Crafts Tide embossing folder.

 

Step 8

Use a sanding block or sandpaper to gently remove the color from the raised areas of the embossed cardstock.  The white color of the cardstock will show through.

 

Step 9

Die-cut sentiment image and use and ink blusher to in the edges in VersaMagic Spring Pansy.

 

Step 10 

Ink the edges of an A-2 (4.25″ x 5.5″) card base in VersaMagic Spring Pansy.

 

Step 11

Adhere layers together with foam adhesive.  Adhere pearl embellishments in curly- ques of the embossed background.  Adhere pearl embellishments to the center of small flower sequins and adhere with On Point Glue.  Tie a triple looped bow from sheer ribbon and adhere with On Point Glue.

How to Make Clay Easter Egg-Shaped Ornaments

Stamp Easter egg designs on clay and color them with StazOn inks and Memento Dual Tip Markers to make Easter ornaments. Decorate tree branches in a vase for a Spring and Easter theme or add them to gift packages and bags.

Skill: Beginner

Time: 30 min + drying time

Directions:

Step 1

On a flat piece of clay, press the egg design stamp.

 

Step 2

Remove the stamp and cut around the design with a pointed tool (a pallet knife, a piercing tool, etc). Don’t forget to open a hole on the top of the shape. Let the clay cure.

 

Step 3

When the clay shapes are ready use a filling tool or some sanding paper to smooth the edge of the clay eggs.

 

Step 4

Use a Sponge Dauber and the StazOn Eden Green to color the embossed designs. You can press the ink pad directly on the clay egg to add more color strength to the embossed design.

 

Step 5

Color parts of the stamped design with the MEMENTO Dual Tip Markers in greenish shades.

 

Step 6

For the next design use the StazOn Black Cherry and the MEMENTO Dual Tip Marker Tuxedo black, Angel Pink and Lady Bug to color it following the same procedure as above.

 

Step 7

Finally, use StazOn Fuschia Pink and MEMENTO Dual Tip Markers Pear Tart, Rose Bud and Bamboo Leaves to color the clay egg.
You can color around the edges of the clay eggs with the All-Purpose Ink Vegas Gold and add ribbons.

Learn How to Make a Faux Blue Delft Bunny Rabbit

Welcome in Spring with this lovely Faux Blue Delft Bunny Rabbit to brighten up your home. Originating in the city of Delft in the Netherlands in the 1600s, this pottery which consists of blue decoration over a white background is a breath of fresh air and the perfect start of this season of renewal. This technique looks daunting but once you break it down into easy-to-follow steps it’s fun and rewarding. The finished project looks stunning and will delight everyone who comes in contact with it.

This technique combines wide-open geometric stamped patterns with areas of saturation to give the piece defined areas to enhance and highlight certain areas of the animal. For this example, I used the more concentrated stamping on the face, ears and a medallion of sorts on its back. You will come to see how this turns a plain paper mache rabbit into a beautiful Blue Delft Bunny sure to please.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 2 hours + dry time

 

Directions:

Step 1

Gather up your supplies, you will need a paper mache animal – I choose a rabbit for Spring, tissue paper, Medieval Blue VersaFine Clair ink and Creative Medium (Clear or Shimmer).

 

Step 2

You will also need to gather a few small stamps. For this project I am using roses, leaves and vine peg stamps from Rubber Stamp Tapestry.

 

Step 3

Prepare the paper mache animal by painting it with white acrylic paint. Set it aside to dry.

 

Step 4

To create the concentrated stamped sections place a sheet of tissue paper over the desired area, in this case the back and trace the shape you wish to create. For this example I wanted a nice sized oval medallion over the back. You can see the faint pencil marking on the tissue paper in the photo.

 

Step 5

Create the medallion by stamping the border along the pencil line from the previous step.

 

Step 6 – Stamp additional images to fill in the medallion.

 

Step 7 – Once the medallion has been completed let the ink dry completely.

 

Step 8 – Use a ruler to stamp a small rose at 1” intervals in a diagonal line.

 

Step 9 – Continue stamping at 1” intervals until the entire piece of tissue paper has been covered.

 

Step 10 – Repeat steps 4-9 for any additional areas you wish to cover with a concentrated stamping. For this example I made pieces for the back sides of the rabbit ears and one for the top of the nose and forehead.

 

Step 11 – Stamp extra pieces of tissue paper with the diagonal 1” pattern to cover any areas which are not going to be covered with the concentrated pieces.

