Learn How To Make An Intricate Wedding Congratulations Card

by Arjita Sepaha Singh

Learn How To Make An Intricate Wedding Congratulations Card using Mboss embossing powder and a metal diecut

For today’s card, I used a very intricate die that has a bit of a mandala look and the gorgeous Mboss embossing powder in Sparkle. This “To the Perfect Couple” Wedding card is super simple to create and the sparkle you get is amazing. I stacked 3 die cuts on top of each other to create a chipboard effect and added a red paper to make it look brighter and festive. I finished it with a sentiment. This design is perfect for wedding invites & envelopes.

See How to Create an Elegant Save The Date Card

April is the month of white weddings here at Imagine. With the new addition of StazOn Pigment, this month is going to be amazing. I can’t imagine life without StazOn pigment and can hardly remember the ways back when. So let’s explore this amazing ink some more with this Save the Date card.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 15 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Place an acetate sheet onto a darker surface so you can see when you have stamped. Ink the stamp with StazOn Pigment in Snowflake (white) and stamp repeatedly onto acetate.

Step 2

Once the ink is dry, which is really quick, use a bone folder to fold the acetate in half and trim to size. Mine measure 3″ x 8”. Fold a piece of grey paper and trim to fit inside the acetate cover. Adhere with a small piece of tape at the back.

Step 3

Mist a piece of ribbon using Sheer Shimmer Spray in Frost. The spray gives the ribbon an off-white finish that is gorgeous. Dry the ribbon with a heat tool.

Step 4

Add printing side the grey folded sheet as desired. Wrap the ribbon around the outside and tie a printed Save the Date tag to it. Tie the ribbon into a double bow to finish off your clean an elegant Save the Date card.

The beautiful white stamping on the acetate makes for an elegant look and feel, setting the scene for what’s to follow at the wedding.

Learn How To Make 3 Matching Wedding Invitations

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Learn How To Make 3 Matching Wedding Invitations

I wanted to share some easy to make wedding invitations using standard size cards in different designs. The designs are based on two techniques, one requiring a die cutting/embossing machine and one that does not, which makes it easier for everyone to make having basic supplies. The Delicata ink pads give shine and elegance to your wedding invitations. Another fun idea I include is how embossing powder can be used on darker papers to add beautiful contrast and pop to the front of a wedding invitation. Two of the designs form pockets. The text can be printed on a separate card and placed inside. You could also order pre-printed 5 x 7 inch cards, and not follow the pocket making instructions included in this tutorial.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 5 minutes per invitation (depends on details)

Directions

Step 1

Use the embossing folders to emboss the fronts of the first two card designs. If you have an embossing folder that is for a full card background, you can place it over just a portion of the card front to get the 1/3 partial coverage.

Step 2

Add some color and shimmer to the embossed areas by lightly and smoothly pressing/rubbing the ink pad directly on the embossed surface. In the examples above, I used White Shimmer on the embossed lower 1/3 and Golden Glitz on the medallion shape. By going lightly you will only get ink on the raised portions which will highlight the embossing.

Step 3

For the large medallion embossed design, cut about 1 inch on the sides of it to fit the satin ribbon width.

Step 4

Pass the ribbon from the back side to front, add some Tear It Tape on the cutting, and fold the ribbon to set it to make a loop. Add a large rhinestone on the center of the medallion adhering it with the On Point Glue. This finishes the first card design.

Finishing the Second Embossed Design

Step 1

For the second invitation add printed ribbon using Tear It Tape just above the embossed area. Trim so it is flush with edges.

Step 2

To make a pocket card, cut about ⅜ x 5 inches strip of the front side of the card opposite to the embossed edge.

Step 3

Add Tear It Tape to the inside of the card along the bottom of the embossed area and the outside edge. Remove the backing and fold shut to make a pocket.

Step 4

Stamp with VersaFine Clair ink in Pinecone and the “And They Loved Happily Ever After” sentiment (or sentiment stamp of choice). Print or order cards with the text printed on a 4 ½ x 6 inch size card, punch a hole at the top of the insert card and add a matching ribbon. This ads a bit of extra elegance while confirming to the recipient they should pull out the insert card.

If you Do Not Have an Embossing Machine…

Step 1

Stamp a large flourish stamp with the VersaMark watermark ink on kraft paper, only covering 1/3 of the card front. Apply embossing powder over the stamped area, shake off excess and heat set with a heat tool.

Step 2

Add ribbon and further embellishments and follow the steps from second card design above.

Design a Beautiful Floral “Congratulations” Card for a Wedding

by Martha Lucia Gomez

Design a Beautiful Floral "Congratulations" Card for a Wedding. Using Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray - Sweet Plum, Potter's Clay.

One of the advantages of the watercolor technique is that you will never obtain two identical pieces, but with Fireworks you can still have a lot of control and keep your design just the way that you want. Today, I will show how easy it is to use the watercolor technique to make a wedding card.

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 1 hour + dry time

Directions

Step 1

Stamp the sentiment over watercolor paper using Memento Tuxedo Black. I used a Congratulations stamp from the Every Day Sentiments stamp set by Joy Clair. Here I used my trusty Misti stamping tool to position the sentiment.

Step 2

Take a detailed stencil and secure it over your watercolor paper. I used the Glorious Petal Stencil by Hero Arts. With a palette knife apply the Creative Medium in Clear careful not to cover the “Congratulations” stamped area with the medium. As soon you finish, remove the stencil and wash it with warm water and let the Creative Medium on the paper dry.

Step 3

In a separate piece of watercolor paper stamp the flower images using VersaMark and coat with White Embossing Powder. I used one flower included on the stamp set “Love is in the Air” from Dare 2B Artzy. To decorate my project I used three flowers. Heat set embossing powder.

Step 4

Here is where the magic happens! Color the flowers using the Fireworks Shimmery Craft Spray in your favorite colors with a paint brush to obtain the watercolor effect. For me, the best way to color was creating two spots of spray ink on my mat, one mixed with water and other undiluted. I used two different colors on my flowers, Sweet Plum and Potter’s Clay. But using the two dilutions you can achieve variance and depth in your image.

Step 5

Paste the stenciled layer over a color layer and add ink splatter with the spray stick of the Fireworks directly over the stenciled design. If you want you can also use a paintbrush. Splatter the ink as little or as much as you feel.

Step 6

Finalize your card by pasting the watercolor flowers over the stenciled design using double-sided foam tape or dimensionals. Adhere the decorated layers to a card base.
