Create a Beautiful Icy Blue Holiday Card

Although red, green and gold colors are the most representative ones of Christmas, the last couple of years, I am quite fun of blue that combines so nicely with the silver and contrasts the white. Stars are favorite shapes of this season and using Delicata Sapphire Blue on lighter shades of blue, using MEMENTO bahama blue, give more depth on the card.

Skill: Advanced
Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Die-cut 3 different sized star shapes.

Step 2

Place the star shapes on a piece of 4×6 card stock and spray first with the Fireworks! Bahama blue and then with Ink Potion No9. Remove the stars and dry the card stock with a heat tool.

Step 3

Lightly cover areas with MEMENTO Bahama blue ink pad.

Step 4

Place the star shapes, white side up, stamp with VersaMark the swirls stamp, cover with Mboss clear embossing powder and heat set.

Step 5

Distress the stars with Delicata Sapphire Blue.

Step 6

Stamp design on the stars, cover with Mboss white embossing powder and heat set. When finished, lightly press the edges of the stars on the VersaMark watermark ink pad, and heat set Mboss silver embossing powder.

Step 7

Set the card stock piece on the card with Tear It! Tape and start placing the ribbon.

Step 8

Continue adding the stars and the rest of the embellishments

See How to Make a Snowflake Shaker Ornament with Mboss

by Martha Lucia Gomez

Hello crafty friends, Martha Lucia here! Today, I am sharing a snowflake shaker ornament that you can use to decorate your gifts and/or Christmas tree. To create this, I am using a shaker dimension set with a snowflake design, VersaMark Clear Ink and Mboss Blue Icicle. Like this set came with a piece of acetate sheet to cover the free areas, I made it like a shaker piece adding some sprinkles.

Skill: Advanced
Time: 30 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Ink one of the sides of your or the ornament directly with the VersaMark Inkpad. Cover it with your selection of Mboss color. I used the Blue Icicle.

Step 2

Melt the powder with the heat tool. And repeat the process twice or three times to give more dimension to your ornament.

Step 3

Cut a piece of card stock with the same shape or your ornament and apply over it some touches of Frost Sheer Shimmer Stix. Let the paper dry naturally.

Step 4

Paste the base shape or double-sided foam tape onto the inked shape. Add your fillers, it could be sequins, sprinkles, beads or whatever you want. Adhere the clear acetate on top with liquid glue and cover it with the embossed design. Finalize your ornament adding a tie or pasting it to your gift. You can try different designs and different colors of Mboss to add your personal touch! Thank you for stopping by and see you soon!

Double Emboss a set of Ornaments for a Unique Holiday Craft

by Roni Johnson

It’s that time of the year to kick making into full gear. It is easier to create when you narrow your focus and choose a color scheme to work with. This year I have chosen Berry, Blue and Silver. I knew I wanted to make some “Mail-able Ornaments” for my far away friends. MBoss embossing powders are just the ticket!

Skill: Intermediate
Time: 15 minutes per ornament

Directions

Step 1

Die-cut or hand cut desired ornament shapes from a medium weight chipboard. I used the ornament die from Sizzix.

Step 2

Pounce the ornament on a VersaMark pad until the entire ornament has been covered with the ink.

Step 3

Pour desired color of Mboss embossing powder over the ornament, shake off and reserve excess powder for future use.

Step 4

Use a heat tool to melt the embossing powder and let cool.

Step 5

Repeat steps 2 – 4 one or two more times creating a thick molten layer of embossing powder over the ornament.

Step 6

Immediately after the final melting cycle press a stamp into the molten embossing powder and let the embossing powder cool. Note: the molten embossing powder will not damage the stamp.

Step 7

After the embossing powder has cooled, peel the ornament from the stamp.

Step 8

Embellish the ornaments as desired.

Step 9

Add a length of stretch cord for a hanger.

See How to Make a Tattersal Background Pattern for a Card

One of my favorite things to do is create patterned backgrounds. I have wanted to find a way to create a pattern that I am always seeing on men’s shirts. In my research, I found it had an actual name, Tattersall!! You could use line stamps, but I found using markers made this pattern super quick and easy!

Decorate Your Home for the Holidays with Clay Ornaments

by Kyriakos Pachadiroglou

Decorate Your Home for the Holidays with Clay Ornaments

Light-weighted, these Christmas ornaments can be hung anywhere in the house to decorate during the festive holiday season. Use any Christmas theme casting mold to make the ornaments and if you don’t have any, a flat layer of clay with some cookie cutters can work too. They are easy to make and coloring is a breeze with All-Purpose Ink and StazOn Pigment inks.

Skill: Beginner
Time: 1 hour (excluding clay dry time)

Directions

Step 1

If you are creating the clay pieces yourself then allow clay of the Christmas shapes to fully dry. If you are using premade shapes then you are ready to start. Using a paintbrush, color the surface of the ornaments with All-Purpose Ink Poppy Red and Lemon Yellow. Premix the two colors or lay first the Poppy Red and add a layer of Lemon Yellow after. Let them dry.

Step 2

Cover the embossed details of the shapes with All-Purpose White to create a distressed or antique look. The easiest way to apply the color is by using a finger and lightly tapping on the embossed areas. Let them dry.

Step 3

Press the crystals directly on the StazOn Pigment ink pad, let them sit a bit to allow the ink to dry well and repeat for a good coverage. Cover on the backside only.

Step 4

Use a hot glue gun to set ribbons on the clay shapes, add beads and crystals.

Supplies

  • Fimo casting mold – Christmas shapes
  • White clay
  • Ribbons
  • Silver color beads
  • Chandelier crystals

See How to Use Blending and Embossing to Create a Beautiful Card

by Martha Lucia Gomez

See How to Use Blending and Embossing to Create a Beautiful Card

Hi there, Martha Lucia here! Today I have a fun project creating a Violet rainbow with your Memento Inks. This month the design team of Image is featuring the amethyst color and I decided to use not exactly violet colors but some colors from the same line.

Skill: Beginner – Intermediate
Time: 20 minutes

Directions

Step 1

Most of the work in this design is coloring the background. I started with a whisper white piece of cardstock and masking tape. As you can notice on the photo my initial idea was using four colors of Memento Ink but at the end, I changed my mind and used five. The colors of Memento Ink that I used were Paris Dusk, Grape Jelly, Lilac Posies, Lulu Lavender and the versatile London Fog. By the way, London Fog is one of my favorites colors of Memento Ink because it can be used to no-line coloring and also is great for watercolor and many other techniques.

Step 2

Next, I stamped the large beautiful flower stamp from Waffle Flower’s “In Bloom” stamp set. Since I used dye inks in the background, I can now stamp over the inked layer with VersaMark Ink and MBoss Embossing Powder Sapphire. To create the contrast, I stamped the “Bloom” sentiment over Whisper White cardstock with VersaMark Ink and the same color of MBoss. I fussy cut with scissors the sentiment and added it to the project using double-sided foam tape.

Thank you for stopping by!
