DIY Stenciled Marker Bag

By Helen Gullett

Hello crafty friends! This time, I want to share an idea on how you can personalize your own marker bag simply using Fabrico Markers and stencil. It is a fun project. You can do it in your free time and it is quick because the markers do not require a long time to dry. For my project today, I got the fabric bag from a craft store and I picked just one color to use but you can pick any color you want to use depending on the stencil design you use.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 30 minutes

Direction:

Step 1
Pick a plain fabric bag that is made to be personalized. You can iron it if there are wrinkles on the bag surface, but it is an option.
Cut a piece of cardboard to put inside the bag to prevent ink bleeding through the fabric.
Pick a stencil design that you want to use.
Secure the stencil on the bag surface with temporary tape, or washi tape. Make sure the stencil won’t move around when you start the next step.

Step 2
Trace the design with the Fabrico marker. Fabrico markers are dual tip markers. Pick the tip that will fit to be used for your stencil. On my project, I used the bullet tip to trace the image and words.
After trace one design, remove the stencil to the other side to trace another design if needed.

Step 3
After tracing all the design on the fabric bag, remove the stencil.
You can retrace the design without the stencil if needed.
Fill in the design with more colors using the marker using either bullet or brush tip.

Isn’t that quick and easy to personalize your own fabric bag for markers? I hope you will give it a try.

Make a Happy Spring Card

By Ceil Pritchett

Hello crafty friends, today I am sharing a spring card using a couple of blending techniques, one with Fabrico markers and one with the VersaMagic Dew Drops.
I was so happy for spring to finally arrive. I live in the mountains and even though it is officially spring, sometimes we still get snow in April.

Skill: Intermediate to Advanced
Time: 45 minutes to an hour

Directions:

Step 1
Place a piece of white cardstock in the corner of a stamping platform and use Nocturne VersaFine Clair to add ink to the stamp.

Step 2
Stamp the image on a post-it note or masking paper using Nocturne VersaFine Claire ink, then fussy cut out the image.

Step 3
Color the image using Fabrico markers. You can blend the colors using a piece of acetate as shown in the picture. The green marker I used is Emerald. I created a lighter green by scribbling some green on the piece of acetate and then picked it up with the yellow marker, creating a yellow green color. I also created a lighter orange by scribbling orange on the piece of acetate and then picking it up with the yellow marker. This doesn’t in any way contaminate your markers, all you do after you finish blending is scribble on a regular piece of paper until you get the true color back.

Step 4
Using the mask you created earlier, cover the daffodil image that you colored and then add the stencil over it. You will also need to mask off the top portion of your panel as well to keep it clean while you ink blend over the stencil.  I used three different colors of VersaMagic Dew drops to give the bricks a more realistic look. They are listed below. I love how well the VersaMagic chalk inks blend together.

Step 5
Remove the stencil and mask from the panel and cut it down to 3.78 xX 4.78

Step 6
Insert a piece of black cardstock into the corner of a stamping platform and use an anti-static tool to prep surface. Stamp the sentiment using VersaMark ink and heat emboss it with MBoss White Embossing Powder, then cut it out with the coordinating die.

Stamp the sentiment “happy” directly on the card front and add the embossed sentiment below it.

Step 7
Assemble your card by adhering the front panel to a black panel cut to 3.75 X 5 using On Point Glue and then adhering it to a card base cut to 4.25 X 11, scored at 5.5

I hop you will give these techniques a try. Thank you for stopping by our blog today. Until the next time, stay crafty!

Learn How to Emboss Drawings with All-Purpose Ink

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Learn How to Emboss Drawings with All-Purpose Ink

We were challenged with the color Fern Green this month so I decided to create a mixed media canvas with a green eye focal point. Using Memento Luxe ink pads, All-Purpose Ink and Fabrico markers, I added color to a canvas. To practice a new technique, I covered my wet All-Purpose Ink with Mboss Embossing Powder to enhance parts of the drawing. I also used Creative Medium to add texture to the canvas. Using Fabrico markers can help achieve details on your drawings easily and more accurate than a brush.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 2 hours

Step 1

Draw an eye on the canvas with the All-Purpose Ink in Real Black color.

Step 2

Cover with Mboss Clear embossing powder and heat set. All-Purpose Ink is a dense ink that will stay tacky enough on a canvas for embossing, which is a great alternative to get the awesome shine and texture from embossing powder with the densely pigmented ink and no stamping.

Step 3

Use the flower stencil and sponge daubers with the VersaColor Orchid and Memento Angel Pink ink pads to decorate under and top of the eye on the canvas.

Step 4

Blend Memento Luxe Pistachio and Pear Tart inks with a Brushstix to color the iris and VersaColor Cement ink pad to color around the iris.

Step 5

Add details to the iris using Memento London Fog and Fabrico Pine markers.

Step 6

Cover the iris with the VersaMarker pen and the with the Mboss Clear embossing powder and heat set. This will give the eye a glossy look.

Step 7

Use a palette knife to spread Creative Medium, paste over the tropical leaf stencil at the bottom of the canvas.

Step 8

With the help of a Sponge dauber cover parts and among previously stenciled designs with the Memento Luxe – Pistachio ink. Stencil more leaves with VersaColor Turquoise ink.

Step 9

Enhance the leaves and add detail with markers.

Step 10

Cut a piece of paper at the shape of eye, place it on top and sprinkle or flick All-Purpose Ink Real black on the canvas.

How to Make a Realistic Snowy Background on a Holiday Card

Doodlestix, embossing powder, and Fireworks spray team up to make the most wonderful wintery background for the cute snowman!  I really love making impressions with stamps in embossing powder. You can get some very exciting and sometimes unexpected results.  The Doodlestix worked perfectly to help create a swirling winter snow scene for this mixed media card.

Create and Color a Beautiful Trumpet Flower Card

by Jennifer Vanderbeek

Create and Color a Beautiful Trumpet Flower Card

After spending several hours carving the stamp for this card (because I had an idea but not the right stamp available—DIY to the rescue), I wanted to make sure that the flower and banner image got the best possible color treatment I could give it. At first glance it’s a simple card, but the layers of color that went into creating it and the attention to detail (like coloring the cut edges of the fussy-cut image to blend with the stamped outlines) in finishing it, hopefully, show how an otherwise simple card can stand on its own without a lot of embellishments.
