Learn How to Create this Dynamic Looking Ruffle Necklace

In today’s tutorial, I crafted this lightweight ruffle necklace with Sheet Metal pieces and irRESISTible in Cottage Ivy. This necklace can be given as a gift or added to your collection of handmade jewelry.

Time: 1 hour
Skill: Beginner to Intermediate

Directions

Step 1

Spray the Sheet Metal pieces with the Irresistible Cottage Ivy color and let them dry. Irresistibles is an acrylic based gel that will adhere to the metal. Allow moderate dry time. Be sure to clean the nozzle after each use.

Step 2

Use pliers to bend and shape the Sheet Metal pieces to any shape avoiding breaking them.

Step 3

Imagine’s Sheet Metal comes with one hole punched at the top. To create the chain, open additional holes to allow jump rings connections. Sheet Metal is durable yet soft enough to punch holes easily.

Step 4

Start connecting the Sheet Metal pieces with jump rings and when you achieve the desired result, add the chain and the ending hooks.

Quick & Easy: How to Make Earrings

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Having a quick look at your craft supplies, you can always find something more to make than papercrafts. Jewelry is one of the best things and you can make them any day and according to your fashion requirements each time.

These Wind Charm earrings are very easy to make and you can follow the same steps to make a necklace just by replacing the earring hooks with a jump ring and passing a cord to it. You only need basic supplies and no special techniques.

GlazOn

Jewelry Kit

Rinea Foil Paper

Tear It Tape

Jewelry Punch

Glue Gun

Jewelry Pliers

Directions

Cut 2 x 1 ½ inch pieces of the Rinea Turquoise starstruck paper, 5 for each earring or more if you are planning to make a necklace too. An alternative can be to use two matching color papers and have a result that goes with more outfits. When you have the papers cut, place Tear It Tape at one of the long edges and use a bamboo skewer starting from the opposite edge tightly roll the paper. Secure with the pre-set Tear It! Tape to create the pipes. Using the double-sided tape is easy and does not create a mess.

Place a drop of hot glue on one of the pipes ends and set a small jump ring inside. Continue with all of the small pipes and only at one side. If you do not have a glue gun then a strong liquid adhesive glue such as On Point Glue should work as well.

Punch small holes on two sides of the SHEET Metal in a diamond shape. You can use a hole punch or a piercing tool, but make sure that the openings allow the jump rings to pass. Then, remove the protective film and just press them on the StazOn Pigment in Peacock Feathers ink pad. Allow a few minutes the ink to dry. You can seal the result with GlazOn. This liquid sealant is formulated to work with StazOn inks.

Add a bit larger jump rings to set the pipes on the SHEET Metal diamond shapes and finish by adding an earring hook.

Learn How To Make A New Years Eve Necklace And Earrings

by Kyriakos Pachadirolgou

The leaf shape of the new Dewlet dies to inspire me to create a piece of jewelry everyone can make. Combining two different colors of metallic sheets, a gold one and a silver using SHEET Metal from Imagine, you can shape a shiny but still elegant necklace with a matching set of earrings. This project would make excellent New Years Eve celebration jewelry.

Skill: Advanced
Time: 1 hour

Directions

Step 1

Cut leaves from the SHEET Metal ATC cards and the gold colored aluminum foil. For this set, you will need 10 pieces for the necklace and 2 pieces for each earring.

Step 2

Lay the leaves on a flat surface, place them in the desired design and take a photo to follow the shape later.

Step 3

Use the round shape embossing tool and press into the leaves to create a hammered look.

Step 4

Set a small piece of Tear It! Tape on the back side of each leaf and add a drop of jewelry glue. This step will keep the leaves together in order to proceed to the next one and allow time for the jewelry glue to dry well.

Step 5

To set the waxed cord you can either punch holes and use jump rings or you can just glue it to the back of the leaves. The second option gives a more a steady result on the form of the necklace.

Step 6

To make the earrings, attach two leaves together, punch a hole and place the earring hook.

See How to Use Metal and Pigment Ink to Make Jewelry

Imagine’s Sheet Metal, VersaMagic and StazOn all products perfect for jewelry

I love wearing jewelry and wanted to make something colorful, light and airy for hot summer days. In today’s quick post, I am using Imagine’s Sheet Metal, VersaMagic and StazOn ink — all products perfect for jewelry. Jewelry making is super fun because of the creating and imagination process. It is fun to watch something transform from raw material to something beautiful and wearable.

I started out with plain metal pieces of Sheet Metal which is a sturdy but thin crafting metal. I choose four square pieces and one circle to contrast the others. Sheet metal is thin enough to use with embossing folders so I embossed with a couple different embossing folders to get different shapes and textures.

Then I colored the pieces using a combination of VersaMagic Chalk inks with the ‘direct to paper’ technique. This technique is using your inkpad directly on the metal blank to add color. After adding each color, heat emboss the newly inked sheet metal with Imagine’s Clear Embossing Powder. This will help you develop a layered ink look. Since this is metal, use extra precaution by holding your sheet metal with tweezers to avoid burning yourself. Now that your heat emboss is finished, add sentiments or your favorite small stamps using StazOn ink. When finished, seal your work with a clear sealant and attach the jewelry components.
