Techniques to Create Delicate Textures in a Valentine’s Card

Hello there! Today’s tutorial is about texture without dimensions. Do you know that you can create a flat card with these two ingredients and just one type of ink? Well, the Delicata is the ink that can bring you these possibilities and more. I decided to make this card using two colors of Delicata, Ruby Red and Rose Gold.

Skill: Beginning

Time: 45 minutes

Directions:

Step 1:

Take a piece of white smooth cardstock and solid stamps to create your design. In my sample, I am using hearts in different sizes and the Love Sentiment. First, ink the sentiment using the Ruby Red Delicata Ink. The Delicata is a pigment ink that dries within minutes on porous papers and never loses the luster. You can also obtain a Metallic touch with it if you don’t emboss the stamped images.

Step 2:

If you want to obtain more texture and coverage, you can stamp the same image several times. In my sample, I stamped it three times.

Step 3:

To complete the sentiment, you can stamp a complement using the same ink or other ink. On this sample, I used VersaFine Clair Nocturne. On it, you can notice the different textures of both inks and the soft color of the Delicata.

Step 4:

Now is the time to create more texture. This time, I used Rose Gold Delicata Ink to create it and hearts in different sizes. I stamped them randomly on the upper part of the card. Using a stamping tool, you can create different tones with the same ink and color, depending of the times that you stamp your image.

Step 5:

After finalizing the stamping process, I decided to embellish the card with a few loops of red twine. I used a dot of On Point Glue to secure just the knot.

Step 6:

Due to the dimension created with the twine, I pasted the decorated layer over a red card base using crafty foam tape. And voila, my soft and textured Valentine’s Card is ready!

Make a Birthday Card Using Multiple Stencils

Hello! Since birthdays happen all year, it’s good to have a big stash of birthday cards at the ready for whenever you need one. Since I love to use stencils, I thought I would use a bunch of them together with many colors of Memento Inks from Imagine.

I chose a light color and a dark color Memento Ink for each candle of the Big Candle stencil.

Step 1:

Step 1: Use washi or low tack tape to stick down your cardstock and stencil. Mask off any areas that you don’t want your first color of ink on. I masked off the second candle and the flames.

Step 2:

Ink the candles with the lighter color from the pairs you chose. Be sure to mask off the areas that you don’t want your ink to go.

Step 3:

Mask off the candles so that you can ink the flames. I used Dandelion on the entire flame, and then Tangelo on the lower area of the flame.

Step 4:

Choose the stencils you want to decorate each candle with and ink with the darker shades you chose. You must keep the original candle stencil in place so that you only ink the candle. Slip the patterned stencil under the candle stencil to make inking easy. Be sure to mask off the other areas again!

This is what the completed candles look like. You can stop here, if you want, but I kept going to make it even more festive!

Step 5:

Ink a stencil that looks like confetti or sprinkles on top of the entire panel.

Step 6:

Die cut your sentiment. First, I was only going to die cut my “happy birthday” out of purple, but I decided to cut one sentiment out of each main candle color so that I can have a stacked, 3D embellishment. You can glue these together with On Point Glue.

Step 7:

Ink your card base using the lighter colors of Memento Ink, directly from the pad. I worked my way around my palette of colors two times.

Step 8:

Glue the card front and sentiment on to the card base. Optional: Add sequins or rhinestones to the card front with On Point Glue.

Here is the finished card! I love how happy it is, and it can easily work for anyone. It’s fun to work with so many colors and so many patterns of stencils, all on one project. I hope that you break out some of your stencils and try this technique! Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Make a Friendship Card Using Memento Inks

Hello there! Today’s tutorial is using only one type of ink, the Memento. It is one of the most versatile and secure ink that you can use. Memento Ink is ideal to use with alcohol markers or simply to stamp, with solid or lineal stamps. It is also available in markers and liquid, like Fireworks! Shimmery Craft Sprays.

Skill Level: Beginning

Time to Complete: 45 minutes

Directions:

Step 1:

Take a piece of white smooth cardstock and ink well your solid stamp with Memento Ink. In my sample, I am using the Dandelion color. If you want you can use a stamping tool to have a better result or obtain a crispy image.

