Let’s Make Some Autumn Inspired Gift Card Tags

Kathy_October-Tutorial-last

By Kathy Pisupati –

Hi my crafty friends!  Today I have a new tutorial for you that may help you to use your fall dies in a new way.  I will be using the VersaColor Inks to make a mess, yes…a mess that turns out to be BEAUTIFUL!  We will be creating gift card tags for any occasion using fall leaf dies.

Skill Level: Intermediate
Time to Complete: 1 hour

Directions:

Kathy_October-Tutorial-01
Step 1:

Make a mess.  Yes, take a piece of 80lb card stock and swipe those VersaColor inks.  Smoosh ‘em, splatter ‘em, do whatever you want with them.  Use those reinkers that you have sitting on your shelf.

Kathy_October-Tutorial-04Kathy_October-Tutorial-02

Step 2:

Let these panels dry.  Because the VersaColor inks are a pigment ink they take a while to dry, let them dry!  Go have a cup of coffee and take a peek at more inspiration on the Imagine Blog.

Kathy_October-Tutorial-05
Step 3:

Use your leaf dies to cut several leaves from your messy panel. Trust me!  Are they pretty?

Step 4:

Use a gift card tag die to cut some tags.
You should be able to get three holders from one sheet of 8.5” x 11”.

Step 5:

Once cut, splatter some gold watercolor paint all over the panels.

Step 6:

Fold and score your gift tags.  Use the Imagine Tear It! Tape to assemble.

Kathy_October-Tutorial-6c
Step 7:

Lay out your pretty leaves and glue them down with Imagine On Point Glue.  Trim off any excess.

Kathy_October-Tutorial-14

Step 8

Stamp some sentiments, cut, and create a shadow strip from gold card stock.  Adhere with On Point Glue.  Put some foam tape on the back and adhere to your tags.  Add some bling with the On Point Glue.

Step 9:

Loop some twine through the holes and the gift holders are done.  I hope this has helped you seen those fall products in a new light.  Thank you for stopping by the Imagine Blog!

How to Make a Simple Fall Tag

Leaf-Tag-Cover-600

By Alison Heikkila –

As we approach Autumn, I thought it would be fun to share a way to make a simple tag that can be used for gifts, as a place card, or even attached to a card base. By using a few simple techniques, you can make a bunch of these tags quickly, and save them for when you need them.

Skill Level: Beginner
Time: 15-20 Minutes

Directions:

Leaf-Tag-1

Step 1:

Die cut a tag out of Kraft cardstock. Cut a piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock that is a little larger than your leaf stamp.

Step 2:

Stamp your leaf with VersaFine Clair Ink in Pinecone.

Step 3:

Apply Clear Mboss Embossing Powder to the leaf, shake off the excess, and heat set.

Leaf-Tag-2

Step 4:

Using Memento Inks in Pear Tart, Dandelion, Tangelo, and Morocco, apply using a blending brush. The colors should fade into each other and cover the entire leaf. The photo above shows the leaf not completely inked.

Step 5:

Die cut the leaf using the coordinating die, or fussy cut it.

Leaf-Tag-3

Step 6:

Place the leaf on the tag to help determine where you will add Tear It! Tape. The Tear It! Tape will be used to add stripes of embossing powder. I applied 2 strips.

Leaf-Tag-4

Step 7:

Sprinkle on Shimmering Night Sky Mboss powder on to the Tear It! Tape, shake off the excess, and heat set.

Leaf-Tag-5

Step 8:

Ink the edges of the tag with Rich Cocoa Memento ink and a blending brush. You could also do this step before you add the Tear It! Tape.

Leaf-Tag-6

Step 9:

Splatter on Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Gold all over the tag. Let dry

Leaf-Tag-7

Step 10:

Ink a small sentiment with VersaFine Clair Pinecone ink and stamp it on the tag.

Step 11:

Apply foam squares to the back of your leaf to raise it off of the surface of the tag and adhere it.

Step 12:

Add some ribbon or twine to the hole in the tag.

Leaf-Tag-8-600

I think this tag is so pretty and festive. You can easily use different colors of Memento inks or different embossing powder colors to completely change up the look.

Art Supplies:

Imagine:

• VersaFine Clair: Pinecone Ink
• Memento Ink: Pear Tart, Dandelion, Tangelo, Morocco, Rich Cocoa
• Tear It! Tape