 

Step 12 – Stamp more tissue paper than you think you’ll need just in case. You don’t want to run out in the middle of covering the project and have to stop gluing to stamp more.

 

Step 13 – Apply a layer of Creative Medium over the section of the paper mache you want to begin with and carefully place the piece of tissue paper over the glue.

 

Step 14 – Pick up more Creative Medium on the paintbrush and gently dab the tissue paper and press it onto the paper mache form. Once in place cover the entire piece of tissue paper with a generous layer of Creative Medium.

 

Step 15 – Continue covering the areas where you want the concentrated stamping, next the ears, one at a time.

 

Step 16 – Again gently layer the tissue paper over the Creative Medium base coat then cover with a top coat of Creative Medium. Gently pull away the excess tissue paper and smooth the edges with the paintbrush. Let these areas dry before continuing.

 

Step 17 – Once all of the concentrated areas have been applied (back medallion, ears, and forehead), use the diagonal stamped tissue paper to fill in any additional areas that need covering in the same fashion. Apply a foundation layer of Creative Medium; add the diagonal tissue paper and gently press into the glue then apply a top coat of Creative Medium.

 

Step 18 – Let the Creative Medium dry completely, I left this example dry overnight.

 

Step 19 – Use a sponge dauber to apply a bit of color around the edge and inside of the ear.

 

Step 20 – (Optional) – Glue a bit of marabou feather boa to the tail area.

 

Step 21 – Dye rayon seam binding with Fireworks! Spray ink to create a bow around the bunny’s neck.

Make a Happy Easter Card with an Egg Shell Inspired Background

Simple and easy to make Easter greetings card with an egg shell-like background made by sprinkling Fireworks! paint on a blank white card and lightly distress with MEMENTO Desert sand ink pad. Stamp on a piece of cotton ribbon with VersaFine CLAIR Tulip red to use as an embellishment to decorate the card.

 

Skill: Beginner

Time: 45 min

 

Directions

 

Step 1

Sprinkle Fireworks! Desert Sand on a piece of 4×6 in white card stock. Cover half of it and sprinkle with Fireworks! Rhubarb Stalked color.

 

Step 2

Use a Sponge Dauber to lightly distress around the white card stock piece with the MEMENTO Desert Sand ink pad.

 

Step 3

Stamp the abstract stamp with VersaFine CLAIR Tulip Red on a piece of cotton ribbon.

 

Step 4

Color a wooden Happy Easter shape with VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne ink pad.

 

Step 5

Use the same ink pad to stamp an egg design on the natural card stock and cut around it.

 

Step 6

Place Tear It! Tape to the back of the cotton and gingham ribbons. Glue the white card stock piece on the card base.

 

Step 7

Attach the cotton ribbon first, then half-covering with the gingham ribbon. Add loops of jute cord with hot glue. Finally, place the egg with some foam tape and the Happy Easter shape.

Learn How to Make a Butterflies of Spring Card with Ink Blending

Skill: Intermediate

Time: 1 hour

Blend inks to create backgrounds for a spring-themed card and roll the paper with the help of Ink Potion No9 and secure it with some Tear It! Tape. Stamp with VersaFine CLAIR Nocturne and add color with MEMENTO markers.

Directions:

 

Step 1:

Cut a 4×6 in piece of card. Color about half part of the card stock piece with MEMENTO LUXE Pistachio and Pear Tart inks using Sponge Daubers.

 

Step 2:

Stamp the colored part with the MEMENTO Bamboo Leaves and the crackle stamp.

 

Step 3:

Spray it with the Ink Potion No9, cut some part of the blank part of the card stock, and roll it. Use a heat tool to speed up the drying process and secure it with Tear It! Tape.

 

Step 4:

Use a Sponge Dauber to color with the MEMENTO Bamboo Leaves on the white rolled side.

 

Step 5:

Spray Ink Potion No 9 and then Fireworks! Summer Sky on another 5×4 in a piece of the card stock. Let it dry. Use a sponge dauber to lightly distress it with MEMENTO Bahama Blue.

 

Step 6:

Place Tear It! Tape on both pieces of the card stock and set first the blue one and then the green one.

 

Step 7:

Stamp with the VersaFine CLAIR – Nocturne and cut around the butterflies. Color with the MEMENTO markers.

 

Step 8:

Glue flower stamens folded in half on the top side of the rolled part.

 

Step 9:

Bend the wings of the butterflies and them. Add the sticker words.