Step 2:

Select a lineal stamp and place it covering partially the image previously stamped. You can use a different color of Memento Ink to create a contrast. I am using the Rose Bud Memento Ink.

Step 3:

Stamp your sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Step 4:

To enhance special details of your stamped image you can use Memento Markers. I used the same Dandelion color just in a small spaces on the floral image to enhance the details.

Step 5:

As final step, you can embellish your card using Diamonds on different colors. To paste it, I used On Point Glue.

Step 6:

Resize the decorative layer and paste it over a card base using Tear It! Tape.

Make a Holiday Gift Box Using Vertigo Translucent Sheets

Vertigo is a beautiful translucent material to use in creating projects, in today’s tutorial, I am sharing tips and hints to make your project shine! The perfect ink for this box is StazOn, as it is the only ink that will dry on Vertigo and other plastics.

Skill: Intermediate

Time: 1 hour

Directions:

Step1:

Vertigo can be cut with scissors OR with a simple die. Complex dies do not work well with most plastics, Vertigo included.
This particular box needed 8.5” by 5” section of Vertigo, 12” x 12” sheets can be purchased directly from Imagine Crafts website. Recycled packaging may be substituted for Vertigo, however the results will not have the stunning effect the the patterns that Vertigo provides. The Pebbles pattern of Vertigo was used for my box.

Step 2:

Place a few drops ink from StazOn Blazing Red inker on a plastic surface to use as a palette.
On the INSIDE of the box use a cotton swab to color each of the pebbles from the center out.
A little goes a long way with the translucent colors.

Step 3:

Metallic StazOn ink is slightly less translucent than the other colors.
To capture more shimmer, apply a drop or two of StazOn Metallic Gold on the INSIDE of the box
and move the ink with a cotton swab to color around the pebbles.

Step 4:

Continue to add StazOn Metallic Gold ink to cover the remaining areas of the inside of the box.
Set aside to dry, as the Metallic ink is a bit thicker and takes a longer to dry.

Step 5:

Using StazOn Jet Black, stamp the “Merry Christmas” sentiment on the OUTSIDE of the box.
This keeps the interior of the box ink from lifting and to have the correct orientation.

Step 6:

Tear It! tape is perfect to hold the bottom of this gift box together.
Assemble box and determine the best placement for the Tear It! tape.
Unfold box and add Tear It! tape, my project called for five sections to hold the box in shape.

Remove Tear It! Tape liner and assemble gift box.

Decorate with matching ribbon and fibers to close the top and keep your gift secure.

Let’s Make a Shaker Ornament

Hello there! Today’s tutorial is a shaker ornament created with embossing powders and using different colors in a single piece. To make this, I used the MBoss in Blue Icicle, Sapphire and White. To create this type of embellishments or ornaments for your cards, gifts or Christmas Trees, you can also use our traditional Embossing Powders in any color.

Skill Level: Medium

Time to Complete: 45 minutes

Directions:

Step 1:

Apply a layer of ink to your Shaker Base or Chipboard piece directly with the ink pad of VersaMark. You can also use the small size or cube of VersaMark Ink if you are using a small piece of shaker card or chipboard. Make the emphasis on the center if it has the designed part.

Step 2:

Cover the center of your ornament with the light color of MBoss or embossing powder. In my sample, I am using the Blue Icicle.

Step 3:

Melt the MBoss or Embossing Powder with the heat tool. Don’t worry if the powder covered some parts of the border.

Step 4:

Repeat steps 2 and 3 if you want a thick effect or want better coverage.

Step 5:

Ink the border or the chipboard ornament or shaker piece with the VersaMark Ink Pad, taking care not to cover the center of the piece.

Step 6:

Cover the inked area with the dark color of MBoss. I am using the Sapphire.

Step 7:

Melt the powder with the heat tool. Then, add some touches of MBoss White to create more dimension over it. Melt the MBoss White or White Embossing Powder with the heat tool.
